Why did you provoke me?

Yu Meng watched as the street gradually came to life, and more and more people gathered, but no one hid themselves under a black robe. Even the man with the birthmark on his face wasn't masked. He walked along the street, talking and laughing loudly.

Before she knew it, Yu Meng was already in tears. They were just ugly-looking; they hadn't done anything wrong, hadn't harmed anyone, and might even have been heroes in the past. But now they were monsters, sorrowful figures hidden in black robes.

I don't know how much time passed, but the door behind me opened. "Little sister, Mingfeng wants to go back to the city with his cousin again. He said he wants to bring that person to the city. His maternal grandfather instructed him to do so."

"Big sister, what will happen to that person after we take him to the city? He's not the one who tried to steal your hairline, right?" Yu Meng's voice was very soft.

"No, that person had a very large and tall frame," Dali answered confidently. "As for what happened to that person, I'm not too sure either; Mingfeng didn't say either."

"Since he's been called a monster, how good can his fate be?" Yu Meng's voice was barely audible.

"Little sister?" Dali called out to her again, puzzled.

"It's alright, big sister. Since it wasn't that person this time, we still need to be vigilant." Yu Meng turned around and looked at her big sister.

Yu Meng hesitated for a moment, then asked her older sister, "The danger here isn't over yet. Isn't your husband staying here? Is he going to the city?"

Dali's smile faded slightly. "My cousin explained that it would be too dangerous for him to bring this person back to the city on his own, so he wanted Mingfeng to come along, and Mingfeng agreed."

Yu Meng nodded and said nothing more.

"Hey, little sister, don't think so much. We can do it ourselves." Yu Meng looked at her older sister seriously and nodded.

If they could catch the first one, they could catch the second one too. But why did she feel that wasn't the case? Oh well, they're not family yet.

Li Yiqing didn't even linger for long before returning to the city with Jiang Mingfeng.

However, their car had not even traveled 20 kilometers out of town when it was stopped by several black sedans on the side of the road.

Jiang Mingfeng gripped the steering wheel tightly, looking nervously at Li Yiqing sitting in the passenger seat. "Cousin, what's going on? Did we mess with someone we shouldn't have?"

Li Yiqing wasn't sure either, but he still forced himself to remain calm, opened the car door, and got out.

A man got out of the car that was parked diagonally in front of the vehicle. He was wearing the same black robe. "We need to take the people in your car with us," the man said in a hoarse voice, but his words were clear.

Li Yiqing frowned deeply. "Someone in the city asked us to take him to the city."

"You're not talking about your own grandfather, are you?" The newcomer was clearly very aware of Li Yiqing's situation. "He doesn't have that authority."

The man in black robes waved his hand, and two people got out of each of the other cars. They opened the back door of the car Jiang Mingfeng was driving, lifted the person lying in the back seat, and carefully placed him into the back seat.

The person standing in front of Li Yiqing left. "He was a hero, you shouldn't treat him like this." The voice was hoarse and drifted away in the wind.

Several cars drove away one after another. Li Yiqing stood on the main road and let out a heavy sigh. This way, he didn't have to make a choice, which was good enough.

Jiang Mingfeng got out of the car, his legs trembling slightly. He leaned against the car and said, "Cousin, they're not the same kind of people, are they?"

"Weren't you fearless? What's wrong with you now?" Li Yiqing teased, letting go of his inner turmoil.

"How can that be the same? The person at home was drugged and tied up. Of course they weren't afraid. But what about those guys who just came? If they were accomplices, aren't you afraid?"

"Scared? Who says I'm not scared?" Li Yiqing silently added in his mind. "What I'm more afraid of is messing with these guys."

"So what do we do now? We haven't found the person who stole the dahlia strips yet. Let's go back. Anyway, even if we go to the city now, the person is gone, so what difference does it make whether we go or not?"

"Mingfeng, don't rush, let me have a smoke to calm down." Li Yiqing took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it slowly, and then took a deep drag.

After a while, Li Yiqing finally threw away his cigarette butt and got into the car. "Let's go back to town."

Jiang Mingfeng could clearly sense that his cousin was in a better mood. But this time, he was very perceptive and didn't ask.

Yu Meng saw the car return from upstairs. It seemed like only an hour had passed since it left, why was it back? Had something happened?

After the two went upstairs and explained what had happened, everyone fell silent. "Cousin, won't they retaliate against us for what we did to that person?" Dali's voice trembled. "He was dressed so well, we couldn't even see who it was. It was purely accidental. If anyone comes looking for us, cousin, you have to testify for us."

"Dali, don't be afraid, I'll be your witness." Jiang Mingfeng comforted Dali from the side.

"Are they all driving black sedans? Do they have any markings on them?" Yu Meng asked.

"No. There wasn't even a license plate number," Li Yiqing said softly. "They won't come looking for us. Otherwise, they wouldn't have let Mingfeng and me off so easily back then."

"That's good, that's good." Dali picked up the water glass on the table and took a big gulp. "Since everything's alright, I'll go back to my room."

Dali stood up and left. Jiang Mingfeng called after her, "Wait for me!" and followed her.

Yu Meng looked at Li Yiqing, who was sitting motionless in the chair. "Is there something else you want to tell me?"

Li Yiqing remained silent for a long time. So long that Yu Meng thought he wouldn't say anything. "It's a special organization. I've only seen a few words about it sporadically in my family's diary."

Yu Meng interrupted him. "These are things a child like me shouldn't know."

Li Yiqing looked up at Yu Meng seriously, "He wouldn't just run to your house for no reason and stay on the wall for hours."

Yu Meng was very annoyed. "What does it have to do with us if he wants to stay there?"

"They always have very strong senses when they transform into this form. There must be something here that's attracting them," Li Yiqing tried to explain. "I don't know the specifics either. I'm just reminding you to be careful not to get hurt by them."

"I came back to talk to you about this. I'm going back to the city soon, and I'll be alone this time. I'll contact you if there's any news." Li Yiqing went downstairs and left.

Yu Meng suddenly felt very agitated. She went to her parents. "Dad, Mom, let's go back to the village and stay for a while."

"What's wrong, Xiao Si?" Mom asked with concern.

"There are too many people coming and going here, which is not good for your composure, Sister," Yu Meng lied.

"Oh, is that so? I was just telling your dad that it's too noisy and crowded here. It seems we're on the same page this time." Aunt Yu was delighted. "Then I'll go pack some things, and we'll leave in a bit."

Yu's father has no say in this matter; he just needs to follow along.
