Why did you provoke me?
Chapter 465 They were able to get another nap.
Unable to think of a solution, Chen Ming had no choice but to send a message to his father.
"Father, the Jing family has lost something, and there's a complete lockdown. I can't get into the Jing family's gate at all."
"Make sure you mark the secret, and the master will come to you."
Upon receiving the news, Chen Ming found a small hotel and settled in comfortably. It wasn't that he lacked ability, but rather that he genuinely dared not cause trouble within the Jing family's territory.
He still remembered that year; he was only seventeen or eighteen. His father specifically called him to the study and told him about an incident that had occurred in the Jing family.
It was originally a very small matter, just a bet between a few young people from top-tier families. The bet was that the Jing family was untouchable, and whoever dared to mess with them would have a shop as the stake.
So a young man, confident in his status, actually attacked the Jing family, setting fire to their stable.
The Jing family discovered it, but they did nothing to help. They just watched as the small fire grew into a raging inferno and burned through the entire stable.
The Jing family sent their own people to calculate the losses, recording them item by item. Even the horse troughs and water buckets cost real money.
A strange thing happened: the arsonist's family, without saying a word, immediately handed over the money. Meanwhile, the arsonist was beaten half to death by his own family and dumped at the Jing family's residence, told they could do whatever they wanted with him.
He still clearly remembers his father asking him, "Do you know what happened to that young man in the end?"
He remembered his answer clearly: "It's just a small matter. When the fire started, they wanted to put it out, but the Jing family stopped them. Now, they have to take full responsibility." He even seemed to slam his fist on the table later. "They demanded so much money, and then beat people up like that. The Jing family is just bullying people."
My father's expression was strange at the time. It was a bit helpless, a bit disappointed in him, but more than that, it was wary and fearful.
Finally, he was told what happened to that person: "That person was parasitized by an alien and became a living organism in the Jing family's laboratory."
His father gave him a deep look and said, "Some people are truly not to be trifled with, and some things are truly not to be done. Do you think that's all there is to it?"
No!
This person's parents and siblings were later secretly sent to the Jing family, where they would become living subjects in the Jing family's laboratory.
He remembered asking, "The Jing family is so blatantly using living people for experiments, isn't anyone doing anything about it?"
My father's words were also very realistic: "If our Chen family can also produce a sage master, then our Chen family can do the same."
Chen Ming couldn't help but shudder as he recalled the past.
The Jing family's affair had caused quite a stir; he couldn't help but know about it. He actually admired this person quite a bit; stealing from the Jing family required real audacity. The Jing family appeared peaceful and harmonious, but that was only because they had hidden their true intentions; it didn't mean they were weak-willed.
Chen Ming sighed inwardly; he really wanted to get to know this stubborn guy.
But the stubborn Yu Meng squatted down by the roadside and vomited profusely.
Can anyone tell her why this ride, which is supposed to pick up passengers, is even bumpier than the one she was on? She didn't even make it to the final stop before getting off.
She had been vomiting in this spot for half an hour, and there was still no sign of improvement. Yu Meng felt like she had vomited up bile.
An older woman who got off the bus with Yu Meng stood beside her, watching Yu Meng's miserable state. After thinking for a moment, she took out a tin water bottle from her cloth bag and handed it to Yu Meng. "Young lady, rinse your mouth. That's how motion sickness is; it takes a while to recover."
Yu Meng waved her hand, "I can't drink it. I feel like throwing up at the sight of anything."
"Don't swallow it, just swirl it around in your mouth and then spit it out." The old lady pushed the water bottle forward again.
"No need, I have water," Yu Meng refused again.
Whenever Yu Meng sees water handed to her by others, she is reminded of Dali's coma, which is a real-life example.
"Okay, then you can drink your own water." The woman didn't insist.
"Young lady, do you live in this area? I've never seen you before. Do you need me to take you home?" The older woman was very enthusiastic.
Yu Meng's urge to vomit hadn't been suppressed. The older woman kept talking to her, which completely annoyed her, and the lines that appeared on her mind quickly returned.
The woman shut up this time and lay limply by the roadside. Don't misunderstand, Yu Meng didn't kill her; she just made her pass out.
Finally, it quieted down. Yu Meng plopped down on the ground, feeling upset and dizzy.
Looking around, I realized this place was just a fork in the road, with no houses in sight.
She glanced at the enthusiastic older woman again, but perhaps she was overthinking it. It seemed quite dangerous for her, a young woman, to be the only one left in the area.
With no one around and feeling unwell, Yu Meng lay down on the ground as well.
The ground wasn't cold, and the big tree next to her provided some shade. Yu Meng closed her eyes, feeling sleepy.
She didn't know how much time had passed when she heard many footsteps approaching. She checked her physical condition and found it was much better than when she had just gotten off the bus.
After thinking about it, I didn't get up. Anyway, the older woman was with me, otherwise I would have to explain, which would be too much trouble!
Yu Meng was naturally carefree, but she had to maintain a certain image in front of those people, which was why she had been pretending. No one here knew her, so she might as well sleep on the ground; she wouldn't get up if she didn't want to.
Yu Meng was still trying to comfort herself when a shrill female voice rang out, "Mom, Mom, what's wrong?"
Yu Meng felt that a lot of people had gathered around.
"Juanzi, don't cry. I can feel that she's still breathing. Press under her nose and see if she can wake up." A man's voice rang out.
"Hey, come quick, there's another little girl over here." Yu Meng felt someone about to lie on top of her and slowly opened her eyes.
"Oh my goodness, you little girl, you scared me to death!" A plump middle-aged woman was squatting next to Yu Meng to check on her. When she saw that Yu Meng had opened her eyes, she plopped down on the ground.
The shouts drew the attention of two more people. "Auntie Pang, are you alright?" A girl about the same age as Yu Meng ran over.
"It's nothing, it's just that the girl suddenly opened her eyes, which startled me."
The newcomer turned to look at Yu Meng, their eyes meeting. The girl looked away first.
Then, stammering, she asked, "Are you alright? Why are you lying here?"
Yu Meng blinked and slowly sat up. "Where is this?"
"Go in this way and you'll reach Welfare Team Five," the girl said, pointing to the fork in the road.
"What about over there?" Yu Meng pointed to the other side.
"It's a long walk to get to town. You're not from here, you're from town," the girl asked curiously.
"He's awake! He's awake!" A commotion arose from the side.
"Mom, why did you faint? Are you too tired?"
Yu Meng didn't answer the little girl's question, but instead looked behind her.
The girl turned around and ran to the older woman. "Auntie, why did you faint? Did something happen?"
"Oh, nothing's wrong. What brings you all here?"
"You're telling me? The car went by a long time ago, and you haven't come back yet. Juanzi was so worried, that's why she asked us to come and check on you. Stand up and see if you can walk?" A man in his early thirties explained the reason.
"Hey, Captain, I'm fine. It's just that the little girl who got off the bus with me got carsick and vomited a lot. I didn't expect this place to be so remote, and I thought she might be scared by herself, so I stayed with her for a while." The woman said, patting the dirt off her clothes and standing up.
He glanced around and saw Yu Meng still sitting on the ground, so he hurried over. "Little girl, why are you still here? Are you feeling better?"
Yu Meng nodded. "I was thinking of waiting for you to wake up before I left, but it seems I fell asleep."
The crowd chuckled good-naturedly. "No one else can do this. They can even fall asleep while waiting for someone."
