Why did you provoke me?
Chapter 34 A genius's mind is different.
Things unfolded exactly as Yu Meng had predicted.
The note was for Li Yiqing. When Dali arrived at the Cai Group, she was called to the office.
Dali opened the note but left without reading its contents. Li Yiqing was very pleased with this. The note contained only one short sentence: "Here's a reward for you; arrange two people for me."
The note contained only this one sentence, which seemed to have no context. Li Yiqing looked at it repeatedly.
Once everyone had assembled, they prepared to head into the mountains. The office landline rang.
Li Yiqing received a call from Mayor Jiang. He had no choice but to hand over the current matter to Jiang Mingcheng. He then went to the mayor's office.
After listening to Mayor Jiang's account, Li Yiqing knew that this was news brought back by Jiang Mingfeng. Indeed, as the note stated, if this matter was accomplished, Li Yiqing would also receive a great reward.
Not only ordinary people, but even powerful families deeply abhor human traffickers. Ordinary people are stolen or sold, while powerful families are often switched at birth. They raise exceptionally talented children, only to find they are not of their own blood. Even worse, the entire family can be destroyed overnight.
Li Yiqing nodded readily, "My Li family will mobilize manpower to fully cooperate."
The two discussed the action plan in detail. Why not use the town's security forces? They hadn't found a single clue over the years. The mayor and Li Yiqing were both well aware of the shady dealings involved, but they just wouldn't bring it up.
Once Yu Meng had handed over the matter, she no longer cared about it. She had something else to do now.
She was ambushed and nearly sold. When she woke up, she knew she could have escaped. But she couldn't walk back.
She decided to use the lines in her mind to make herself a gliding device—something that she could walk on by stepping on.
This idea grew stronger on the way home: if lines can make dough into decorations, why can't they be made into moving things?
She drew inspiration from cars, imagining the chassis as made of rolled-up sheets of dough arranged in an orderly fashion. This chassis had to be able to withstand her body weight.
There were ten layers of toilet paper laid out. She stood on it, and the base was stable, allowing her to stand completely upright.
Next, she designed her own small wheels based on car wheels. For the main body, she used cardboard scraps from stones to make cardboard. For the hub and rim, she folded solid cardboard into a honeycomb structure. Then, she chose a cross-shaped pattern for the spokes, inserting the cardboard rods she had made, and finally connecting the hub and rim to distribute the load.
Overall, the structure looks quite nice. You stand on it with two feet, and there's a vertical support in the middle. On either side of each foot are two large wheels.
Yu Meng stood on it and tried it out; it felt great. Now, only the final question remained: how did she make it move?
Yu Meng looked at the big black cat at her feet, lying there lazily, its tail wagging. She tried to recall why the cat had moved in the first place. How had she done it?
The cat and her bicycle are different. The cat was made from lines in her mind, but the bicycle was actually made from the skin peeled off plants and animals.
Yu Meng dismantled the sparrows from the trees in her yard and slowly wove the threads into the bicycle.
Sure enough, the car slowly started moving. Yu Meng spent every day in the yard thinking about her little car. She poured all her imagination into it.
Although the car isn't that big, it would still look out of place if Yu Meng were carrying it.
Two months later, Yu Meng was able to stand freely on the cart, traversing slopes, grasslands, and water. Yu Meng thought to herself, "It's so useful!"
Yu Meng's eyes were once again fixed on the big black cat. She felt that it would be a waste to make her lines into a big black cat.
The big black cat seemed to sense her intention, and in a flash, it darted up the tree and wouldn't come down.
Later, Yu Meng dismantled the car she had spent two months building.
She used the lines from the second book to knit herself a foot cover according to the size of her feet.
Then she walked unsteadily, step by step, in her own yard. Several aunties and older women even secretly asked Yu Meng's mother, "Has Xiao Si'er been acting a little strange since she came back that time?"
"What nonsense are you talking about? My little Si'er is just playing by himself," Yu's mother replied helplessly.
The aunt and grandma nodded, looking like they understood, and left.
Yu's mother also secretly asked Yu's father, "Has our little Si'er suffered some kind of trauma? Since she came back, she seems like a different person, always doing things we can't understand."
"When you talk to her, is she normal?" Mr. Yu asked.
Mom nodded. "I didn't notice anything unusual. But I just can't understand what she's making."
"Maybe it's something from their circle," Mr. Yu said slowly. "You haven't been in contact with them, so it's understandable that you don't know."
Mom glared at Dad. "You talk like you know everything."
At first, Yu's father was also very worried about Yu Meng. He was afraid that the child might be traumatized and do something bad to herself.
Later, Yu Meng demonstrated what she had made to him. Yu's father was completely relieved. His fourth son was truly clever. The minds of geniuses were beyond the comprehension of ordinary people like them.
Now, seeing Yu Meng walking unsteadily in the courtyard, he wasn't surprised. Because Yu Meng had indicated to him that there was something under her feet.
Gradually, Yu Meng adapted to the strength of the lines beneath her feet. She was finally able to walk freely.
One evening, Dali returned home. Jiang Mingfeng drove her back, and she was carrying a lot of things in large and small bags.
Aunt Yu patted Dali's arm. "Have you been spending all your money on things? You're getting married soon, can't you save some for yourself?"
Dali smiled and said, "I didn't buy these. I remember last time, my little sister helped our group leader, and these were gifts he brought back for her from the city."
Jiang Mingfeng nodded in agreement. This included items bought by his father, himself, and Dali, which together made up this much.
Yu Meng looked at the pile of gifts, her eyes crinkling with laughter. She glanced at Dali, who nodded vigorously.
After dinner, the two sisters gathered in Dali's room to whisper to each other.
"Little sister, you have no idea. This time, our town caught over 50 human traffickers. Isn't that terrifying?" Dali patted her chest. "When I heard that, do you know what my first reaction was?"
Yu Meng was very supportive, "What?"
"How come my little sister is so amazing?" Dali picked up Yu Meng and spun her around on the ground several times before the two sisters collapsed onto the kang (a heated brick bed).
