Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 324: First Clues

During the lunch break, Jing San didn't say a word.

After Liu Wei returned, he sat there without saying a word.

Everyone looked at each other and consciously kept their distance.

They all assumed that it was Niannian's matter that made Yu Meng angry. Otherwise, the two team leaders wouldn't be acting this way.

Jing San looked at Liu Wei's expressionless face. "Going to be the magnanimous captain again? What did Niannian say?"

Liu Wei asked with a dark expression, "You also think I did something wrong?"

"I'll only ask you one question: if they're unwilling to do something, can you force them?"

"If they don't want to, how can I force them?" Liu Wei looked at him like he was an idiot.

"Then what are you hoping to gain by begging Nian Nian to help them become stronger?" Jing San's words froze Liu Wei's expression.

The car was very quiet on the afternoon journey, with the lines on the steering wheel swaying back and forth.

Niannian no longer plays with that Rubik's Cube. She throws her lines out the window, where they converge in front of the car to form an arrow, guiding the car's direction.

Jing San and Liu Wei stared intently at the arrow until, during their break, the lines were absorbed into Nian Nian's mind.

Jing San and Liu Wei tentatively tried to keep the line suspended in the air, but they had to take it down after only half an hour.

Neither of them spoke, and they silently went back to rest.

The next morning, Jing San took over driving. The two of them consciously placed the car window open, with Niannian's car window still leading the way.

Jingchuan Hall.

Secretary Wu looked at the person in front of her with great surprise, "Butler Han? What is it that requires you to come in person?"

As he spoke, he ushered the person into the living room.

"Brother Wu, let's go inside and talk. I'm afraid we'll have to trouble Teacher Yu this time."

Secretary Wu led the person to a seat and personally served them a cup of tea.

"What exactly happened? Couldn't we have contacted you using the intercom? Why did you have to come all this way?" Secretary Wu asked with concern as he sat down.

"Sigh, what an unexpected disaster! My young master returned to Kyoto and had a get-together with friends. But how would I know any of this? There was one thing I couldn't decide, so I sent him a video."

As a result, this video angered someone from a reclusive family. "Butler Han sighed and took all the blame upon himself.

"Then you come here..."

"Sigh, they got into a conflict over the communication bell. To protect the bell, the young master had someone implant an alien in him."

Secretary Wu's mouth dropped open. "Is everyone in Kyoto this lawless?"

Secretary Wu didn't ask about the communication bell; since the person was crippled, the items must have been stolen.

"Who can argue with that? But we can't afford to offend these reclusive families, so we'll just have to swallow this insult." Butler Han's expression somber. "I wonder if Teacher Yu is at the guild hall?"

"Yes, she is, but she is in seclusion, and I don't want to disturb her." Secretary Wu was not lying. Ever since she learned that Niannian had left with Jing San and the others, Yu Meng had gone into seclusion.

Looking at Secretary Wu's expression, Butler Han figured there was no reason for him to lie to him.

"What should we do then? Does your guild have any other people who can extract aliens?"

"Teacher Qing can also remove it, but she never goes out. Butler Han, if I may be so bold as to ask, can't your bone-drawing master remove it?"

Butler Han closed his eyes briefly. "To be honest, Brother Wu, they're tied down by the First Battlefield and can't get away."

"What? Something's happened on the first battlefield again?" Secretary Wu asked in surprise.

"Again?" Butler Han looked at Secretary Wu. "What do you mean by 'again'?"

Secretary Wu pursed her lips, leaned closer to Butler Han, and whispered, "It seems the Zhu family is also in trouble? My goods have been stolen several times, which would have been absolutely impossible before."

Are you sure?

Secretary Wu sat up straight. "I'm not sure, it's just my guess."

Butler Han frowned. "If that's the case, then something terrible is about to happen."

"You don't know?"

Butler Han shook his head. "I haven't been aware of what you're talking about, but a month ago, one of the Zhu family's spoiled brats cornered a girl in a shopping mall and ended up getting badly beaten up. I heard the Zhu family had to pay for a shop to settle the matter."

"She got beaten up and even lost a shop? What about that girl's identity? Have you checked?" Secretary Wu asked thoughtfully. "It looks like she was set up."

"I didn't realize it until you said it, but now that you've mentioned it, it really seems like a possibility." Butler Han pinched the bridge of his nose.

Secretary Wu glanced at him and cautiously asked, "What about the Chen family? Have they also encountered such a trivial matter?"

Butler Han's eyes gradually sharpened. "Brother Wu, what do you mean?"

Secretary Wu sat there steadily. "What could I possibly mean? I just felt something was off. We have a good relationship, so I said a few more words."

Butler Han still had some doubts.

Secretary Wu slowly took a sip of tea. "Don't worry, we weren't involved. Teacher Yu isn't interested in these things."

Butler Han's tense body slowly relaxed. "I'll have someone investigate this matter as soon as I get back. If it's really as Brother Wu said, my Hou family will reward you handsomely."

Secretary Wu waved his hand, "No need for generous thanks. As long as you are all alright, that's the best thing."

Butler Han stood up. "I will send the young master over in a couple of days. I hope Brother Wu will take good care of him then."

"Of course, of course," Secretary Wu replied, standing up as well. "Since you have things to do, I won't keep you any longer. Please don't hesitate to ask us to help you with anything."

After seeing the person off, Secretary Wu pondered for a while before turning and heading to Nangong Tianshou's tea room.

"Let them fight if they want to, why are you worrying about it?" Nangong Tianshou didn't give Secretary Wu a friendly look.

Secretary Wu sat down and poured himself a cup of tea. "We have ten teams collecting supplies on the front lines, and our relationships are already very strong. If someone else takes over, we'll have to rebuild those relationships all over again, which is a real hassle."

"How many of these top families in Kyoto have a conscience?" Nangong Tianshou asked with a disdainful expression.

"It's just a few words, they appreciate it, and we don't lose anything."

"Then what are you doing here?" Nangong Tianshou waved for Xiao Hao to go out and play.

"I'm worried that the matter of the communication bell might lead us to this place. Although Butler Han's words sound nice, the young master is not someone who can keep a secret."

"What a hassle," Nangong Tianshou muttered. "So what do you mean?"

"I'm just wondering, if they trace it back to our area, what preparations should we make?"

Nangong Tianshou scoffed, "Only reclusive families dare to provoke top-tier clans. Even if we all went together, we wouldn't be enough to fill their teeth. I suggest you just go to sleep."

Secretary Wu remained seated, not moving. "We can't just sit here and wait to die. Even a chick flaps its wings a few times before it dies!"

Looking at Secretary Wu's serious face, Nangong Tianshou asked, "Are you serious?"

Secretary Wu nodded. "Jingchuan Hall was built with all my heart and soul. If anyone tries to touch it, I will fight them to the death."

Nangong Tianshou picked up the teacup beside him, which contained honey water given to him by Yu Meng.

"You know the current situation of the Zhou family. I suspect that there are hidden families behind it, but we haven't found any clues yet."

Secretary Wu frowned at him. "Not even a single clue?"

"No, those who oppose us are all our own people; there isn't a single outside force. If you deal with these people, when you look back, the family will only have itself left."

Secretary Wu showed a sympathetic expression.

Nangong Tianshou laughed in anger at his expression, "If you really offend a hidden family, the outcome might not be any better than this."

Secretary Wu's face immediately fell.
