Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 22: All are blessed people

Sister Xiu blinked. "You've lent me the money, but what will you do with Xiao Hui later?"

"It's alright, there's still a month left. Xiao Hui and I will just catch more things." Yu Hai had a clear plan.

"Alright, lend me a gold coin then." Sister Xiu readily stated the amount she wanted.

"Ah, so many? I... I don't have that many right now." Yu Hai looked helplessly at Yu Meng.

"So how much do you have now?" Sister Xiu asked curiously.

"There are only 80 silver coins." Yu Hai's voice trailed off.

"There are only 80 silver coins." Sister Xiu's voice suddenly rose a little. "Only this much money? How dare you say that, lending it to Xiao Hui and then lending it to me?"

"Xiaohui is my friend. If he's in trouble, of course I'll lend him money. You're my sister. If you need money, I'll lend you money too, right?" Yu Hai said matter-of-factly.

"The problem is, you don't have much money," Sister Xiu pointed out incisively. "You don't have money, yet you promised two people you'd lend them money. If you can't keep your word, you're breaking your promise."

Yu Meng knew that Sister Xiu was smart. She was not short of money at all; she already had two large boxes of those green grass beads.

"But, but I've already said it. What do I do now?" Yu Hai realized he had spoken too soon.

"Then lend me these 80 silver coins first. As for Xiao Hui's share, you'll have to figure that out yourself." Sister Xiu didn't say that she wouldn't lend him the money; instead, she borrowed all of Yu Hai's money.

Yu Hai looked at his younger sister with concern. "Little sister, what should I do?"

"Think thrice before you act." Yu Meng succinctly provided the answer.

"Didn't you promise to lend it to Xiaohui in a month?" Sister Xiu said from the side. "Then you should save up as much as possible in this month."

Yu Hai slapped his forehead. "But I can't save much in a month."

Sister Xiu looked at Yu Hai earnestly. "Little brother, everything can only be done after you have money. So be careful with money and don't make promises lightly."

"I'll remember, sis. It won't happen again. But what if Xiaohui comes to me for money and I don't have it?" Although Yu Hai realized his mistake, he hadn't solved the immediate problem.

"You silly little brother. I'm going to the mining group in a couple of days, and then I'll get paid. A month from now, I'll pay you back the money you borrowed from me in full," Sister Xiu said, patting Yu Hai on the shoulder. "Borrowing money and paying it back requires setting a deadline."

"Sister, you're like my own sister." Yu Hai was genuinely happy this time. Sister Xiu was teaching him something.

"I'd love to have a younger brother like you who can lend me money," Sister Xiu said happily.

Yu Meng pouted. "Just keep pretending." However, Yu Meng was still very happy that she was willing to teach Yu Hai some things.

Aunt Yu sat on a chair outside, listening to the three sisters chattering away. "This Sister Xiu is really good. She's very devoted to this family, and she's also very caring towards her younger siblings."

"Even our fourth son thinks she's outstanding, how could she not be good?" Mr. Yu had a very high opinion of Yu Meng's judgment.

At the foot of Qingya Mountain.

A group of people were running at full speed. "Hurry up, everyone hurry up!" A man in camouflage, with a scar on his forehead, stood nearby. "The fast ones, pull the slow ones along."

Yu Jun was currently dragging his fiancée, Guo Fangting, along, running with uneven steps. "Brother Jun, I can't go on, I can't breathe. Let me rest for a while," Guo Fangting said, her hands on her thighs, panting heavily.

Yu Jun was so anxious he was jumping up and down. "This is a life-or-death situation, how can you stop?" He squatted down. "Get on, I'll carry you for a while."

Looking at Yu Jun squatting in front of her, Guo Fangting's tears streamed down her face. "No, this way neither of us will be able to escape."

"Hurry up, we've already run several steps in the time we've been dawdling," Yu Jun urged.

Looking at her weak, sore legs, Guo Fangting gritted her teeth and leaned against Yu Jun. "I'll get down after I catch my breath."

Yu Jun was carrying someone on his back, and slowly fell behind.

Suddenly, he felt much lighter. Looking back, he saw two people supporting Guo Fangting on either side of him, and carrying him as they ran.

"Thanks, brother." Yu Jun was covered in sweat, and his speech was a little slurred.

"It's alright, anyone can lend a hand in a time like this. Let's hurry, the city defense regiment's camp is just ahead."

"Brother Jun, put me down. I can manage," Guo Fangting suddenly said from his back.

"Really? Will it work?" Yu Jun asked, panting heavily as he gradually slowed down. He had reached his limit after running such a long distance.

"Okay." It had to be done, no matter what. Yu Jun's heavy breathing sounded just like the bellows being pulled at home.

Guo Fangting got down. Two people beside her, one pulling Yu Jun and the other pulling Guo Fangting, ran forward quickly. At this moment, no one cared about the gender.

The scarred man was the last to run. He stared intently into the mountains; he had really lost out this time. The only saving grace was that no one had died.

However, all the equipment and supplies were abandoned in the mountains. This is a significant loss, and it's uncertain whether they can be recovered.

He glanced at the three mask-removing masters who were well-protected in the group. His eyes darkened. If the person who could remove the mask from the big guy had been in his group, he might not have ended up like this.

But that person is extremely difficult to invite. She's also connected to the mayor's family, and he can't just rob her. If he tries to invite her, there's a waiting list, and who knows when that will take.

They finally arrived at the city defense regiment's camp. Everyone collapsed to the ground.

Yu Jun lay exhausted on the ground, his clothes soaked through. Guo Fangting shakily approached the city defense soldiers, wanting to get them a bowl of water.

Her legs are still trembling, and she can barely walk. The main reason isn't exhaustion, but rather that she was terrified by that huge creature.

If Yu Jun hadn't carried her during the initial part, she might not have been able to crawl at all.

Someone handed her a bowl of water. She hurried back and held the bowl to Yu Jun's lips, saying, "Take a small sip first."

The person next to him snatched the bowl away. "Are you trying to kill him by giving him water now?"

Guo Fangting looked at him blankly. "He's sweating so much, shouldn't he need to rehydrate?"

Another person chimed in, "He's run so far, we can't give him water now. I heard his lungs might explode."

Guo Fangting slumped down next to Yu Jun. "Brother Jun, I didn't know any of this. Luckily, I have these two brothers, otherwise I would have killed you." After saying that, she buried her face in Yu Jun's chest and sobbed.

Yu Jun reached out and gently patted her back. "Don't cry, my good fortune is yet to come. Dad always says that those who survive a great calamity are destined for good fortune. We are both blessed people."

The two people next to him grinned when they heard him say that. Yes, they were all blessed.
