Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 12 Yu Meng has an extra older sister

Perhaps good things always come in pairs. A few days later, the older brother also brought a girl home.

Yu Meng sat in the courtyard, ignoring her father and older brother's conversation.

But she knew that her older brother's behavior was against the rules. A little while later, her mother came out and sat opposite Yu Meng, her face pale and constantly sighing.

Yu Meng stepped forward, placed her little hand in her mother's hand, and leaned her little body against her mother's.

"Little Si'er, your brother has made a foolish mistake," Mom sighed.

Yu Meng understood what she meant; her older brother shouldn't have brought that girl back.

Yu Meng gently patted her mother's chest with her little hand, "Don't be angry, don't be angry, it will all be resolved."

During lunch, Yu Meng took a close look at the girl. She was about the same age as her sister, thin, with dry, yellow hair, and timid while eating, not picking up any food.

Yu Meng tugged at her mother and gestured with her eyes, and her mother put food on her plate several times.

Yu Meng saw tears in her eyes. She whispered, "Thank you."

In the afternoon, her father asked her older brother to take her home. The girl bowed deeply and then followed her older brother.

Yu Meng followed her parents into the house. Her father then recounted what had happened.

The girl was from Liu Village, about five miles away. She was an adopted child of her grandmother. The two had relied on each other since childhood. Some time ago, her grandmother fell ill, so she risked going into the mountains to find medicine, but she was too weak and fainted.

Your brother's mining group happened to be passing by, and out of kindness, he carried the girl back to town and took her to the hospital.

But who knew, her grandmother couldn't be saved. Before she died, she entrusted the girl to your brother. She'd be happy to be his wife or his sister.

It's such a cliché story. Yu Meng sat there, her little head nodding, as if she were about to fall asleep.

"Little Si'er, what do you think of this girl?" Yu's father asked, looking at Yu Meng.

Yu Meng looked up, her eyes still groggy, at her father. "Would it be alright if she became your brother's wife?"

Seeing his youngest daughter's confused look, Mr. Yu added, "Your older brother agreed to let her be his wife."

Yu Meng's eyes widened instantly. What was going on? Wasn't it a life-saving favor? And now she was offering herself in return?

"Little Si'er, you still haven't said whether it's okay or not?" Mr. Yu asked again.

Mom patted Dad on the shoulder. "You really do listen to everything our little Si'er says."

She dreamed of the scene she saw. The girl had more than 20 lines in her mind, more than her older sister.

But then I think of my older brother, just an ordinary boy. Is he good enough for her?

Yu Meng looked at her father. "Did the girl agree?"

Mr. Yu's eyes lit up as he stared intently at his little daughter. His daughter was usually too lazy to say a word.

Yu Meng sighed. "My brother isn't good enough for her."

Even the mother was surprised. "Is that girl really that good?"

Yu Meng nodded; that girl was indeed very nice.

"It's alright. I'll ask your older brother carefully when he gets back. If he agrees to marry that girl, I'll have your brother treat her even better. If he doesn't agree, that's fine too; just think of it as having another older sister."

Yu Meng smiled and gave her father a thumbs up. "Dad, you're really pushing your luck! This girl is definitely not going to leave our family, right?"

"Good stuff, if you're not bringing it home, are you going to push it out?" Dad said matter-of-factly.

Yu Meng gave her father both thumbs up.

My older brother came home for dinner. Dad carefully asked for his opinion.

The older brother sat there with his head down. Mom glanced at Dad and said softly to Yu Jun, "You need to say what your opinion is, so your dad and I can make a decision for you."

Yu Jun finally raised his head. "If I said I wanted to marry her, you would all agree."

"This decision is the result of your careful consideration," asked Mr. Yu in a deep voice.

"When I carried her to town, everyone from the Cai Group saw it. I ruined that girl's reputation." Yu Jun's voice was filled with pain.

"Do you have a girl you like?" Mom asked softly from the side.

After a long silence, Yu Jun finally nodded.

"You're such a silly child. Your goal was to save people, not to get yourself killed," Dad said, sounding a bit disappointed.

"Okay, go to that girl's house again tomorrow. Have your mother go with you," Dad said.

"Ask her if she'd like to be your sister. It's only natural for a brother to carry his sister to the doctor."

Yu Jun suddenly looked up. "Will this work?"

"Why not? After her grandmother died, she was all alone at home. How can a little girl live?" the mother chimed in. "Just say she's your aunt's lost child."

Yu Meng nodded inwardly. If that girl was smart, this was the best choice.

Mom asked my older brother some questions about the girl he liked. If things went well between him and the girl, their family would prepare to propose marriage on his behalf.

Yu Jun blushed. "I'll ask her about it in a few days."

The next morning, Mom and my older brother went out early.

She came back around noon. When she came in, she told Meng to call this her older sister—Sister Xiu.

Yu Meng smiled and nodded.

At dinner time, everyone in the family was present. Mr. Yu formally introduced Sister Xiu to everyone.

Yu Jun and Da Li have gained a younger sister. Yu Hai and Yu Meng have gained an older sister. Sister Xiu has officially become a member of this family.

Sister Xiu is very diligent. She keeps the house spotless, inside and out. When Dali came back, she remarked, "I already have a wonderful little sister, and now I have another capable one!"

Sister Xiu brought over her line drawing book as well. Yu Meng had secretly glanced at it once. It turned out to be number 85.

Yu Meng knew that the Yu family had struck gold. As long as they treated this girl well, she would surely bring them a lot of help in the future.

Like the other children in the family, Xiujie also calls her father and mother. Her father once asked her if she wanted to take the surname Yu. She shook her head; her surname was her grandmother's, and she didn't want to forget her.

When Mr. Yu went to town, he registered her household registration under the Yu family's household registration book. The relationship section listed her as adopted daughter.

That day, Sister Xiu laughed all day long.

Yu Meng discovered that although Sister Xiu had many lines in her mind, she didn't know how to apply them.

So one day, Dad sent Xiujie to Mr. Zhou's place as well.

Dali has now officially graduated from Mr. Zhou's program. However, Mr. Zhou sometimes assigns tasks, and Dali will help complete them.

Xiu Jie's talent was indeed far superior to Da Li's. In just three months, she had learned many tricks.

Back home, Sister Xiu didn't hold back and taught Yu Meng all the simple tips she had learned.

Yu Meng was very satisfied with Sister Xiu's attentiveness. Da Li had studied with Mr. Zhou for three years, but she hadn't learned as much as Sister Xiu had taught Yu Meng in just three months.
