Why did you provoke me?
Chapter 105 Taking Action Again
"Grandma, how many aliens are in your mind?" Yu Meng asked Grandma Hua while eating.
"There are probably around ten," Granny Hua said after thinking for a moment.
"Probably? Grandma, are you serious?" Yu Meng looked up at her and asked again.
"It's been so long, I really can't remember exactly how many there were," Granny Flower said after thinking carefully. "The containers back then weren't as advanced as they are now, so the aliens that were pulled out would escape once they were put into the containers."
This time, Yu Meng's mouth dropped open. "So you used your own mind as a container and filled it with all these aliens."
Granny Hua nodded. "Don't you know how many people were harmed when the first alien escaped?"
"Aren't there bone-drawing masters like Aunt Qing? Just catch them, right?" Yu Meng was a little skeptical.
"You think all bone artists are like you, able to so easily pull aliens out of their minds?"
Granny Hua paused for a moment, then continued, "Do you remember that strange man who was lying outside your two-story house one day?"
Yu Meng nodded.
"That's the parasite that failed to be pulled out of the alien." Granny Flower's tone was heavy.
Yu Meng forgot to eat. "They weren't born that way, but rather it was artificially created?"
Grandma Hua nodded. "Don't you feel angry? This kind of situation happens all the time."
Yu Meng hesitated for a moment before asking her question. "These people didn't deliberately provoke the Xenomorphs, did they? Since the Unmaskers are alright, why aren't they allowed to do some of the unmasking work?"
Grandma Hua glanced at Yu Meng. "I told you to go to the archives to look at the documents, but you wouldn't go. Now look what's happened—a whole bunch of questions are waiting to be asked of this old woman. Are you trying to kill me with my food?"
Yu Meng lowered her head and remained silent, focusing on eating the food in front of her.
"Yu Meng, you need to understand that some things happen unexpectedly at the beginning, and no one knows what will happen. By the time you find out, some things have already happened."
Yu Meng nodded, indicating that she had heard.
Grandma Hua felt a bit of a toothache when she saw Yu Meng like this.
At the same time, the soldiers escorting the container back to the laboratory suddenly panicked. One of them lay down on the ground, clutching his head.
"Go and report to Grandma!" someone shouted. They then picked up the person lying on the ground and ran towards the room with the fish tank.
But before he could run far, he too collapsed to the ground. The remaining men quickly sounded the alarm. He didn't go to help his two fallen companions, but waited quietly. He knew the alien would eventually enter his mind.
Anyway, there are only the three of them in this space. Let them wreak havoc if they want; who knew that even the current container couldn't contain the aliens?
Upon hearing the bell, Granny Hua immediately ran out. "Yu Meng, the alien you were holding onto has run away!"
Yu Meng hurriedly put down her bowl and chopsticks and ran out with Granny Hua. "It's alright, I'll catch it again once it's gone."
Upon arriving at the laboratory, Yu Meng saw three people lying on the ground.
"Grandma, I'm going in, you stay outside." Yu Meng grabbed Grandma Hua.
"How can that be? This is my responsibility, not yours," Granny Hua insisted.
"Grandma, what can you do even if you catch it? You'll just have to put it back in your enclosure anyway, then all my efforts will have been in vain!"
"Then what's your solution?" Granny Hua asked impatiently.
"There's no other way. Maybe I can use it to do an experiment and see if I can kill it." Yu Meng's tone was not tense at all.
"Stop arguing, let's do it together," Granny Hua relented.
Yu Meng didn't insist any further, and the two of them went into the laboratory together.
Yu Meng carefully examined the three people lying on the ground. "Grandma, it seems there are no aliens in their minds."
Grandma Flower sighed deeply. "Yu Meng, there's another form of the alien, one you may not have seen before. They're like floating spores, wandering around. When they encounter a suitable host, they take root and sprout."
Yu Meng looked around at the space. "Grandma, you're not saying that the alien is hiding somewhere in this space, are you? That would be difficult. How are we supposed to find it?"
Granny Flower closed her eyes briefly. "Let's go outside first. The alien can't stay in the air for long. It will always parasitize again."
Yu Meng pointed to the three people on the ground, "Then let's leave them here."
Granny Hua nodded, "Until they find this alien, this is all they can do."
"Can't we put them on the bed?" Yu Meng asked.
Grandma Hua didn't say anything, but grabbed Yu Meng, and the two walked out of the laboratory.
"If you watch from here, you'll understand why we don't put them on the bed." Granny Hua closed the door and then stood there looking into the laboratory.
"Yu Meng, do you think I'm heartless and inhuman?" Granny Hua's voice was very low.
This time she was careless. She thought the current container could hold the alien, but she was too naive. She ended up harming these people again.
Yu Meng didn't speak. She stared intently at the person on the ground, and she noticed that one of the person's eyelids was moving. Like beads rolling.
Yu Meng reached out and tugged at Granny Hua, "Granny, I saw that alien. I'm going to catch it right now."
Yu Meng didn't go in this time. Her figure moved through the air like a snake, and then Granny Hua witnessed a scene she would never forget.
The line reached that person, and in an instant, it forked, becoming four, then sixteen, growing ever more numerous and denser, until it completely entangled the person into a large cocoon.
Yu Meng watched the moving dot, as lines slowly enveloped it.
Then, Granny Hua saw Yu Meng flick her finger, and a small sphere appeared before her eyes.
Grandma Hua pointed with her finger, and Yu Meng felt something inside move.
"Grandma, is this the only one?" Yu Meng asked, watching Grandma Hua as if she were confirming something.
"That's it," Granny Hua finally said after a long pause.
Yu Meng hooked the thread with her finger. "Leave it with me. I'll take a look at it. If I can't figure it out, I'll come back to you."
"Yu Meng, this is very dangerous," Granny Hua said seriously.
Yu Meng nodded, indicating that she knew.
"Mother-in-law, how about you give me a separate laboratory so I can live in it? It would be safer that way."
Grandma Hua's eyes were filled with conflict. "Yu Meng, it breaks my heart to see you like this."
Yu Meng forced a smile, "My mother-in-law didn't invite me here just so I could enjoy a life of luxury, did she?"
Granny Hua sighed, opened the communication bell in her hand, and relayed Yu Meng's request.
Actually, Yu Meng wasn't as troubled as Granny Hua thought. She had a feeling that if she wanted to kill it, it should be easy.
