Chapter 192 The Vanished Ivan, Heading to New Mexico
"Long time no see, Agent Maria."
Looking at Gwen and Felicia beside him, Peter's eyes darted around, but he didn't choose to get up and walk away to make the phone call.
His little trick worked as expected; upon hearing the distinctly feminine name Maria, both women unconsciously perked up their ears.
While the two were eavesdropping on the call, Hill couldn't help but complain about Peter's outrageous statement:
"If someone still remembers his position as bureau chief, then we should be seeing each other every day."
There was a hint of resentment in his words.
Her cool, mature voice and the keyword "see you every day" made Gwen and Felicia exchange glances unconsciously, and a sense of crisis rose in their hearts.
They had previously thought that their only competitors were each other, but now it seems that their thinking was a bit too naive.
Peter is clearly surrounded by more than just those two women, and there will only be more in the future...
When external pressure is strong enough, internal cooperation becomes an almost natural choice.
The two women reached a consensus almost instantly.
It's always better for best friends to handle things internally than for outsiders to interfere, right?
Peter couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he watched the two women's subtle actions, but outwardly he said nonchalantly:
"I'm just trusting your and Phil's abilities. Seriously, when that black bastard was in charge, didn't he just spend his days drinking coffee in his office?"
"Wow, that makes so much sense, I can't even argue with that." Hill rolled her eyes over the phone.
"Okay, let's get back to the main topic. What's wrong with you that you suddenly contacted me and can't figure it out?"
When Peter asked about serious matters, Hill's voice immediately regained its usual crispness:
"My men found a hammer that fell from the sky in the New Mexico desert, uh... a hammer?"
As they were talking, Hill sent a multimedia message.
The picture shows the Meow Hammer that Peter had just seen not long ago.
Is the story of Thor's arrival on Earth finally about to begin?
This is a great opportunity to take advantage of freebies.
Whether it's the Frostbox, the Destroyer Armor, or Loki's own Frost Giant royal bloodline, they are all valuable items.
But isn't something a little off?
If he remembers correctly, shouldn't the Iron Man 2 storyline have happened before Thor's arrival?
Where did "Marvel's Silas" go, the guy who dared to challenge Tony with just two small leather whips tied to his body?
While Peter was pondering Ivan Vanko's whereabouts, Hill finished recounting the story of the Meowth Hammer.
The situation was much the same as in the movie. Agent Coulson had already led his team to seal off the scene, and the process went incredibly smoothly, with no force trying to interfere.
After understanding the whole story from Hill, Peter decisively decided to take over the case:
"I know where this hammer came from, and I will handle this matter personally."
"Also, help me investigate someone."
"Who?" Hill asked.
"Ivan Vanko, I need his detailed information."
"Received, I'll send you the information later."
After hanging up the phone, Gwen and Felicia could no longer contain their curiosity:
"Peter, what happened?"
"Remember the Thor from the parallel universe that I beat into a pig's head? He's descended to Earth in this universe."
"Emmm..." Gwen gave a somewhat strange look:
"So, he's going to turn into a pig's head again?"
"His treatment this time should be better than last time... but anyway, I have to go to New Mexico."
"What about the university?"
"You decide," Peter said gently, his gaze sweeping over the two girls. "It doesn't matter which university I go to. What matters is that you two are part of my college life. That's enough."
A sweet word instantly touched the softest spot in Gwen and Felicia's hearts, and the sweetness immediately dispelled the slight unpleasantness from before.
"Oh, by the way," Peter asked Felicia before leaving.
"While we were out of this universe, did Tony finish his industrial expo?"
"That's right," Felicia replied.
"The expo was a great success, and your Parker Technology's second-generation unicorn and new energy vehicles were the focus of the entire event."
"Did nothing unexpected happen? Like some crazy guy barging into the venue trying to take Tony down with him or something?" Peter couldn't help but ask.
Felicia chuckled and shook her head:
Why would you ask that? Everything was peaceful and uneventful throughout the expo; nothing unexpected happened.
That's strange!
Could it be that Ivan Vanko has really vanished into thin air?
Peter left the coffee shop with doubts. Since Gwen and Felicia were still considering which university to attend, Peter did not plan to take them with him on this trip to New Mexico.
He hadn't gone far when Hill called again:
"Chief, if you're asking about the son of Anton Vanko, who once worked with Howard Stark... I regret to inform you that he is dead."
"Dead?!" Peter couldn't help but raise his voice. "How did he die?"
"The death certificate issued by the Moscow hospital indicates that he died of alcohol poisoning."
"Moscow? Didn't this guy come to America?"
"There is no record of him in the immigration system."
"Alright..."
After ending his call with Hill, Peter unconsciously fell into deep thought.
This gives the impression of a butterfly effect that one has triggered.
But Peter always felt that things weren't that simple.
Based on past experience, this world has always been one that causes him a lot of trouble. The fact that a minor boss could simply disappear out of thin air like this seems extremely abnormal.
Is there an unseen hand behind all this, plucking the strings of fate?
Was Ivan Vanko really dead? And who has acquired his original Arc Reactor technology?
"Forget it, I won't think about things I can't figure out."
Because he simply couldn't figure it out, Peter gave up thinking about it altogether.
Although the Arc Reactor technology is valuable, it doesn't pose much of a threat to me now.
Even if that guy or someone else were to eventually create an army of robots to deal with him and Tony, he was confident that he could resolve the crisis with his own strength.
So instead of thinking about those things, I might as well go to New Mexico and hang out with those two brothers.
Hmm~ I'll also use the Destroyer to test the power of the Deliberate Punch.
With that in mind, Peter decisively took out his flying skateboard from his storage ring.
Stepping onto his flying skateboard, Peter immediately set off, speeding towards New Mexico.
Using his flying skateboard at Mach-level speed, Peter quickly arrived in New Mexico and made contact with Phil.
At the same time Peter arrived in New Mexico, Saul woke up in the hospital.
Looking at his hospital gown and realizing he had completely lost contact with his beloved Meowth Hammer, Thor couldn't help but let out a mournful cry:
"No!!!"
