Entertainment: A whirlwind marriage with a fairy-like mother at the start!
Chapter 12: People, no contracts! Songs, though, can be sold!
The storm on BBS continues, evolving from simple factionalism into a rally to denounce the phenomenon of "capital bullying" in the entire entertainment industry.
At the center of the storm, the "gunman" named Yu Le acted as if nothing had happened after posting, turned off his computer, and went back to his sofa to watch "The Grand Mansion Gate".
Liu Qianqian was still stunned. The glaring official seal of the "National Copyright Administration" on the computer screen, and the overwhelming supportive comments below, made her feel like she was dreaming.
"What are you still standing there for?" Yu Le asked without turning around. "Would you like braised beef brisket with potatoes or braised pork ribs for dinner?"
Liu Qianqian sniffed, suppressing her pathetic feelings of gratitude and admiration, and replied sullenly.
"……Sirloin."
"Okay, then go peel the potatoes."
"..."
The next few days were unexpectedly calm.
Online storms come and go quickly.
Under the double blow of Yu Le's "Confession of a Loving Father" and the copyright certificate, Xinghai Entertainment's online trolls disappeared.
The song "Invisible Wings" has become a huge hit.
From campus forums to Tianya Music, and then to the entertainment sections of major portal websites, everyone is discussing this "god-level original" song and the amazing father behind it who "stood up for his daughter".
Countless phone calls from record companies and music studios flooded the Beijing Film Academy's administration office, only to be transferred to Liu Xiaoli's small Nokia phone.
"Hello, is this Teacher Liu? This is Hana Music..."
"Hello, this is Rock Records. We'd like to discuss the copyright of 'Invisible Wings'..."
"We are Phantom Entertainment! We can produce an album for Miss Sissi!"
Liu Xiaoli went from being excited at first to becoming numb, and finally simply put her phone on silent.
She was afraid.
After being traumatized by Xinghai's "indenture," she now sees everyone as a human trafficker.
That afternoon, just as Yu Le was cooking the beef brisket in the kitchen, Liu Xiaoli walked in with her phone, which was buzzing incessantly, looking troubled.
"Xiao Yu, another call. It's from something called 'Wheat Field Music'."
Yu Le was skimming off the foam with a spoon when he heard this, and didn't even lift his eyelids.
"Wheat Field? Not bad. It's good enough that 'Golden Farm' didn't call you."
Liu Xiaoli was both amused and exasperated by him: "Be serious! Are you going to answer or not?"
"Go ahead and answer it, I've got nothing better to do anyway." Yu Le turned down the heat, wiped his hands, and said, "Put it on speakerphone."
Liu Xiaoli pressed the answer button, and a clear yet somewhat cautious male voice came through.
"Hello, is this Ms. Liu Xiaoli? I'm Li Ming, a producer at Wheatfield Music. Hope I haven't disturbed you?"
This attitude was much more polite than Tang Hui's before.
Yu Le picked up the phone and lazily said "feed".
Li Ming on the other end of the phone was clearly taken aback, seemingly not expecting a man to answer the phone.
"Hello, may I ask who you are...?"
"I'm her husband," Yu Le blurted out.
In the kitchen, Liu Xiaoli's face flushed red to the roots of her neck, and she reached out and pinched Yu Le's waist.
Wow! That woman really went all out!
Yu Le continued his rambling without changing his expression: "Get to the point, or I'm hanging up. There's meat stewing over here."
"No, no, no!" Li Ming exclaimed urgently. "Sir, we genuinely want to discuss the copyright cooperation for the song 'Invisible Wings,' and we're absolutely sincere!"
"Sincerity?" Yu Le scoffed. "Is your sincerity calculated by weight or by square meter?"
Li Ming was taken aback, but still forced a smile: "Sir, you're joking. We at Wheatfield are dedicated to making music, not doing business."
Wow, their attitude is quite proper.
Yu Le became interested.
"Alright, come over and chat. Write down the address: Xingfuli Community, Chaoyang District... Don't miss out."
After saying that, he hung up the phone without waiting for the other party's reaction.
An hour later, a car horn sounded downstairs.
"They're here."
Yu Le tied the apron around his neck, still holding the freshly sharpened kitchen knife in his hand, and walked to the window to glance down.
A black Audi A6.
These days, people who drive this car are either government officials, nouveau riche, or self-proclaimed cultured bosses.
"Mom, is that Producer Li here?"
Liu Qianqian poked her little head out of the room, holding a half-eaten apple in her hand, her cheeks bulging like a hamster.
"Wipe your mouth clean." Yu Le glanced back at her. "Also, change out of that Doraemon pajamas and dress like a normal human being."
Liu Qianqian looked down at the large Doraemon pocket on her chest, muttered a couple more words of dissatisfaction, and retreated back into her room.
Less than five minutes later, there was a knock on the door.
Yu Le grabbed the kitchen knife and went to open the door.
A man in his thirties stood outside the door, wearing black-rimmed glasses, with long, artistic-looking hair, and carrying a fruit basket.
It was Li Ming, the producer of Wheatfield Music.
Just as Li Ming was about to flash a professional smile, his gaze fell upon the gleaming kitchen knife in Yu Le's hand.
The smile froze on his face.
"Um...did I come at the wrong time?"
Li Ming subconsciously took a step back.
"Perfect timing." Yu Le casually tossed the cleaver onto the shoe cabinet beside him with a crisp "clang." "I was chopping scallions. Come in, no need to change your shoes, no need for formalities."
Li Ming wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and carefully stepped into this small two-bedroom apartment, which was full of life—or rather, overly down-to-earth.
The house is old, with some peeling paint on the walls and furniture that is the old style from the 1990s.
The air was filled with the aroma of stewed beef.
The environment was completely different from the arrogant "mysterious gunman" image he had heard on the phone.
"Teacher Li, please have a seat."
Liu Xiaoli approached somewhat awkwardly. She had specially changed into a decent set of home clothes. Although she tried her best to remain calm, her tightly clasped hands betrayed her nervousness.
After all, she had just turned down a "big order" of 200,000 yuan yesterday, and another one came in today. She was afraid of messing it up again.
Li Ming placed the flowers and fruit basket on the coffee table, his gaze sweeping around the room before finally settling on Liu Qianqian, who had just changed her clothes.
A simple white T-shirt, jeans, and a ponytail.
Without any embellishment, it is so beautiful that you can't take your eyes off it.
Li Ming secretly cheered in his heart.
With that appearance, that charisma, and that voice, it's like God was just feeding them a gift!
"Cough cough."
An untimely cough interrupted Li Ming's appreciation.
Yu Le walked over with two glasses of water and slammed them down in front of Li Ming, splashing a few drops of water out.
"Producer Lee, get your eyes out, they're practically popping out of your head."
Li Ming awkwardly adjusted his glasses and quickly sat up straight.
"Um... Mr. Yu, Ms. Liu, let's not beat around the bush."
Li Ming took a document out of his briefcase, his expression becoming serious.
"We at Wheatfield have high hopes for the song 'Invisible Wings.' Not only the song, but also Ms. Sisi's potential."
"This is a full-contract agreement we have drafted."
It's another full contract.
Upon hearing those two words, Liu Xiaoli instinctively trembled and looked at Yu Le.
Yu Le leaned back in the slightly sagged sofa, crossed her legs high, and took a bite of the apple that Liu Qianqian hadn't finished eating.
"Producer Li, are you not online, or do you think our internet connection has been cut off?"
Li Ming was taken aback: "What do you mean by that, Mr. Yu?"
"The whole Xinghai 'selling himself into servitude' thing has caused a huge uproar online, you don't know about it?"
Yu Le chewed on an apple, his tone indistinct yet revealing a shrewdness.
"Signing someone? Forget about it."
Li Ming grew anxious: "Mr. Yu, Wheatfield Music is different from Xinghai Music! We started out making campus folk songs, emphasizing humanistic care, we wouldn't..."
"stop."
Yu Le raised her hand to interrupt him.
"Don't talk to me about sentimentality, I've given it up."
"Can sentimentality put food on the table? Can it buy these two pounds of beef?"
Yu Le pointed towards the kitchen.
"Let's get straight to the point. We won't sign the artists. But we can sell the songs."
