Transmigrating to the Three Kingdoms as Lu Bu: I Have a Pseudo-Apocalypse System
Chapter 90 Those Who Block My Way Will Die
The two large cavalry forces, one Han and one Xiongnu, clashed and fought each other on the grassland south of Meiji County.
In the Han army camp, Lü Bu was at the forefront, unlike Qu Bei who could only watch from afar.
The dark, heavy halberd in Lü Bu's hand was a 99-pound halberd that he had just taken out of his storage space for this charge to break through the enemy lines.
The first Xiongnu centurion to encounter Lü Bu had just raised his sword when he saw a black shadow flash by. Then he felt a sharp pain and, with only a short scream, lost his life.
The crescent blade of the heavy halberd sliced into his left shoulder, then slashed down diagonally, severing the neck of his warhorse as well.
Blood gushed out like a fountain, and both men and horses perished.
Lu Bu's horse speed remained undiminished, and his halberd swung horizontally, displaying various skills beyond human limits, making him unstoppable even for a single exchange.
"Pfft! Pfft!"
Two Xiongnu cavalrymen charging side by side were cut in half at the waist by Lü Bu's incredibly fast halberd swing.
Their leather armor was like paper in front of the 99-pound halberd; wherever the halberd blade passed, flesh and bone were torn apart, and internal organs were spilled all over the ground.
Lu Bu rode Red Hare like a tiger among sheep.
The heavy halberd cleaved and swept, each swing bringing forth a shower of blood.
The scimitars and spears that the Xiongnu people used to wield occasionally struck Lü Bu, but could only produce a few sparks on his armor. However, when Lü Bu's halberd touched them, they would either die or be maimed.
A Xiongnu chieftain, his eyes bloodshot, thrust a spear at Lu Bu's side, the tip aimed at the weak point where his armor met.
Lu Bu didn't even look at it. He loosened the reins with his left hand, grabbed the spear shaft with lightning speed, and twisted and pulled it.
The squad leader cried out in surprise as he was pulled from his horse and thrown over.
Lu Bu thrust his heavy halberd forward with his right hand, the tip piercing the man's chest and exiting through his back, suspending him in mid-air like a string of candied hawthorns.
With a flick of his wrist, the corpse flew out, knocking down two Hun soldiers behind it.
"Those who block my way shall die!"
Lu Bu roared, his voice booming like thunder.
The surrounding Xiongnu cavalry were so frightened by this fierce power that more than a dozen of them instinctively reined in their horses and turned away, not daring to confront its attack directly.
But that brief hesitation was enough to be fatal.
Cheng Lian followed closely behind Lü Bu's left flank, his ring-pommel sword flashing up and down.
He was a veteran general under Lü Bu. Although his martial arts skills were not as good as Lü Bu's or Zhang Xiu's, he was more than capable of dealing with these ordinary Xiongnu soldiers.
With a single slash, he severed the curved sword of a Xiongnu soldier, along with half of his shoulder, and the Xiongnu soldier screamed as he fell from his horse.
Another rider thrust his spear at him from the side, but Cheng Lian dodged to the side and then slashed the horse's leg with a backhand stroke.
The warhorse neighed and fell to the ground, the Xiongnu soldier on its back fell off, and before he could get up, his chest bones were crushed by the hooves of the personal guards following behind.
"That's exhilarating!" Cheng Lian laughed loudly. "My men, follow me and kill!"
On the right, Zhang Xiu's silver spear gleams like a dragon.
He inherited Tong Yuan's true skills and was an expert marksman, specializing in striking unarmored or lightly armored areas such as the throat, face, and armpits.
Every thrust of the spear resulted in bloodshed.
Three Xiongnu cavalrymen surrounded him in a triangular formation, but Zhang Xiu remained calm and continued to strike with the tip of his spear.
The first spear pierced the Adam's apple of the man on the left, and as it was withdrawn, it deflected the curved sword of the man in the middle. The third spear had already pierced the eye socket of the man on the right. The three spears were as swift as flowing water, and in the blink of an eye, all three men fell from their horses.
The title of "King of Guns in the North" is no exaggeration.
The performance of the ordinary guards was equally astonishing.
These heavy cavalrymen were fully armored, wearing iron helmets and demon masks, with only their eyes showing.
The arrows of the Xiongnu struck the body with a clanging sound, but they could not penetrate the armor of the Han soldiers.
When the scimitar strikes, it leaves at most a white mark, but the impact makes the arm of the person wielding the knife go numb.
Lu Bu's personal guards, however, were much better equipped.
The halberds, spears, and broadswords wielded by the Han soldiers were all forged from fine iron. The spearheads and halberd blades had been repeatedly forged, making them sharp and tough. The ring-pommel broadswords had thick backs, making them suitable for slashing.
A squad leader of personal guards charged into the enemy ranks on horseback, his halberd sweeping across the chest of a Xiongnu soldier.
The Hun's fur coat tore open, blood gushing from his chest. He fell from his horse, clearly beyond saving.
Not far away, another Han army captain with considerable martial skills was surrounded and attacked by three Xiongnu soldiers.
As a result, he first pierced through the enemy charging from the front with his spear, then drew his sword to parry the curved blade slashing from the left, and his warhorse reared up, its hooves slamming into the chest of the enemy on the right.
"puff!"
The sound of the sternum cracking was clearly audible.
The Xiongnu soldiers on the left who had escaped were terrified and turned to run away, but were caught up by the Han army commander and pierced through the back with a spear.
The casualty ratio is too disparate.
The Xiongnu were horrified to discover that even after they had slashed the Han soldiers ten times, the soldiers might only have suffered minor injuries.
If the Han army slashed them, they would either die or be maimed.
A Xiongnu centurion shouted hoarsely, "Concentrate! Concentrate your attack on one point! Even their thickest armor will have gaps!"
He led a dozen or so personal guards to specifically besiege a lone Han heavy cavalryman.
Scimitars, spears, and maces rained down on the guards.
The guard raised his shield to block, and the shield was quickly dented and pitted, but the armor remained intact.
"Attack the horse's legs!" The centurion had a sudden inspiration.
Several Xiongnu soldiers rolled over and swung their swords at the front legs of the warhorse.
The Han cavalryman quickly reined in his horse and retreated, but the warhorse was armored and moved a little slower, and its left foreleg was still slashed.
Fortunately, he was protected by leather armor, so he only suffered superficial injuries and did not break any bones or tendons.
The warhorse neighed in pain and reared up.
The centurion was overjoyed at the sight: "He's panicked, go!"
The crowd surged forward.
Just then, three arrows pierced the air.
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!"
Three Hun soldiers at the forefront were shot in the back and fell to the ground.
The centurion turned around in shock, only to see Lu Bu, fifty paces away, having drawn a powerful bow and now coldly staring at him.
"court death."
Lu Bu uttered two words and then fired three more arrows.
The bowstring vibrated.
The centurion tried to dodge, but the arrow was too fast.
The first arrow pierced his raised scimitar, the blade shattering; the second arrow penetrated his chest, tearing through his armor; the third arrow followed closely, striking him squarely in the face.
The centurion fell backward, his eyes wide open in death.
The remaining Xiongnu soldiers were so frightened that they scattered and fled.
Such scenes are common on the battlefield.
The Xiongnu launched a desperate siege, managing to inflict minor injuries on a Han soldier, only to have him rescued or killed by his Han cavalry comrades who arrived shortly afterward. Almost every attack by the Han army claimed one or more lives.
The battle lasted only a quarter of an hour (about 15 minutes).
The Xiongnu have suffered over a thousand casualties.
Corpses littered the grasslands, piles of human and horse carcasses, blood soaking the frozen earth, gleaming a dark red in the sunlight. The cries of the wounded, the mournful neighing of warhorses, and the clashing of weapons mingled together in a cacophony.
In contrast, only a few of Lü Bu's personal heavy cavalry died in battle, and they were all either alone when surrounded or trampled to death after falling from their horses.
More than 30 people were injured, most of them with minor injuries—their armor was split open and their flesh was cut—but few were seriously injured and disabled.
This attrition ratio completely broke the Xiongnu.
