Looking into the distance, one can see a small town on the coast, its walls made of stone, low and simple, with a flag flying atop the walls bearing the character "Huan". Outside the town are several villages, with scattered thatched huts and wisps of smoke rising from their chimneys.

Huang Zhong snorted coldly: "Yuan Xi, he really thinks he's the emperor. Pass down the order to prepare for landing."

The fleet slowly sailed into the harbor, and the Yuan army soldiers on the shore were stunned when they saw the tall ironclad warships.

They ran to the city to report to Yuan Xi: "Your Majesty! Something terrible has happened! A fleet of ships has arrived at sea. The ships are huge, made of iron, and have cannons on them!"

Huang Zhong stood at the bow of the ship, saw Yuan's army on the shore, raised his hand, and ordered: "Fire!"

Twenty cannons fired simultaneously, and the shells landed in Yuan's army formation, causing chaos and destruction.

Yuan's soldiers had never seen cannons before, and they were so terrified that they scattered and fled.

Yuan Xi was also bombed and covered in dust, and fled back to the city in a sorry state.

Huang Zhong ordered the landing, and two thousand Han soldiers boarded small boats, rushed onto the beach, and lined up to attack.

The soldiers stepped forward, tied Yuan Xi up, and put him on the boat.

Huang Zhong sent men to search the city again, where they found the gold, silver, and weapons that Yuan Xi had brought from the Han Dynasty, and confiscated them all. As for the Japanese in the city, Huang Zhong had no interest in dealing with them and left Yuan Xi's men to guard them for the time being.

In mid-October, Huang Zhong led his fleet north to Yuan Tan's territory of Benzhou.

Yuan Tan occupied the central and eastern part of the Japanese islands, a territory much larger than Yuan Xi's. His capital, Qingcheng, was built on a hill, and its walls were slightly higher than those of Jicheng, but not by much.

Yuan Tan had already received news of Yuan Xi's capture and was terrified. He wanted to escape, but where could he go on the vast ocean? He wanted to fight, but the Han army was coming with unprecedented ironclad warships and cannons; how could he stop them?

He summoned his subordinates to discuss the matter. Some suggested surrendering, while others said they would fight to the death.

Yuan Tan hesitated.

On October 20th, Huang Zhong's fleet appeared off the coast of Qingcheng.

Standing atop the city wall, Yuan Tan looked at the massive ironclad warships on the sea, his last shred of hope vanished.

He said to his subordinates, "Forget it, let's surrender. Lü Bu has unified the world and even destroyed the Kushan Empire. Our small force is no match for him."

His subordinates nodded in agreement.

Yuan Tan ordered a white flag to be raised, and he led a few trusted followers out of the city to surrender.

Upon seeing the white flag, Huang Zhong sneered, "At least you know what's good for you."

He led his personal guards and rode to the city gate.

Yuan Tan knelt on the ground and kowtowed, saying, "Your sinful subject Yuan Tan pays his respects to the General."

Huang Zhong said, "Yuan Tan, do you know your crime?"

Yuan Tan said, "This sinful subject knows his crime. This sinful subject should not have fled overseas, should not have occupied an island and become king, and should not have defied the imperial court. I beg the general to spare my life!"

Huang Zhong said, "His Majesty has decreed that I take you back to Luoyang to await your fate. Guards, tie them up!"

The soldiers stepped forward and tied up Yuan Tan as well.

Huang Zhong then sent men to search Qingcheng again, confiscating Yuan Tan's property and weapons.

At the end of October, Huang Zhong led his fleet back to Liaocheng in Qingzhou and sent men to escort Yuan Tan and Yuan Xi to Luoyang.

In early November, Yuan Tan and Yuan Xi were escorted to Luoyang.

Lü Bu received them in the Taiji Hall.

Yuan Tan and Yuan Xi knelt in the hall, trembling, and repeatedly kowtowed: "Your Majesty, this sinful subject pays his respects! Long live Your Majesty!"

Lu Bu looked down at them coldly and said, "Yuan Tan, Yuan Xi, do you know your crimes?"

Yuan Tan said in a trembling voice, "This sinful subject knows his crime. This sinful subject should not have fled overseas, should not have occupied an island and become king, should not have defied the court. I beg Your Majesty to spare my life!"

Lü Bu said, "Your father, Yuan Shao, opposed me and was ultimately defeated and committed suicide. You brothers, instead of repenting, fled overseas, occupied islands, and even called yourselves King Huan. According to the law, you should be executed."

Yuan Tan and Yuan Xi were terrified, repeatedly kowtowing and crying, "Your Majesty, spare our lives! Your Majesty, spare our lives!"

Lu Bu was silent for a moment, then said, "However, considering that you occupied that land after you fled to the Japanese islands, which can be considered as expanding the territory of the Han Dynasty, I have decided to spare your lives."

Lü Bu said, "I want you to return to the Japanese islands and govern that land for me. Yuan Tan, you will continue to govern Honshu and Hokkaido, and I appoint you as the Governor of Honshu. Yuan Xi, you will continue to govern Kyushu and Shikoku, and I appoint you as the Governor of Kyushu. You must supervise the natives to farm, mine, build roads, and construct houses, making them laborers for the Han Dynasty. If the natives are unruly, you may kill them at will, but you cannot kill Han people. Children born to natives who are of mixed race will be considered Han people; those who are of pure blood will be considered natives.
