Chapter 259 Personal Maid, A Feast for the Eyes
It was just past 5 a.m.
Before dawn, a hazy, bluish light shone through the window.
Lu Wushuang opened her eyes on the hardwood couch in the outer room. Her whole body ached, and exhaustion seeped into her bones. The scene of carrying corpses in the mass grave last night was still swirling in her mind, and her stomach churned. She bit her lower lip hard, swallowing back the nausea.
She threw back the thin blanket and sat up. Her left leg was a little numb, so she rubbed it a couple of times and limped to the door.
According to the rules Yang Guo set last night, she now has to boil water, make tea, and then wake that lecherous man up.
Lu Wushuang pushed open the courtyard gate and went into the small kitchen next door. The kitchen was dark. She groped for the tinderbox, opened the lid, and blew on it to light it. The faint light illuminated a pile of dry firewood and a large iron pot.
She had never lit a fire in her entire life. Back in Lu Family Village, she was a pampered young lady who had everything done for her. After her family was destroyed, she followed Li Mochou, who no longer needed her to do such menial work.
Lu Wushuang grabbed a handful of dry grass and stuffed it into the stove, then took a tinderbox to light it. The dry grass was damp, and a thick plume of black smoke billowed out, directly choking her nose and eyes.
"Cough cough cough!" Lu Wushuang coughed violently, tears streaming down her face. She reached up to rub her eyes, smearing the black ash from the back of her hand onto her fair cheek, leaving several black marks.
She squatted in front of the stove, tears streaming down her face as she tried to stuff firewood into it. The firewood was too thick and wouldn't light. Frustrated and sweating profusely, she poked around in the firebox with a half-burnt stick. Sparks flew out and landed on the back of her hand, burning a red spot.
Lu Wushuang gasped in pain, shaking her hand. Looking at her hands covered in soot and her scalded skin, her resentment amplified. She desperately wanted to smash the kitchen. But she didn't dare. She knew the man inside was ruthless and heartless, a killer who wouldn't blink an eye. She had to endure it.
After a good half hour of fiddling around, a flame finally broke into place in the stove. Steam slowly rose from the water in the large iron pot.
Lu Wushuang scooped half a basin of hot water into a wooden tub and set it aside. Then, she went to the cabinet to find tea leaves. Knowing nothing about tea, she grabbed a handful of coarse tea leaves and threw them directly into the teapot, then poured hot water into it. The tea instantly turned dark brown, emitting a strong, bitter taste.
She carried a wooden basin and a teapot, kicked open the door to the main house, went into the outer room, and then went around the screen to enter the inner room.
The room was dimly lit. Yang Guo lay sprawled on the bed, fast asleep.
Lu Wushuang placed the wooden basin and teapot on the table and walked to the bedside. Looking at Yang Guo's face, she wished she could slap him.
"Get up." Lu Wushuang's voice was stiff.
Yang Guo remained silent.
"Hey! It's dawn!" Lu Wushuang raised her voice and nudged Yang Guo's shoulder.
Yang Guo slowly opened his eyes, his gaze clear, showing no signs of grogginess from just waking up. He had actually been awake for a while; the depletion of his Qi Sea had made his sleep extremely light. He was simply closing his eyes again to recuperate and restore his energy. However, Lu Wushuang was making a lot of noise outside, clanging and banging things around.
"Did I teach you to talk to me like that?" Yang Guo leaned against the headboard, his tone languid.
Lu Wushuang gritted her teeth, took a deep breath, and lowered her voice: "Master, it's time to get up."
"Is the water hot yet?" Yang Guo pointed to the wooden basin on the table. "Wring out a towel and hand it over."
Lu Wushuang turned around and walked to the table. She threw the towel into the hot water, scalding her fingertips until they turned red. She wrung it out haphazardly, but the towel was still dripping wet. She took the wet towel back to the bedside and handed it to Yang Guo.
Yang Guo didn't answer; his gaze fell on Lu Wushuang.
Lu Wushuang was wearing a gray Taoist robe belonging to an outer disciple of the Quanzhen Sect today. Yang Guo had casually tossed it to her last night, and it was clearly too big.
Lu Wushuang bent over, stretching her arms forward. Her wide neckline fell naturally due to her movement, leaving a large gap.
Yang Guo's gaze went straight in without any obstruction.
A vast expanse of snow-white skin rushed into Yang Guo's field of vision. The skin was so white it was dazzling, and the morning light shone through the window paper onto the snow-white skin, giving it a lustrous and alluring glow.
Following the long, slender, fair neck downwards, one sees two remarkably defined and prominent collarbones. The lines of the collarbones are exquisite and crisp, forming a perfectly deep hollow.
Further down, there was a deep, alluring curve. Her two full mounds were slightly compressed by the coarse gray robe, swaying gently up and down with her breath. That expanse of white extended all the way to the deepest part of her collar, seemingly bottomless.
Yang Guo sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes fixed on the scenery, unable to look away.
He silently commented to himself. This girl usually looks thin and frail, but underneath she's surprisingly well-endowed. The snow-white color, the full curves—it's absolutely stunning. The size definitely exceeds his expectations.
Seeing that Yang Guo was hesitant to take the towel, Lu Wushuang followed Yang Guo's gaze and looked down.
She realized what was happening instantly, her face flushing red to her ears. She straightened up abruptly, clutching her collar tightly with her left hand and pulling back with a towel in her right.
"Where are you looking! You lecher!" Lu Wushuang blurted out, both ashamed and angry.
Yang Guo felt no embarrassment whatsoever. Leaning against the headboard, he spoke slowly and deliberately: "You're wearing such a large dress and bending over in front of me. Am I supposed to just close my eyes and not look? Besides, you're my personal maid now. What's wrong with me taking a look? Go, pour some tea."
Lu Wushuang trembled with anger. She threw the towel back into the wooden basin and walked to the table. Her left hand was still tightly gripping her collar, and she used her right hand to lift the teapot and pour herself a cup of tea.
She walked back with the teacup in her hand and handed it to Yang Guo with one hand.
Yang Guo took the teacup, lowered his head, and took a sip.
"puff!"
Yang Guo spat the tea in his mouth directly onto the floor beside the bed. He frowned, his face full of disgust.
"You brewed this tea with Coptis chinensis? Is this even drinkable?" Yang Guo slammed the teacup heavily onto the bedside table.
"The tea is in the cabinet. You just think it's too bitter." Lu Wushuang turned her head away, refusing to look at him.
Yang Guo sat up straight, his playful expression disappearing, replaced by a stern one.
"Lu Wushuang, have you forgotten all the rules I set for you yesterday?" Yang Guo's voice was cold. "First, the water for the tea wasn't boiled, and the tea leaves weren't fully steeped. Second, too many tea leaves were used, making it unbearably bitter. Third, and most importantly, the way you served the tea was incorrect."
Lu Wushuang bit her lip and remained silent.
"Refill it. Bring it over here," Yang Guo ordered.
