I am a wicked dragon, and you want me to fall into goodness?

Chapter 129 Peace and Tranquility Under War

Chapter 129 Stability and Peace Under War (3k)

The sound of horses' hooves shattered the tranquility of the wheat fields, and the knights stood in neat formation at the village entrance.

They are numerous.

As for how many there were, Chief Liam tried to count them, but once the number exceeded twenty, he couldn't count any more.

It's not that the Knights only have about twenty members, but rather that the village chief of Liam can only count to twenty.

He couldn't count any more than that number.

This was a skill he gradually learned while helping the lord raise sheep.

However, compared to raising sheep, he knew more about how to grow wheat, which was the biggest reason why he was able to become the village chief.

The village chief of Liam, his back hunched, stepped forward and bowed to the leading knight commander, asking questions.

"Honorable Knight, I am the village chief of this village. May I ask what brings you here, and how we can serve you?"

Commander Oliver nodded to the village chief and told the elderly chief to rest there for the night and not to ask any further questions.

The village chief, naturally, dared not offend the knight, so he turned around and shouted to the villagers to get to work.

Moving firewood, boiling water, and laying out dry straw, the peaceful village instantly turned into chaos. The children were dragged back into the house by the adults, only daring to peek through the window cracks.

Amy heard the sound of horses' hooves outside and immediately rushed out. She scrambled to the window, grabbed the wooden frame, and stood on tiptoe, pressing her little head against the window crack, her bright eyes wide as she looked out.

The knights at the village entrance stood tall and straight, their silver armor gleaming, long swords hanging at their waists, their very posture exuding an indescribable heroic spirit.

The sunlight was so bright she couldn't bear to blink, her little fists clenched tightly: "Wow! Rodman, I saw the Knight again!"

The worries about getting a tan have long been forgotten.

Amy's mind was filled with images of herself in armor and wielding a sword in the future. Even when Rodman reminded her, she only waved her hand vaguely and didn't turn her head. She just kept grabbing his arm and shaking it vigorously.

"Look! It's the Knights of the Stars!"

"Their armor is so beautiful and looks so powerful! I want to wear armor like that someday, even more impressive than them!"

Rodman saw her staring intently outside without blinking, and following her gaze, he became somewhat angry.

"Hmph, what's so great about it? My father said that I also have the talent to become a knight, and I will become a powerful knight in the future."

As soon as Village Chief Liam led Oliver and his party to a row of empty wooden houses in the village, he hurriedly pointed to the open space next to the houses and gestured.

"Sir Knight, you and the other knights are welcome to rest in these cabins."

"There's a well at the end of the village; we'll heat up the hot water and deliver it there."

Commander Oliver simply nodded slightly and gestured to his adjutant to settle the troops.

The village chief dared not delay any longer, shouting for the villagers to split up and busy themselves, anxiously serving the group of knights, not daring to linger for even the slightest moment.

As an old man, he had witnessed firsthand the unreasonable and brutal nature of these knights when he was young.

They were half rulers; even if the village's roof was flipped over, the villagers could only dare to be angry but dare not speak out, otherwise they would be killed at any time.

This stereotype is ingrained in his mind; it's something he's lived through half a lifetime, and it's not something he can easily change.

When Linor saw the village chief return, she glanced deliberately in the direction of the knights' encampment: "Grandpa Liam, hello, what happened?"

"Why did the Knights suddenly arrive in the village? Has something serious happened?"

The village chief raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead, his brows furrowed tightly, his tone tinged with unease.

"It's Linor. I don't know either. Those knights didn't say anything, they just said to rest in the village for one night and then leave."

He paused, his steps suddenly halting, as if he had suddenly remembered something important. His eyes lit up slightly, and he turned to look at Linor with a softer tone.

"But this is a good opportunity. The goblins in the oak forest to the north are becoming increasingly rampant, which is extremely dangerous."

"If all goes well, we can ask these passing knights for help and have them wipe out that bunch of green-skinned scum."

A genuine smile spread across Linor's face: "This is wonderful news!"

Chief Liam was quite pleased with his brilliant idea, and his cloudy eyes brightened: "I should have thought of that sooner."

"Just you wait, little Linor, we might even save a lot of silver coins."

He shouted in his old but loud voice, and the whole village could hear him.

"Get moving! Bring out all the hidden wheat cakes and smoked meat, and also bring out the pickled vegetables and dried wild fruits from the cellar!"

"We must ensure the knights are well-fed and well-dressed; we cannot neglect them in the slightest!"

Rodman muttered behind Amy, "When I become a knight, I'll definitely be better than them. I can clear out goblins without bothering anyone else!"

Amy's face tightened: "Dream on! I'll definitely become a knight before you!"

"Huh!?" Rodman's competitive spirit wouldn't allow him to lose face in front of the girl.

He stubbornly straightened his neck, rolled up his sleeves to reveal the faint muscle lines on his arms, and tensed his arms tightly.

"That was just because I used to give in to you, not wanting you to cry. Do you think you're that fast?"

Amy copied him, rolling up her sleeves, her arms thin but still taut, and even raising her hand to push his arm.

"No way! That's nothing! I can cut down goblins someday!"

"I can chop two!" Rodman reached out and blocked her hand, raising his voice slightly.

"I'll cut three!" Amy retorted defiantly, her small chest puffed out high.

"I'll chop five!"

"I'll chop ten of them!"

Neither of them would give in, their faces turning red with anger. They pushed and shoved each other, arguing fiercely.

A few kids who had been watching the commotion gathered around and started chattering along.

Some cheered for Amy, while others encouraged Rodman, making the scene even more lively.

Amy panicked, grabbed a thick straw from the ground and used it as a longsword, mimicking the famous slashing motion.

"Look! I already know how to use a sword! When I become a Star Knight, I'll definitely be more impressive than them!"

Rodman shouted, his voice strained, "I am the Star Knight! You can only ever be my squire!"

"You're the servant!"

"Who are you!"

Linor heard the arguing before she even got home. She could hear the incessant bickering from afar, and when she got closer, she saw the two little ones arguing with red eyes.

"Amy, Rodman, what are you two arguing about?"

Neither of them was willing to back down first, so they both turned their heads to the side, their noses almost pointing to the sky.

We were best friends just a moment ago.

Linor was both annoyed and amused. She reached out to ruffle Amy's hair, but the little girl turned her head away.

Before she could say anything more, Amy stomped her foot and shouted, "Rodman is so awful!"

"I'm breaking off all ties with him! I'll never again glean wheat or pick wild berries with him!"

These words ignited Rodman's anger like a match: "Fine, let's break up! Who cares!"

"I won't take you to see the white falcons by the stream anymore, and I won't pick wild fruit for you from the trees anymore!"

Linor shook her head helplessly as she looked at the two children's sullen faces.

She carried the wooden basin to the kitchen, fully aware of what was going on.

These two little guys who have grown up together might be together again in no time.

The sky gradually darkened.

The setting sun dyed the wheat fields a deep gold, and wisps of smoke rose from the rooftops of houses, mingling with the aroma of wheat cakes and smoked meat that drifted through the village.

Some of the knights stayed in the wooden cabins provided by the village, while others built a temporary camp near the cabins, with campfires lit around them.

Chief Liam walked briskly out of the knight's camp, the wrinkles on his face smoothing out.

"Listen up, everyone! Great news! The mighty Commander Oliver has agreed to our request!"

"Tomorrow morning, that knight will send a small squad deep into the oak forest to wipe out those green-skinned scum. Those guys are in for a rough time!"

The news spread among the villagers, and those who had been busy all day showed joy on their faces and cheered quietly.

Aunt Kieran clapped her hands and laughed, "Great! Now we don't have to worry about the kids always being targeted by those green bastards."

Linor was squatting in front of the stove adding firewood.

The firelight made her eyes feel warm, and when she heard the words "Commander Oliver," she paused in adding firewood, and her long ears drooped slightly.

She sighed softly to herself; it really was him.

All things considered, Linor had met him quite a few times, but unfortunately, they weren't exactly close.

Therefore, after this important figure appeared, Linor did not have any intention of going up to greet him.

The flames licked at the firewood, and Linor added a dry piece of wood to the stove. The light drifted unconsciously toward the direction of the knights' camp outside the window.

This team definitely has more than four hundred people, and may even have more than five hundred knights. What could have caused nearly half of the knights to gather together?

"What major event has happened recently?"

Linor couldn't help but ponder this.

The main force of the Second Knights of Starshine is stationed in the royal city and the western frontier year-round. Such a large-scale mobilization is by no means an ordinary rotation event.

Is it a monster horde uprising in the west? Or is it related to the black dragon's legion in the east?

I had heard bits and pieces of news about the Eastern Frontier in previous years, but I had never seen the Knights mobilize such a large force.

But then she shook her head gently, a calm and peaceful look spreading across her eyes.

What good will it do to know?

Now, this wheat field, which we cultivated with our own hands, is right before our eyes, and the heavy ears of wheat will be ready for harvest in a few days.

Inside, Amy's peaceful breathing filled the air as she slept; outside, the tranquil sounds of village life emanated from the houses. Her roots had long since taken hold in these hillside wheat fields.

The conflicts in the royal city and the smoke of war on the border are all too far away.

Even if she knew everything, she couldn't stop anything in the impending war.

Learning more will only add to your troubles.

Linor reached out and poked at the flames in the stove, pressing back the sparks that were drifting out.

I got up to lift the wooden lid of the porridge pot. The rising steam, carrying the aroma of grains, filled my face, dispelling my fleeting thoughts.

The porridge in the pot had thickened, and she stirred it gently with a wooden spoon, her mind filled with thoughts of a more peaceful village after the knights wiped out the goblins.

Time is getting better and better.
