Courtyard House: Initial Donation of 50 Million

Chapter 102 Star-Forged Shield: Craftsmanship and Protection

In the brightly lit, top-floor, confidential design room of the Hongxing United Industrial Corporation's technology center building, Wang Huanbo stood before a massive blueprint covering an entire wall, his brow slightly furrowed. He held a specially made drawing pen, occasionally sketching and modifying the drawing. The blueprint depicted a three-view drawing of an incredibly long and imposing sedan, surrounded by dense annotations of various parameters, material codes, and technical requirements. This was his National Day gift to the old man in Haizi—the ultimate bulletproof vehicle based on the Hongqi Xingyao S600L, internally codenamed "Shield," officially named the Hongqi Xingyao S600L Guard.

Elevating a luxury sedan to the standard of a head-of-state armored vehicle is no easy feat. It's not merely a matter of accumulating technology, but also a testament to craftsmanship, sincerity, and national dignity. Wang Huanbo poured unprecedented effort into it.

Body and Armor: This was the biggest challenge. Extending the standard 5.1-meter body length to 6.1 meters was not a simple matter of superficial redesign. The entire body-in-white structure needed to be redesigned to ensure extremely high torsional rigidity and collision safety even after the extension. Wang Huanbo drew inspiration from a composite structure concept of Predator armor (a vague understanding derived from the system space) and the design ideas of future armored vehicles, adopting a multi-layered composite armor structure: the outermost layer is a special cold-rolled steel plate, the middle layer is a ceramic-aramid composite material interlayer (at the highest standard achievable with current technology), and the inner layer is an anti-scraping coating and advanced sound insulation and vibration damping materials. Key components of the doors, roof, and chassis (such as the fuel tank and drive shaft) were all reinforced. The entire vehicle was welded using a new underwater laser welding process (improved from a three-axis CNC machine tool), ensuring weld strength far exceeding that of ordinary welding. Ultimately, this behemoth reached a staggering 6 tons in curb weight! Equivalent to the weight of three ordinary sedans.

The Powerhouse: Powering this "steel behemoth" requires a robust heart. Wang Huanbo personally oversaw the addition of a turbocharger to the soon-to-be-produced V6 engine. This marks the first time turbocharging technology has been applied to a gasoline engine in China! Leveraging his exceptional mechanical expertise and system blueprints, he solved a series of problems related to turbo lag, heat dissipation, and reliability, squeezing an astonishing 300 horsepower from this 3.0-liter V6 engine! Torque reaches a staggering 450 Nm! Matched with a specially enhanced 4-speed automatic transmission (technology derived from the EA111 platform) and a full-time four-wheel drive system (borrowed from the Mengshi), it ensures ample power and traction in any road condition.

Chassis and Chassis: The chassis has been thoroughly reinforced, and the suspension system adopts a front double wishbone and rear multi-link design, with the groundbreaking addition of a hydraulic vehicle height adjustment system (which can be considered a prototype of chassis lift), allowing the vehicle to be raised to cope with complex road conditions. The braking system is an oversized ventilated disc brake, and ABS anti-lock braking system is standard. The tires are specially made run-flat tires (explosion-proof tires) with a special internal support structure, allowing them to travel at least 50 kilometers at 80 km/h even if punctured by bullets. Equipped with a dual fuel tank design, the total capacity is 200 liters, made of special bulletproof rubber material, and can automatically seal after being hit by bullets.

Safety and protection: this is of paramount importance. Wang Huanbo considered almost all possible risks:

Bulletproof standards: The windows use a multi-layered polycarbonate + bulletproof glass composite structure with a thickness of over 6 cm, and the door steel plates are over 3 cm thick, ensuring that they can withstand close-range shooting from 7.62mm NATO full-power armor-piercing rounds! The chassis is equipped with V-shaped blast-resistant armor, which can effectively resist the explosive impact of grenades or small landmines.

Interior configuration: It features a six-door, three-row seating layout (driver's seat, front passenger seat, two independent rotating seats in the middle row, and a rear VIP seat). The middle row seats can accommodate bodyguards for observation and response. The rear seats provide a spacious and comfortable exclusive space for the VIP, equipped with advanced communication equipment (encrypted radio). The trunk is cleverly designed, opening from behind the rear seats, and contains specially made bulletproof vests, gas masks, first-aid kits (including blood plasma of the same blood type and transfusion equipment), fire extinguishers, and even concealed weapon racks. A small onboard refrigerator is also installed to store blood plasma and emergency medications.

Life support: Equipped with an independent oxygen supply system and a NBC (nuclear, chemical, and biological) filtration system to ensure safe air inside the cabin in extreme environments.

Wang Huanbo practically lived in the design studio, meticulously refining every detail with his core team. The materials lab failed hundreds of times trying to develop qualified composite armor; the engine workshop worked day and night to perfect the turbocharger; and the body shop spent countless sleepless nights working on achieving the exceptional rigidity and precise welding of the long body. But no one complained. Everyone knew they were forging a mobile bulwark for the Republic, a steel Great Wall protecting the most important people in the country!

Two months later, the first Hongqi Xingyao S600L Guard prototype, under strict secrecy, drove into the Hongxing factory's special testing center late at night. The following days were filled with extremely rigorous testing:

Live-fire shooting: At a secret firing range, various firearms were used to fire at vehicle bodies and windows at different distances. The results were exhilarating! All targets were met!

Explosion test: An explosive equivalent to a small landmine was detonated under the chassis. The vehicle shook violently, but the chassis remained intact and the dummy inside was unharmed!

Extreme road testing: High-speed, emergency braking, off-road, and durability tests were conducted at a dedicated test track. The 6-ton vehicle, propelled by 300 horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 11 seconds (extremely fast for an armored vehicle), with a top speed of 160 km/h! The four-wheel drive system and adjustable chassis performed exceptionally well on simulated rough roads!

Environmental testing: high temperature, extreme cold, high altitude... the prototype vehicle withstood the test.

When the final test report was placed on Wang Huanbo's desk, he breathed a long sigh of relief. Success! This Hongqi state limousine, embodying the highest level of domestic industrial technology and even incorporating a touch of "beyond its time," was finally born!
