Andrea's smile remained unchanged as she turned to the hospital bed and picked up the wearable monitor from the nursing tray:

"Your Excellency, may I help Queen Kalandall with the data analysis? You've been standing for so long, you should take a break."

Originally intending to curry favor, he was subtly blocked by Shen Yan's sidestep, subconsciously refusing to let the insect touch Kalander, especially since the other party was in a vulnerable state after surgery.

"I can do it myself."

The operation was not difficult. Shen Yan picked up the monitor and carefully helped the other person put it on. He stared intently at the green data jumping on the computer screen by the bedside, occasionally asking the doctor next to him a few questions.

A hint of disappointment flashed in Andrea's eyes, but she quickly concealed it.

Karandal, who had been keeping his eyes closed, trembled slightly, and opened his icy blue eyes a crack, just in time to see the emotion in Andrea's eyes when he stopped, like tiny needles gently pricking his nerves.

Karandal didn't move, then slowly closed his eyes, his fingers under the blanket slowly clenching.

He's always attracting attention, and since he's the dominant male he's chosen, he certainly won't let other insects get a share.

He silently memorized these things.

The doctor handed over a list of post-operative instructions:

"Your Excellency, this is the post-operative care guideline. It is not recommended to recall the wings for the next week to allow the connection to heal completely and avoid tearing."

"Make sure you eat plenty of protein, and always wear the monitor on your wrist; we'll be monitoring you in real time."

Shen Yan took the guide and read it word by word, even taking a picture of it with his terminal, afraid of missing anything.

Andrea chimed in from the side, "Your Excellency, I've memorized all of this. You can rest assured that I can handle the follow-up care."

"Thanks a lot."

Shen Yan nodded politely, but he wasn't really comfortable entrusting the task to the other party. He was determined to personally oversee Karandal's recovery.

A short while later, Kalandall's eyelashes fluttered slightly again. Shen Yan immediately held his breath, leaned forward slightly, stared intently into his eyes, and spoke in an extremely soft voice:

"How are you feeling? Is there anything that's bothering you?"

The female insect gently shook her head, her gaze unconsciously sweeping towards her back. Sensing the presence of the wings, she had a thought, and the huge, beautiful wings vanished into thin air.

He reached out and placed his hand on the other person's hand, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly. His voice was still a little hoarse, but exceptionally clear: "Thank you."

The two words were soft, like a feather landing on Shen Yan's heart. She leaned down to tuck him in, her voice full of tenderness:

"Why are you thanking me?"

Andrea stood to the side, watching their clasped hands, feeling a lump in her throat. She stepped forward and said, "Queen, you've just woken up. Why don't you drink some Star Beast Milk to replenish your strength? I specially heated it to the perfect drinking temperature."

He reached out to hand over the cup, but Karandel just gave him a cold glance and didn't take it. Instead, he moved closer to Shen Yan, the silent distance separating them like an invisible wall.

That afternoon, the female insect was transferred to the postoperative observation room. Shen Yan stayed by her side almost every step of the way, preparing breakfast by hand every day, afraid that she would pull on the incision on her back if she moved her arm. He even patiently fed her the food, and excitedly calculated how long it would take before she could be discharged from the hospital.

As her personal nurse, Andrea would always see Shen Yan taking care of Karandal personally whenever she delivered nursing supplies on time. The atmosphere between the two insects was quiet and intimate, and no third party could possibly interfere.

He tried to start a conversation, such as, "Your Excellency, how can your precious hands feed a female insect?" or "Queen Kalandel, would you like me to help you get out of bed and walk around?"

Shen Yan always smiled and refused, saying, "I'll do it."

Karandal, on the other hand, didn't give a friendly look. Most of the time, he just nodded faintly and didn't say anything more.

That evening, Andrea came to deliver starberry slices. As soon as she entered the observation room, she saw the male helping the female adjust the height of her pillow, his fingers inadvertently brushing against Calandall's neck.

The female insect didn't dodge; instead, she tilted her head slightly, as if to cooperate with his movement. The fruit plate in the sub-female's hand wobbled, and she almost lost her grip.

He had never seen such a gentle Calander, nor had he ever seen a male so attentive to his partner. The envy mixed with a sense of loss made him take a few more glances.

And this glance was caught by Kalandall.

He looked up at Andrea, his icy blue eyes devoid of emotion, yet seemingly piercing right through her soul. Unable to withstand the immense pressure, the submissive hurriedly put down the fruit plate and said:

"I'm going out now."

He turned and walked away quickly.

After the sub-female hurriedly ran away, the female insect looked up at Shen Yan expressionlessly: "Master, could we please not use Nurse Andrea for the following care?"

Shen Yan had no objection to this; there was no need to ask for his opinion on such a trivial matter. Karandel could make the decision himself. He simply wondered if the nurse had somehow offended the other party.

"No problem, I'll contact the hospital right now. Is there a problem?"

"I'm not used to it."

Karandal didn't give many reasons. He would never say directly, "I don't like the way he looks at you," but would use this most direct method to shut out any potential threats.

He was never the type to be jealous or quarrelsome, and he would never interfere with his partner taking female servants, but he would never allow any insect to seduce the male master in front of him.

A week later, Dr. Li agreed to let Karandal try to spread his wings. The sunlight in the observation room was exceptionally bright, and Shen Yan stood beside him, his palms sweating with nervousness.

Karandal, on the other hand, didn't have much of an emotion. After all, it was his own body, and he knew he had recovered very well. This observation was just a formality.

Close your eyes, concentrate, and slowly unfold the wings on your back.

The pair of blue wings shone even brighter in the sunlight, their patterns shimmering and flowing, appearing even more vibrant than when they first unfolded. Shen Yan, watching him spread his wings, was still taken aback by their beauty, even though she had mentally prepared herself, and couldn't help but exclaim in surprise:

"Wow--"

Upon hearing this, the female insect, as pure as an angel, slowly opened her eyes, her earlobes slightly red. Nothing could make an insect happier than the male's appreciation.

Somewhat shyly, it tried to flap its wings, creating a gentle breeze that brushed against Shen Yan's cheek. The faint fragrance of the other person filled his nostrils, and he couldn't help but take a deep breath.

A wave of top-notch lung-clearing effects.

Dr. Li slid his fingertip across the terminal, and the control system scanned the female insect's entire body. The pale blue wing veins were clearly visible on the screen, and the healing lines at the joints had become smooth.

He looked up at Shen Yan, his tone filled with obvious relief: "Your Excellency, judging from the data, the recovery of Queen Kalandall's wings has far exceeded expectations. The nerve conduction efficiency at the connection point has recovered to 75% of the pre-operative level, and she can be discharged tomorrow."
