That evening, the doorbell of Shen Yan's villa rang again.

It's Miller.

When Xiongzi opened the door, he saw the new customer standing outside. He raised an eyebrow, quite surprised that the other party would come to him.

When her gaze fell on the bouquet of flowers in his arms, which was clearly a little wilted but still being held tightly, she understood a bit.

It seems her advances were rejected.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

The little boy's eyes were red and swollen like two peaches, and there were still tear stains on his fair cheeks. His golden hair was also a little messy, and the whole thing looked pitiful.

He stood at the door, sobbing, the bouquet of flowers he hadn't been able to give now seeming like a silent mockery.

Karandal was carrying a glass of warm water from the living room when he saw the unfamiliar little boy at the door, and a look of surprise appeared on his face.

He didn't recognize the other person, but subconsciously protected his lower abdomen and looked at Shen Yan with some wariness and doubt.

Miller was saddened, but he still maintained basic courtesy.

He sniffed hard, trying to stop his sobs, and looked at the beautiful, aloof, and clearly pregnant female insect not far away. His eyes were filled with tears, but he still bowed respectfully.

Her voice was thick with a nasal tone as she timidly made her request:

"General Karlandel... Hello... Could I borrow Yan Yan for a while?"

His pink crystal-like eyes were filled with pleading, making it hard for the insect to refuse.

What's more, it's such a young and adorable little boy, and now he's crying so sadly. Karandel's maternal instincts are overflowing, and her heart is filled with tenderness.

Looking at Shen Yan, and seeing his master nod slightly, he relaxed as well. He nodded gently to Miller, then slowly walked towards the sofa in the living room, cradling his pregnant belly.

"Please go ahead."

Although he didn't know exactly what had happened, judging from the boy's appearance, he must have suffered some setback.

With permission granted, Miller's last shred of restraint crumbled.

With a loud "waaaah," as if he had found his pillar of support, he threw himself into Xiongzi's arms, buried his face in his chest, and cried so loudly and pitifully that it shook the heavens and earth.

"Waaaaah—Yan Yan! Shen Yan! Help me!!"

She cried and pleaded incoherently, her tears quickly soaking the fabric of Shen Yan's clothes.

Caught off guard by his sudden attack, Xiongzi patted him on the back helplessly and half-carried, half-embraced the crybaby into the living room to avoid attracting attention from insects at the door.

"Okay, okay, stop crying. Tell me slowly, what happened?"

Miller lifted his tear-filled face, sobbing, and clutched the other's sleeve as if grasping at a straw:

"I...I went to pursue Lieutenant General Locke...but...but he doesn't want my flowers, and he doesn't want me either..."

"He also said he's not suited to have a partner, and doesn't want a male master... Waaah... He told me to get lost and never go to him again..."

Shen Yan sighed inwardly, just as he had expected.

"so what?"

Guide the other person to continue speaking.

"So...so I wanted to ask you..."

As if suddenly remembering something important, the young master looked at the male son anxiously.

"How did you manage to win over the general? Can you teach me?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Yan was both amused and exasperated.

I never expected this kid had this idea in mind; he actually came to ask me for advice.

Looking into his eyes, which were filled with determination and tears, I thought for a moment and decided to gently persuade him to give up first, since Locke's situation was too special.

He deliberately used a quote from Miller himself to shut him down:

"I remember you said before, 'If the female insect is disobedient, just replace her, right?'"

"Since General Locke is so hard to win over and makes you so heartbroken, why don't you try pursuing another insect? There are quite a few excellent single female soldiers in the military."

The intention was to make the other party back down, or at least calm down.

To everyone's surprise, Miller cried even harder upon hearing this, shaking his head vigorously like a rattle-drum.

"Ugh... That's different! I didn't have a female insect I liked back then! But... but that's not possible now!"

"I just love Locke! I only want him! You have no idea how good he is."

"Waaah... I can't change! Yan Yan, please, teach me! How did you manage to win over the general back then? I want to learn from you."

Seeing him sobbing uncontrollably yet still stubbornly expressing his feelings, Shen Yan's heart softened a little.

This purity and dedication are indeed rare among male insects.

The little one has decent values; with a little training, he might be a good match.

Looking at him with such admiration and eagerness, asking about his glorious past, Shen Yan couldn't help but feel a little smug.

He cleared his throat, slightly raised his chin, and his face showed undisguised pride.

"Me?"

His tone rose, carrying an obvious air of boasting.

"My relationship with Lanlan was a natural progression!"

As she spoke, she glanced at Karandal on the sofa with a smile, and sure enough, she saw her mistress look away shyly, her ears turning slightly red.

Shen Yan became even more enthusiastic, leaning closer to Miller and lowering his voice, as if sharing some amazing secret:

"Don't let our sweet relationship fool you. To tell you the truth, my wife was really annoyed with me at first! She thought I was trash and frivolous, and she felt like she was going to explode if she touched me."

Upon hearing this, Karandal finally couldn't help but cough lightly, with a hint of reproach, as if reminding him not to say everything.

Shen Yan chuckled and continued recounting his glorious history:

"But so what? I'm sincere! And I'm shameless!"

"He's annoyed with me, so I try to get closer to him."

"He had a cold face, so I smiled at him."

"I'll always be the first one there when he needs me."

"Slowly, I warmed up this iceberg."

He became increasingly pleased with himself, waving his arm in the air as if to hug someone.

"Now? Now he can't live without me. He misses me if he doesn't see me for a day, right, Lanlan?"

He asked that last question to Kalandall, and the cloying sweetness in his tone was almost sickeningly sweet.

His undisguised smugness made her cheeks burn. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, the female insect, taking advantage of Miller's inattention, raised her foot and lightly kicked the male's shin, whispering:

"A mighty ruler!"

Shen Yan wasn't annoyed by being kicked. Instead, he grabbed Karandal's ankle and gently rubbed his ankle bone with his fingertips.

He gave Miller a smiling look, then, still feeling a bit unsatisfied, concluded:

"So the key is to persevere and exchange sincerity for sincerity."

However, after listening to this success story about going from "being disliked" to "being inseparable," Miller paused for two seconds, then pouted. Instead of being encouraged, he felt a deep sadness.

The tears that had just subsided burst forth again, and she cried even more heartbrokenly than before.

"Whoa—!!!"

"But...but Locke didn't even give me a chance to pester him! He just told me to get lost and never see him again!"

Miller felt as if the sky had fallen, and the fabric covering Shen Yan's chest was completely destroyed.

Looking at the little guy's single-minded and clueless appearance, Xiongzi sighed with a mixture of amusement and helplessness.

I pulled out a few tissues and clumsily wiped his tears and snot, then tried to comfort him in a condescending tone:

"Oh dear, my young lord, why are you so stubborn?"

"Just because he doesn't want to see you doesn't mean you should! That won't do!"

"To pursue a female insect, especially a tough one like Locke, you have to have a shameless streak."

He deliberately used vulgar language, hoping to tease Miller and also to enlighten him.

"If he doesn't let you pester him, won't you create opportunities to bump into him?"

"The military headquarters isn't his private property. Surely there are public areas available? When he comes back from a mission, can't you go over and welcome him off, even just take a peek from afar?"

"Just hang around in front of them all the time, trying to make your presence known."

Shen Yan patiently advised, "Remember, even a good woman can be swayed by a persistent man! But be careful not to provoke him too much, and definitely don't cross his bottom line."

"For example, if someone explicitly tells you to get lost, you should disappear immediately and reappear a couple of days later."

"Let him get used to your presence, but without making any mistakes, understand?"

This shameless theory, though seemingly unorthodox, inexplicably gave the desperate Miller a glimmer of light.

The little boy stopped wailing, blinked his big, wet eyes, and nodded as if he understood, firmly engraving the other person's words in his heart.

After much coaxing and persuasion, Miller, who had calmed down, was finally sent away, and the living room returned to quiet.

Kalandall, who had been watching from the sidelines, finally frowned slightly and looked at his lord.

He reached out, not to hug, but to precisely pinch Shen Yan's still smug mouth, like pinching a quacking duck.

"A mighty ruler..."

The female ruler's tone carried disapproval and a hint of worry.

"What are you doing? Locke's current situation... you and I both know that he's simply not ready to invest in a new relationship."

"That would be irresponsible to both him and Lord Miller."

The boy's mouth was pinched, making his speech muffled, but his dark eyes shone brightly, with a knowing glint in them.

"Um... Lanlan... Please listen to me."

He struggled to make a sound, and only continued speaking after Karandal loosened his grip slightly.

"I've met Miril. He's not a bad person at heart, just a bit naive because he's been spoiled. He's actually very kind-hearted."

He pulled his wife's hand down and held it in his palm, his expression becoming more serious, and then kissed her passionately several times.

"Besides, didn't you notice? Last time Locke was at our house, although he didn't show it, there was a longing for a cozy life in his eyes..."

Shen Yan recalled his previous subtle observations, his tone resolute.

"It's not that he doesn't crave warmth, he just doesn't dare to get close."

"That's something Miller can provide for him."

"Besides, this kid has a good temperament and isn't unruly. If we really get together, he'll be the one who listens to his wife."

He paused, looked into his wife's still worried eyes, and stated the most crucial reason:

"Also, as you know, Locke's mental state is in a terrible state, with old wounds compounded by new ones."

"It's not a solution to rely solely on one's own willpower; it's best to have a male insect use its mental energy to gently guide the process."

"Miller's mental talent is not bad, and he is also simple-minded. If... if they really have a chance, it might not be a bad thing for Locke."

Karandal remained silent.

He gripped the male ruler's hand in return, his fingertips unconsciously scratching the other's palm lightly, as if he were thinking, or perhaps silently being affectionate.

Shen Yan immediately understood and didn't urge her. He simply kicked off his slippers and climbed onto the sofa to sit next to his wife.

After a long while, the female ruler sighed softly, her breath gently brushing against Shen Yan's chin.

She raised her eyes to meet the male ruler's smiling dark eyes, her tone softening unconsciously, tinged with dependence:

"You're right... Perhaps this really is an opportunity. But..."

He paused, then unconsciously leaned closer to the other person.

"I'm still a little worried."

"Don't worry, my dear wife."

Seeing that his attitude had softened, Shen Yan immediately tightened his arms, pulling the insect closer into his embrace, so that Kalander's cheek was pressed completely against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.

He lowered his head, his lips almost touching the female ruler's earlobe, his warm breath spraying onto her sensitive skin.

"That little guy looks delicate, but he's incredibly resilient."

As he spoke, his free hand naturally covered Karandel's slightly protruding abdomen, his palm warm, his movements gentle as if afraid of disturbing something.

She's incredibly soft-hearted.

"Now."

His voice deepened, carrying an unmistakable doting and possessiveness, which sounded exceptionally clear in the quiet living room.

"Our most important thing is to take good care of our baby, and his gentlest, most beautiful, and most amazing father in the world."

The female insect's ears burned from his straightforward sweet talk, but she didn't resist at all. Instead, like a cat being stroked, she adjusted herself into a more comfortable position in his arms.

It nuzzled its nose against the male's neck and let out a muffled "hmm".

Shen Yan loved his completely trusting look so much that she couldn't help but lower her head, find his two pale lips, first gently brush them like a feather, then tenderly hold them in her mouth and suckle them softly.

Unlike the previous kisses which were meant to comfort, this one was filled with tender affection and a silent expression of love.

Karandal closed his eyes, his long eyelashes trembling slightly, and obediently opened his lips to respond.

The kiss wasn't intense, but it was incredibly tender. In the quiet living room, the only sounds were their gradually merging breaths and the soft murmur of water.

After the kiss ended, both insects were a little unsteady on their feet.

A faint red tinge appeared at the corners of Karandal's eyes, her gaze moist, and her usually aloof face was now incredibly gentle.

Shen Yan felt a surge of heat in his heart and couldn't help but lean in again, pecking at her slightly swollen lips several times before reluctantly pulling away.

"Lanlan..."

His voice was hoarse, filled with deep longing. Shen Yan pressed his forehead against the other's, their noses rubbing together, their breaths audible.

The female ruler did not answer, but instead stretched out her arms and wrapped them even tighter around his neck, responding to his love with her actions.

"Why do I like you so much..."

His hands started to wander, his fingers slipping quietly under the hem of his pajamas from where they had been neatly placed at his waist.

Karandal's body tensed for a moment, a chill running down his spine.

He was incredibly shy, especially in a relatively open space like the living room, biting his lower lip to keep a sound from leaking out.

The arms wrapped around the other person's neck tightened, a silent, shy acquiescence.

Shen Yan chuckled softly, her arms supporting him steadily, as if she were embracing the whole world.

"I'm thinking about it... going back to the bedroom?"

Shen Yan asked softly, her lips occasionally brushing against Karandel's hair and ear.

"Still here?"

"It will be all right……"
