"Glug, glug..."

Fies stared blankly at the stove fire. After a while, the pot lid started making a constant rattling sound. Then, the soup in the pot overflowed and poured onto the stove with a sizzling sound.

Faith snapped out of her daze, quickly turned down the heat, and reached for the pot lid, only to hiss in pain from the burn. She couldn't lift the lid, but her hand was burned bright red.

Faith shook his hands, rinsed them with cold water, then grabbed a towel and used it to finally lift the pot lid.

Faith glanced at the pot; the ingredients should all be cooked. Although some soup had spilled, there was still enough left to eat, so he quickly turned off the heat.

Just as he turned off the stove, Fies heard the door open. His face lit up with joy, and he quickly left the kitchen and went to the living room.

Sure enough, the previously closed door opened, and a female insect that looked very weak slowly walked out.

The female insect has long orange hair, but the color is very dry; her face is pale, her cheeks are thin, but her features still show traces of her former beauty.

"Dorian, are you alright?" Fies asked, looking at the female insect with concern.

Dorian managed a weak smile.

"Thank goodness, my lord, I'm alright. This mental sea turmoil has passed."

Fies knew that Dorian didn't seem to be alright at all, but there was nothing he could do about it. He could only clench his fists in secret and pretend to believe Dorian's words.

"Really? That's good. I've just finished making dinner, come and have something to eat."

"My lord, I don't have much of an appetite, so I won't eat."

Dorian truly had no appetite. Having just experienced a mental upheaval, he was exhausted and still felt pain all over his body. All he wanted to do was lie in bed for a while.

"That won't do. You've already lost a lot of weight. If you don't eat anything, your body won't be able to take it. I've made soup for tonight, so please drink some," Fiss advised.

Seeing the worry in Fez's eyes, Dorian nodded reluctantly.

Dorian slowly walked to the dining table and sat down. A moment later, Fies brought up two bowls of soup and placed one in front of Dorian.

The soup contained both vegetables and meat. While the taste wasn't particularly good, it wasn't bad either and was palatable.

Fez ate while talking to Dorian.

"Dorian, I got paid today, and I've saved up enough money. Since you're on vacation now, let's go to the black market on the next planet tomorrow and find a high-level male insect to soothe your mind."

Dorian stopped eating and, after a while, said...

"My lord, given my current state of mind, even superficial reassurance won't be very effective. Let's just forget about it and not waste the money."

Fies got impatient and threw the spoon back into the bowl, no longer caring about eating.

"That won't do. We've only offered superficial reassurance, hoping it will at least make you feel less distressed the next time you have a mental breakdown. Look how much pain you're in this time."

Dorian didn't speak, he just kept shaking his head.

After several unsuccessful attempts to persuade him, Fiss could only slump down in his chair.

"It's all my fault. It's all because I'm useless. I was supposed to be your master, but I couldn't even provide you with mental comfort, and I've ruined you like this. If I had known, I shouldn't have..."

"A mighty ruler."

Before Fies could finish speaking, Dorian interrupted him sharply.

Then, Dorian softened his tone and said...

"My lord, don't talk about yourself like that. My current state is my own choice, and has nothing to do with any insects."

"Then Dorian, I will stop cursing myself, and you agree to do the surface-level soothing of the mental sea, okay?"

Seeing the pleading look in Fies's eyes, Dorian hesitated for a moment, then nodded silently.

The moment he saw Dorian nod, Fez broke into a big smile.

Afterwards, the two insects continued eating, and noticing that the atmosphere at the table was a bit dull, Fiss took the initiative to start a conversation.

"Dorian, guess who I ran into today?"

"Who?"

Actually, Dorian wasn't in the mood for conversation because he wasn't feeling well, but he didn't want Fies's topic to fall flat, so he forced himself to pretend to be very interested.

"Your 10th Army Corps Commander's Mighty Lord."

Dorian paused, now he was genuinely interested.

How did you end up meeting him?

"He's the new president of our Military Dependents Alliance, and he's here today to meet us. After all, his position as the Empress is definitely the highest."

Dorian nodded in understanding, then asked.

"Master, how's that male insect? Is he easy to get along with?"

Fies thought for a moment and then answered.

"It's hard to say, we didn't even exchange more than a few words today, but he seemed to have a nice personality and was quite kind."

"Is he really just a D-class male?" Dorian asked again.

"Right, anyway, I heard the former president, that Worcester, secretly cursing him, always saying that he was a damn D-class male insect."

The two insects then chatted about other topics until they finished their dinner.

Dorian wanted to get up and clear the dishes, but Fez stopped him.

Fez told Dorian to rest on the sofa, and then he cleaned up the dishes himself.

Dorian felt weak from his limbs, so he didn't argue with Fies. He thought he could only let the master suffer for a few days and then take back the housework once he recovered a bit.

After cleaning up the dishes, the two insects watched TV on the sofa for a while before taking a shower and going to bed.

......

The clock slowly turned, pointing to twelve o'clock. It was still pitch black outside the window. Fies was fast asleep, but Dorian, exhausted, opened his eyes.

Although the mental turmoil has ended, his mental sea is now riddled with cracks, causing him to endure a constant, subtle pain that makes it impossible for him to fall asleep.

After trying to fall asleep in bed for a while, Dorian still couldn't fall asleep. He could only sigh silently, quietly sit up in bed, and leave the bedroom for the balcony.

After the bedroom door closed, Faith opened her eyes in the darkness.

However, he didn't do anything. He just stared blankly at the empty half of the bed where Dorian was not, his eyes filled with worry and sadness.

Dorian went to the balcony, where there was a deck chair. He sat on the deck chair, staring blankly at the starry sky, while uncontrollably starting to recall the past in his mind.

Lately, I don't know why, I always like to reminisce about the past.

Then, as he thought about it, Dorian remembered what Fez had said at dinner.

He thought to himself, "This is really unexpected. Rhine, who is so profit-driven, would actually marry a D-class male insect."

I initially thought that, given Rhine's personality, she would definitely find me a male insect that matched her in every way to be her master.
