He looked up again in the direction of the Indian soldiers, observing the battlefield through the gaps in the gunfire. He quickly spotted a weakness in the enemy's defenses: although they outnumbered him, their charge was disorganized, and the light machine guns were positioned in highly visible locations, revealing their positions with every shot. A daring plan instantly formed in his mind.

"The second group will outflank me, flank them from the side, and take out their machine gun position!"

The squad leader lowered his voice, his tone decisive, "The rest of you stay on the front line, increase firepower to draw their attention, make sure to tie down their firepower and create opportunities for us! Remember, hold on, reinforcements are on their way!"

"Yes, sir!" The two soldiers responded immediately, their eyes fixed firmly on their squad leader, ready to carry out this dangerous mission.

The soldiers on the front immediately increased their firepower, even throwing their only two grenades. "Boom! Boom!" Two explosions rang out, smoke and dust filled the air, and the Indian charge was temporarily halted.

Taking advantage of this precious gap, the squad leader led two soldiers, using the terrain as cover, and crouched down to quickly sneak towards the Indian's flank.

The Indian light machine gun position was set up on a small hill. Three machine gunners were firing with their heads down, the muzzle flashes particularly conspicuous, completely unaware of the danger quietly approaching from behind.

The squad leader, leading two soldiers, stealthily crept to the bottom of the earthen slope. He gestured for silence, indicating that the two soldiers should flank from the left and right. He himself gripped his rifle with the bayonet fixed and silently approached the machine gunner on the far left. Just as the machine gunner finished firing a magazine and bent down to reload, the squad leader leaped up from the ground and pounced like a tiger, his bayonet piercing the enemy's back with precision and power. The Indian soldier didn't even utter a sound before his body went limp and he collapsed.

The other two machine gunners heard the commotion and were about to turn around when it was too late. The Xia soldiers on both sides opened fire simultaneously. Two shots rang out, and the two Indian machine gunners were killed on the spot, their bodies falling beside the machine gun.

The squad leader snatched the light machine gun, quickly turned it around, and pulled the trigger at the charging Indian soldiers.

"Rat-a-tat-tat!" The crisp sound of machine guns instantly became the main theme of the battlefield. The Indian soldiers who charged ahead fell one after another like wheat being cut down, and screams rose and fell.

Singh, watching from behind, saw everything clearly. His machine gun position had been captured, and he flew into a rage, brandishing his command sword and shouting wildly, "Useless! All useless! So many men can't even handle a few Xia soldiers! Charge! Whoever takes the pass, I'll reward him with a thousand rupees! A generous reward!"

Driven by the promise of a hefty reward, some greedy Indian soldiers, their eyes reddening with greed, temporarily forgot their fear and charged madly towards the Xia soldiers' positions.

Although the Xia soldiers had taken down the enemy's machine gun position, their own ammunition was running low. They had only fired two rounds of full firepower before running out of machine gun bullets.

The young soldier nicknamed "Donkey Egg" had run out of bullets in his Type 56 semi-automatic rifle. Without hesitation, he picked up the bayonet from the ground, gripped it tightly, and looked at his squad leader with unwavering determination: "Squad leader, let's fight! Let's engage them in hand-to-hand combat!"

The squad leader, his eyes resolute as he watched the approaching Indian soldiers, emptied his last magazine, then discarded his light machine gun, picked up a bayonet, and shouted, "Fight to the death! We are soldiers of Xia Kingdom; even if we die, we'll take enough of them down with us! We can't let them cross our lines!"

Just at this critical moment, a strange rumbling sound suddenly came from the sky, like muffled thunder rolling in the clouds.

The squad leader listened carefully, his eyes lit up instantly, and a look of ecstatic joy appeared on his face.

"Everyone, get down immediately! Quick! Our artillery support has arrived!" He shouted with all his might, his voice hoarse with excitement.

Upon hearing this, all the Xia soldiers were overjoyed. Without the slightest hesitation, they quickly found the nearest sturdy cover and lay down, pressing themselves tightly against the ground.

"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!" More than a dozen deafening explosions rang out from behind the Indian soldiers, and the shells, like angry flames falling from the sky, landed precisely in the Indian ranks.

The sudden barrage of artillery fire caused heavy losses to the entire Indian army in an instant; screams and explosions mingled together, echoing through the valley.

The surviving Indian soldiers, covered in dirt and blood, crawled to their feet. They looked at each other in horror and realized that of the original three or four hundred men, only a little over a hundred were still able to stand. The rest had either been killed or wounded and lay on the ground groaning in pain.

Just then, a loud bugle call suddenly rang out, "Toot...toot...toot toot toot toot toot toot!"

The stirring bugle call pierced through the echoes of artillery fire, reverberating through the valleys and instantly igniting the fighting spirit of all the Xia soldiers.

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

The battle cries shook the heavens and the earth. From behind the distant hillside, countless Xia troops surged toward the mountain pass like a tidal wave. Their banners fluttered high in the air, and their footsteps were orderly and powerful, carrying an unstoppable momentum.

The arrogance and greed on the faces of the Indian soldiers had long been replaced by extreme fear. They were so scared that their legs went weak, and they had no courage to fight at all.

The Indian regimental commander named Singh was deathly pale, his body trembling uncontrollably. He muttered to himself, "How could this be... how could they have arrived so quickly... no, this is a trap, a trap specially set by the Xia Kingdom. They did it on purpose, they cheated!"

He simply couldn't believe that he, leading a battalion of soldiers, had been defeated so badly.

Fear completely overwhelmed Singh's reason. He no longer cared about the dignity of his superior and turned to run behind the mountain, trying to escape the battlefield that terrified him.

But as soon as he took a step, he was bumped by an Indian soldier who was also in disarray, and he almost fell to the ground.

Singh, enraged, kicked the soldier aside, brandishing his sword and roaring, "Don't retreat! You lowly, low-caste people, instead of fighting for your country, you want to run away? I'll kill you all!"

But at this point, not a single Indian soldier obeyed his commands.

The fear of death had overwhelmed everything. The soldiers could barely hold their guns, some even throwing them to the ground and running into the mountains with their heads in their hands, wishing they had two more legs.

This completely baffled the Xia soldiers on the front lines. The battle had only just begun, how could the enemy have suffered a complete rout? And with the officers leading the retreat? This battle was far too unexpected.

The squad leader looked at the Indian officer who was running and kicking the soldiers next to him. His eyes turned cold, and he raised his gun, aimed at the officer's leg, and fired a shot.

"Bang!"

The bullet struck Singh precisely in the calf. He screamed, staggered, and fell to the ground, rolling into a nearby haystack.

The squad leader immediately shouted, "Capture him alive! That guy with the big rice dumpling head is their officer. Don't let him get away. That bastard was swearing horribly just now."

A soldier nearby asked curiously, "Squad leader, you can even understand what the Indians are saying?"
