Zhou Weiguo paused for a moment, then nodded: "Okay! Follow me!"

After saying that, he drew his pistol from his waist and led the way towards the courtyard where enemy agents were entrenched, with Hao Dalei and his team following closely behind.

Back outside the courtyard, Zhou Weiguo was in a dilemma—enemy agents and dangerous goods were all in his own space, and he couldn't just conjure them up out of thin air.

He could only instruct Hao Dalei: "Comrade Dalei, have your men block the front and back doors. I'll sneak in first to scout. If I see any strangers coming out or hear gunfire, rush in immediately and kill any resistance you encounter! Also, send someone back to meet up with the backup team."

A flicker of hesitation crossed Hao Dalei's face, as if he wanted to say something, but under Zhou Weiguo's stern tone of "following orders," he stood at attention and replied, "Yes, sir!"

Zhou Weiguo said no more, observed the terrain from left to right, and then rushed out in one stride, stepping lightly over the carved brick seams of the courtyard wall and into the courtyard.

Looking at Zhou Weiguo's agile movements and recalling the words "Guard Regiment" and "National Security," Hao Dalei immediately imagined Zhou Weiguo to be a "secret agent." He only came to his senses when his team members reminded him and quickly arranged the blockade mission.

Inside the courtyard, Zhou Weiguo rushed straight into the main house and then slipped into the space.

He first found ropes and tied up the enemy agents in the space tightly, then put all the explosives, poison gas bombs and radios back in their original positions in the basement before returning to the house.

He released Bald Brother Knife first.

As soon as Dao Ge opened his eyes, he was completely bewildered by his surroundings when Zhou Weiguo raised the butt of his gun and smashed it down on his neck.

"Ouch!" Brother Dao cried out in pain, surprisingly not fainting.

Zhou Weiguo met his gaze and added, "Ouch!" Dao Ge still hadn't fallen, but his eyes were now filled with fear as he looked at Zhou Weiguo.

"Damn it!" Zhou Weiguo cursed under his breath, this time using all his strength to slam the gun butt hard into Dao Ge's neck.

With a "thud," Brother Dao finally collapsed straight down.

Zhou Weiguo touched the spot where he had just hit the enemy, and finally figured out the trick. He then released the enemy agents from the space one by one and knocked them all unconscious using the same method.

The only one Zhou Weiguo did was the skinny guy who died of fright. He deliberately went around to a secluded corner of the yard and made sure no one was around before throwing the body against the wall.

He crouched down to check her breathing and then felt her carotid artery to make sure she was completely lifeless. Only then did he dust off his hands and turn to walk towards the door.

As soon as he unlatched the door, several blinding headlights shone directly at him from afar. Zhou Weiguo was overjoyed—the reinforcements had finally arrived!

Two military trucks screeched to a halt at the alley entrance. As the doors opened, a clatter of footsteps and the clanging of metal filled the air. Wang Jianguo led a squad of heavily armed soldiers rushing over.

"Brother Weiguo! What's going on?" Wang Jianguo asked loudly before he even reached him, his face full of anxiety.

Zhou Weiguo stepped forward and asked rapidly, "Don't ask that yet. What are the arrangements with the Fifth Research Institute and Mr. Lin?"

"The Fifth Research Institute itself has troops stationed there; I've already called them to immediately deploy surveillance!"

Wang Jianguo replied with a serious expression, "Old Zhang led another team to Mr. Lin's residence to investigate. We should have news soon."

Zhou Weiguo finally breathed a sigh of relief and stepped aside to clear the doorway: "Let's come in and take control of them. These are all enemy agents from the Military Intelligence Bureau. If we hadn't run into them today, there would have been a huge mess in Beijing in a couple of days!"

His gaze swept over Hao Dalei beside him, and he added, "Comrade Dalei, I'll trouble your team to be in charge of perimeter security to prevent any from escaping. Don't worry, I will report your achievements truthfully!"

Hao Dalei's face flushed, and he gave a crisp military salute: "Yes, sir! Mission accomplished!"

Zhou Weiguo led Wang Jianguo and others into the courtyard and pointed at the enemy agents lying haphazardly on the ground in the main room: "Brother Wang, have half of the men keep an eye on these guys, they're all tough nut to crack."

Wang Jianguo peeked out and saw more than a dozen people tightly bound. His eyes widened immediately: "Brother, you... took down all of these people by yourself?"

Don't worry about the details.

Zhou Weiguo waved his hand, pulled him up and led him to the basement, saying, "You need to see something with me first."

Pushing open the basement door, Wang Jianguo saw rows of wooden crates covered with danger signs. Reaching out to open one and seeing the explosives and poison gas inside, his face turned deathly pale, and his voice trembled: "Brother, if these things explode, half of Beijing will be in trouble!"

"This is only one-third; there are still two more in the other two places."

Zhou Weiguo said in a heavy tone, "I hope things can be handled smoothly on Lao Zhang's end."

Wang Jianguo suddenly realized what was happening and turned to run outside: "This is a huge problem, we can't handle it, we must report it immediately!"

Zhou Weiguo watched his hurried back and wanted to take the opportunity to slip away, but then he thought that he was a key witness, so he had no choice but to find a stone bench in the yard to sit down and wait.

This wait lasted for more than half an hour. When Wang Jianguo returned, he was accompanied by Old Qin and a middle-aged man in a Zhongshan suit with an extremely dignified aura.

"Oh my, Mr. Qin, why did such a small matter bother you?" Zhou Weiguo quickly went up to him and greeted him with a smile.

But Old Qin didn't give him a friendly look. His brows furrowed, and his tone was clearly reproachful: "What are you trying to prove, kid! Do you really think you're some kind of god just because you came back alive from North Korea? The other side are ruthless Kuomintang agents, and you actually dared to barge in alone? What if something happened to you?!"

Zhou Weiguo then realized that Elder Qin was worried about him, and quickly said with a smile, "Elder Qin, you're too kind. When the country is in trouble, let alone someone like me who has been on the battlefield, even ordinary people should do their part. I am a soldier, and it is my duty to eliminate traitors for the country."

As soon as he finished speaking, the middle-aged man next to him nodded approvingly: "Good lad, you've got guts! How about considering working in our investigation department?"

Zhou Weiguo was stunned for a moment, looking at the middle-aged man and then at Old Qin, his face blank.

Old Qin couldn't help but laugh, tapping his forehead: "You rascal, hurry up and greet Minister Long. This is Minister Long of the Investigation Department, also known as the head of National Security."

"Good morning, Minister Long! I am Zhou Weiguo." Zhou Weiguo quickly stood at attention and saluted.

Long Bu chuckled and patted him on the shoulder: "I've heard of you before, you're a master of firearms and technology, but I didn't expect you to be so agile in combat as well. I wasn't joking earlier, how about you sign up with us? You won't have to go to work every day, it'll be an extra layer of protection for you."

Old Qin pondered for a moment, then silently gave Zhou Weiguo a look.

Zhou Weiguo immediately understood and nodded in agreement, "Thank you, Commander Long! From now on, I'll be your half-soldier!"
