Courtyard House: The Road to an Industrial Power
Chapter 8 Yan Bugui Finds Fault
As Lin Weidong lay in bed that night, he suddenly heard the system's mechanical voice ringing in his mind.
[The host thwarted Yan Bugui's inappropriate behavior and upheld the school's morale. As a reward, an optimized blueprint for an agricultural tractor has been added to the system inventory.]
Lin Weidong was overjoyed. With a thought, a set of detailed blueprints appeared in his mind. The blueprints clearly marked the tractor's engine structure, transmission system, and suspension, and also included optimization solutions for existing agricultural machinery from the 1950s, such as improving fuel efficiency, enhancing off-road performance, and even simplifying maintenance procedures. This thing would absolutely be a revolutionary treasure in modern agricultural production!
He suppressed his excitement and slowly fell asleep after a while.
The next day, Lin Weidong arrived at the fifth-grade classroom with his schoolbag and sat down in an empty seat. The students in the classroom all curiously looked at this little guy who had suddenly transferred there, and whispers rose and fell among them.
"Who is this kid? How come he's in fifth grade already?"
"It seems to be Lin Weidong, a first-grader. I heard he skipped a grade!"
"Really? Skipping fifth grade at seven? That's incredible!"
He Yushui was sitting by the window when she saw Lin Weidong walk in. Her eyes widened instantly, and she almost dropped her pencil. She never imagined that this seven-year-old child, who used to call her "Sister Yushui," would become her classmate today!
Throughout the entire class, He Yushui was somewhat absent-minded, occasionally stealing glances at Lin Weidong. Lin Weidong, on the other hand, sat ramrod straight, listening attentively to the teacher's lecture, occasionally glancing down to take notes, his expression focused. He didn't seem like a child who had just skipped a grade at all; in fact, he was more attentive than the older students in the class.
As soon as the bell rang and the teacher left the classroom, He Yushui rushed to Lin Weidong's seat and asked in a low voice, "Lin Weidong, why are you in fifth grade? Did you really skip a grade?"
Lin Weidong looked up and smiled: "Yes, I applied to the principal yesterday. The principal gave me a fifth-grade test, and after I finished it, he agreed."
"That easy? Fifth-grade material is very difficult. Can you keep up?"
"Don't worry, no problem. I can understand everything the teacher says."
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from the classroom door. Wang Jianjun ran in breathlessly and immediately saw Lin Weidong sitting in the classroom.
He froze for a moment, then his eyes reddened. He rushed to Lin Weidong and said in a tearful voice, "Big brother! Why are you in fifth grade? Don't you want your little brother anymore?"
It turned out that when Wang Jianjun went to school today, he found that Lin Weidong was not in the first-grade classroom. After asking around, he learned that Lin Weidong had skipped a grade and was now in the fifth grade. He panicked, fearing that Lin Weidong would abandon him in the future.
Looking at his pitiful appearance, Lin Weidong couldn't help but laugh: "Why are you crying? I just skipped a grade, it's not like I don't know you anymore."
"Will you still teach me how to do problems in the future?" Wang Jianjun sniffed and asked cautiously.
"Of course I'll teach you. Here's what we'll do: every day after class, come to the fifth grade and I'll tutor you. I guarantee you'll pass your next exam."
Upon hearing this, Wang Jianjun burst into laughter through his tears and nodded quickly, "Okay! Thank you, brother! I'll definitely come every day!"
For the next few days, as soon as the bell rang, Wang Jianjun would rush to the fifth-grade classroom to get extra lessons from Lin Weidong. Lin Weidong explained the first-grade knowledge points to Wang Jianjun in a simple and easy-to-understand way, and also gave him some practice questions to do.
Wang Jianjun studied very diligently and made rapid progress. He could now independently solve arithmetic problems that he used to know nothing about.
Yan Bugui witnessed this scene and was so angry that his teeth itched with rage.
His bonus was deducted this month, and he lost face at school. He had long harbored a deep hatred for Lin Weidong and had been looking for an opportunity to get revenge. Now, seeing that Lin Weidong had not only skipped a grade but was also becoming a "junior teacher" at the school and living a successful life, his jealousy and resentment reached their peak.
That afternoon, Yan Bugui had no classes and deliberately waited outside the fifth-grade classroom. As soon as the bell rang, he saw Wang Jianjun run in, immediately rushed over, grabbed Wang Jianjun's arm, and sternly scolded, "Wang Jianjun! Why aren't you in your own classroom? What are you doing here? You're not paying attention in class, all you think about is playing!"
Wang Jianjun was startled and quickly said, "Teacher Yan, I'm not here to play around. I'm here to have Lin Weidong tutor me."
"Tutoring?" Yan Bugui sneered. "What does a kid who just skipped a grade know about tutoring? It's pure nonsense! Lin Weidong, you're still a student yourself. Why aren't you studying properly? What are you doing messing around all day? Focus on your studies and stop holding other students back!"
Lin Weidong frowned, stood up, and said, "Teacher Yan, I tutored Wang Jianjun without interfering with my own studies or affecting other students. Why can't I tutor him?"
"I said no, and that's final! School is for you to learn, not for you to engage in these crooked practices! From today onwards, no more tutoring! Wang Jianjun, if you dare come to the fifth grade to see him again, I'll tell your dad and he'll teach you a lesson!"
Wang Jianjun was so frightened that he trembled and dared not speak.
Lin Weidong's face darkened, and he said coldly, "Teacher Yan, aren't you settling a personal score? Just because I reported you for leaving get off work early and taking advantage of others, you're deliberately preventing me from tutoring Wang Jianjun?"
"You...you're talking nonsense!"
Yan Bugui's expression changed, and he shouted sternly, "I'm doing this for your own good!"
Lin Weidong scoffed, "For our own good? Teacher Yan, if you truly care about the students, you should focus on teaching properly, instead of constantly thinking about taking advantage of them and deducting their bonuses. Wang Jianjun isn't doing well in his studies, and I'm willing to help him. What's wrong with that?"
The argument between the two attracted a crowd of fifth-grade students, who discussed it animatedly and expressed their dissatisfaction with Yan Bugui's behavior.
He Yushui also stepped forward and mustered her courage to say, "Teacher Yan, it's a good thing that Lin Weidong is tutoring Wang Jianjun. You shouldn't stop him."
"That's right, Teacher Yan, Lin Weidong is amazing, he teaches so well!" The other students chimed in.
Yan Bugui was furious that these students dared to talk back to him. He was about to lash out when he saw Principal Wang walking over.
It turned out that some students had seen the argument and ran to tell the principal.
