Love in the Courtyard: Starting with Engineers

Li Yu and Bai Ling brought their daughter to Victoria Harbour. Looking at the colorful lights and the cruise ships coming and going in the harbor, the daughter happily pointed and said, "It's so beautiful! Daddy, I want to go on a boat too!"

Li Yu picked up Nannan and said with a smile, "Okay, let's go."

As he spoke, he picked up his daughter and walked toward a cruise ship. Just then, Company Commander Zhang came over and stopped Li Yu.

"Chief Engineer Li, you can't go! We just intercepted a suspicious message; some unknown force is watching you. There are likely sentries around the port, and the risk on the ship is too great!"

Li Yu was a little surprised to see the person who came. He had thought that Company Commander Zhang had been disciplined and retired because of the matter at the machinery factory, but he didn't expect him to be here.

The little girl frowned and said, "Daddy, can't we go boating? I want to feed the seagulls."

Bai Ling also gripped Li Yu's hand tightly, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes.

Li Yu patted his daughter's head and said, "Look, Uncle Zhang has already told us not to go. How about we go another day?"

Nannan nodded and said, "Okay, then Nannan must go next time!"

Since they couldn't go to the port, Li Yu simply took his wife and daughter to stroll through the streets of Hong Kong.

They first went into a long-established tea restaurant and ordered a table full of food.

The translucent shrimp dumplings reveal plump shrimp inside when you bite into them. The soft, sweet custard buns release their golden filling with a gentle squeeze.

The little girl's mouth was all greasy from eating, and she was clutching half a pineapple bun in her hand while her eyes were fixed on the char siu buns on the plate, which made Bai Ling laugh. While wiping her mouth, she scolded her, "Eat slowly, no one is going to take it from you."

After dinner, the family went for a stroll, and before long, Li Yu's hands were full of several dolls and several bags of clothes.

A little while later, Nannan went to the toy store and hugged a big plush bear, refusing to let go.

I browsed the pastry shop and bought a whole box of wife cakes and pineapple cakes.

After an afternoon of shopping and eating, Nannan was so tired that she fell asleep on Li Yu's shoulder. However, Li Yu had a keen sense that a cold gaze was always following them, and the system also gave them an emotional boost.

After Bai Ling and Nannan fell asleep, Li Yu quietly left the room.

He followed the faint, elusive scent of someone following him and turned into a quiet alley.

After dealing with the stalkers, Li Yu turned around and went back to the hotel floor, gently knocking on Company Commander Zhang's door.

When Company Commander Zhang opened the door and saw him, he was taken aback at first, but then his expression changed drastically when he saw the commotion behind him.

"The person is at the end of the alley, so clean it up."

Company Commander Zhang immediately nodded: "Understood! Chief Engineer Li, don't worry!"

Back in his room, looking at his sleeping wife and daughter on the bed, the coldness in Li Yu's eyes faded, leaving only lingering fear.

He knew that Hong Kong was no longer a place to stay, and he had to take them away as soon as possible.

Bai Ling only relaxed and fell asleep after she sensed Li Yu's return.

The next morning, Li Yu summoned Lou Zhenhua to the hotel.

He took out a thick stack of blueprints and technical documents from his briefcase and handed them over.

"Mr. Lou, these are the complete design drawings and core technical parameters of the mobile phone. I hope you will immediately establish a mobile phone manufacturing company, relying on Longteng Electronics' semiconductor and memory technology, to first produce a prototype and quickly seize the market opportunity after 2G base stations are deployed."

Lou Zhenhua took the blueprints, glanced at them a few times, and his eyes lit up with an astonishing light.

His voice was filled with excitement: "Chief Engineer Li, this...this is a groundbreaking invention!"

Li Yu said in a deep voice, "I'm taking my family back to Beijing today. I'm leaving things here in your care."

Lou Zhenhua nodded emphatically: "Chief Engineer Li, rest assured, I will certainly live up to your expectations!"

That afternoon, a military transport plane landed smoothly at the military airport in Hong Kong.

Li Yu, holding Bai Ling's hand and carrying the sleeping Nannan, quickly boarded the plane under the escort of Company Commander Zhang and his group.

The gangway retracted, and the plane slowly took off.

The transport plane landed smoothly at the Beijing airport. The moment the cabin door opened, the autumn air of the north, along with the familiar smell of coal smoke, rushed out.

On the tarmac, Lao Zhou, the driver from Longxing Factory, greeted him with a smile: "Chief Engineer Li, you must have had a long journey!"

The little girl skipped and hopped over to Old Zhou: "Uncle Zhou! I brought candy from Hong Kong!"

As the car entered the residential compound, Nannan rushed into her room, dumped all the picture books and toys she had bought in Hong Kong onto her bed, and shouted, "Daddy! I'm going to draw the sea in Hong Kong and stick it on the back of the classroom!"

Just as the food was served, Aunt Wang from next door came over with a plate of freshly steamed cornbread, her voice booming, "Chief Engineer Li's back?"

Li Yu smiled and said, "Yes, you're back."

"Here are some freshly made cornbreads, they smell amazing!" he said, placing them on the table.

Just as Bai Ling was about to invite Aunt Wang to eat with her, Aunt Wang went straight out, saying, "You guys keep eating, I'm going back now!"

Bai Ling could only say to Aunt Wang as she left, "Thank you, Aunt Wang!"

Three months later.

Inside the workshop, the machines continued to hum, and the research and development team for the high-temperature alloy of rocket engines was debating over a new set of test data.

Seeing Li Yu enter, he looked at the experimental data and said, "The high-temperature resistance threshold of the rocket alloy samples needs to be increased by another three percentage points. Also, the first experimental satellite for the BeiDou navigation system is ready for final assembly!"

The mobile phone blueprints sent by Lou Zhenhua were placed in the center of the conference table.
