Hogwarts' Golden Glory

Chapter 36 Hall Stain

Kane did not refuse, after all, the promised reward would take some time to arrive.

He figured it wouldn't hurt to take a little first, especially since the item wasn't worth much, so he decided to take it.

"Okay, I'll accept it for now. You can come to me if you need anything."

After leaving with the twins, Kane rushed straight to the Great Hall, starving!

As soon as Kane stepped into the hall, he saw a tense standoff!

Harry stood in the center, looking completely bewildered.

Ron was surrounded by several girls, standing to one side;

On their opposite side were Draco and Hermione's group.

What happened?

Is the golden trio making a comeback?

The three of them were currently positioned in what appeared to be a delicate triangle.

It just seems that the three main characters have different stances now.

Kane walked over and asked, "What are you guys doing?"

Seeing this, Draco rushed over as if he'd seen a savior, excitedly complaining, "Kane, he's been talking badly about you and even insulted Hermione!"

"Huh? What did you say about us?"

Kane's gaze instantly turned as cold as a glint of light towards Ron.

Ron felt a chill run down his spine when he saw Kane staring at him.

I instinctively took a few steps back, accidentally bumping into the girl behind me as I did so.

"What's wrong? You hypocrite, Malfoy!"

Seemingly because he sensed that there were people behind him encouraging him, he stiffened his neck and stubbornly insisted.

Kane curled his lips into a mocking smile, speaking to the other person in a sarcastic tone.

"Then tell me, how have I been hypocritical? How have I offended you, the esteemed youngest son of the Weasley family?"

It's really unexpected that they're both Weasley children.

Ron is nowhere near as good as his brothers.

Compared to her brothers, she has made no academic achievements, her career plans are a complete mess, she is plagued by feelings of inferiority and jealousy, her emotional control is terrible, and she lacks initiative in her actions...

The only thing worth praising is his chess skills, and the occasional flashes of courage and self-sacrifice.

But he never considered that courage also requires ability!

Fearless courage without matching ability is nothing short of suicide.

Enraged by Kane's mockery, Ron strode up to Kane and roared!

"Hmph! Why are you, a Slytherin, so close to Gryffindor? Isn't it because you have ulterior motives?"

Kane's eyes turned cold, and he reached out and grabbed Ron by the collar, lifting him up with ease.

"Ah! Ah! Let me go, you evil wizard!"

Ron frantically waved his hands in mid-air, trying to break free.

But he weighed at most eighty pounds, and in Kane's hands he was like a lamb to the slaughter.

Kane said coldly, "So you're the one who started the rumors about Hermione, is that it?"

Ron was consumed by fear and couldn't hear anything else, only yelling at the top of his lungs, "Help me, Harry!"

Kane had spent a long time with Professor McGonagall, and there were only a few students left in the Great Hall.

Even though some people noticed the commotion, they were too intimidated by Kane's reputation to step forward and instead just watched the spectacle from the sidelines.

You're kidding, that's Kane. Sixth-year students are no match for him, and Snape is his godfather. Who would dare mess with him?

"Kane, put Ron down first. Maybe there's some misunderstanding."

Upon hearing this, Kane loosened his grip slightly.

Ron then fell straight to the ground with a dull thud.

Kane glanced down at the disheveled Ron, a surge of impulse rising within him; he really wanted to slap this babbling idiot a few times.

But I just finished negotiating a business deal with the other party's brother, so I'll give them and Harry some face.

"Explain yourself, did you spread those rumors?"

At this moment, Kane and his group were all looking at Ron, including Harry.

He had heard those words too, but he didn't know who had spread them.

Hermione's eyes reddened as she listened to the argument, and she bit her lip.

She heard these words this afternoon and was struck dumb, feeling extremely distressed.

Why did Kane attract so much unpleasant gossip just because he kindly helped me?

Some even said they were better suited to Slytherin.

Hermione was also somewhat skeptical, because she had used the method Kane had taught her to sort into houses.

Am I really not a good fit for Gryffindor?

Kane felt a pang of heartache when he saw Hermione's pitiful appearance.

This little witch has always been kind-hearted and has never harbored any evil intentions.

He walked silently to Hermione's side and gently put his arm around her shoulder.

"Don't be sad, I'm here."

Hermione felt a sudden warmth in her heart, as if she had found a sliver of comfort in the cold night.

Ron rubbed his sore bottom, grimacing as he tried to get up. But the pain in his backside prevented him from standing up immediately.

He muttered, "I didn't spread any rumors. What makes you think it was me?"

He looked defiant, completely unaware of how much harm those rumors had caused Hermione.

Just then, a girl standing behind Ron stepped out.

She first glared fiercely at Kane and Hermione, then stood in front of Ron, shouting like a mother hen protecting her chicks, "Stop bullying Ron! He wouldn't do such a thing. I believe him."

Then she looked at Hermione and said disdainfully, "You're all good at playing the victim. Who knows if you made up those rumors to frame Ron?"

The girl crossed her arms, raised her chin slightly, and her eyes were full of provocation.

Hermione was trembling with rage, her knuckles turning white from gripping her wand so tightly.

Her voice, trembling with tears yet brimming with anger, cried out, "How could you slander me like that? I treated you all as classmates and friends, helping you with your studies every day and tackling difficult problems together. When have I ever done anything so despicable!"

Ron, seemingly emboldened by the girl's words, got up from the ground.

He, who has never paid attention to hygiene, completely ignored the dust on his body.

He echoed the girl, saying, "That's right, Hermione. Don't think you're so great just because you know a little more. You probably dislike me a long time ago and want to embarrass me in front of everyone."

Hermione looked at Ron in disbelief, tears streaming down her face.

I felt so bad that I couldn't even speak!

Kane's face was ashen as he stared intently at the two men.

Draco was now ready.

If a fight breaks out later, I will definitely do my best to stop the professor!

Seeing this, the girl persisted, a mocking smile playing on her lips. Pointing at Kane, she said, "Hmph, who knows? Maybe you really just wanted to climb the social ladder by relying on him. You're two-faced, and now that you've been exposed, you're pretending to be innocent."

The students who had been watching the commotion earlier now looked hesitant and started whispering among themselves.

Hermione felt wronged and looked helplessly at Kane, hoping to get some support from him.

Kane gently patted Hermione's shoulder, gave her a reassuring look, and said:

"It's alright, let me do it."
