Hogwarts' Golden Glory

Chapter 177 First Encounter with Lockhart

He finally took the book.

Then he made a gesture that made Dumbledore raise an eyebrow slightly.

He stepped back and gave Lemaître a standard wizard's salute, his voice low and firm:

"teacher."

A hint of relief flashed in Lemaître's eyes. He reached out to help Kane up, his thin hand surprisingly strong.

"Time is running out," Lemaître said. "The power of the Philosopher's Stone is waning, and my life is coming to an end. But before that, I will teach you everything I know."

He pointed to a small table next to the alchemy furnace.

Various strange instruments and materials were displayed on it.

"From today onwards, this will be your classroom. We will begin with the most basic 'matter deconstruction,' then energy transformation, and finally—"

A profound light flashed in Lemaître's eyes. "It's the mystery of life."

Kane nodded, his gaze sweeping over the instruments.

The steps for the experiment have already begun to be constructed in my mind.

Dumbledore coughed lightly: "It seems my mission is accomplished."

He smiled at the two of them. "Nico, Kane, I hope you two have a good working relationship."

Flamel waved his hand: "Don't rush off, Albus. You have to help too—your theory of 'magic is emotion' is equally important to alchemy."

Dumbledore blinked. "It would be an honor."

Kane looked at the two legendary wizards and suddenly realized something.

This is not just a simple apprenticeship ceremony, but a transmission of wisdom that transcends time.

And he, Kane Malfoy, will become the last successor to this great alchemist.

Lemaître patted him on the shoulder: "Ready, son? Our first lesson begins now."

The flames in the alchemy furnace suddenly rose higher.

The silvery-blue light illuminated the entire room.

It also illuminated the burning thirst for knowledge in Kane's eyes.

"Anytime is fine, teacher."

The seven days of learning passed in the blink of an eye.

Inside the magical barrier beneath Devonshire.

Kane, like a dry sponge, greedily absorbed the wisdom accumulated by Lemaître over six hundred years.

They started with the most basic "deconstruction of the essence of matter".

From the complex "magic purification technology" to the most profound "life energy conversion principle".

Every day, Kane could bring a glimmer of surprise to Lemaître's aged eyes.

"Your comprehension speed is amazing."

On the evening of the seventh day, Flamel put down the crystal measuring cup in his hand, his voice filled with weariness and satisfaction, "In six hundred years, I have never seen such talent."

His wife, Perenall—an equally aged but elegant witch—gently pushed open the door.

He was holding a pot of steaming medicinal tea.

"Nico, it's time to rest." Her voice was gentle but left no room for refusal.

Lemaître nodded and turned to Kane: "That concludes our lesson, son. You've learned enough these past few days; it's time to digest it."

Kane closed the heavy alchemy notebook.

He rose and gave the two elders a standard wizard's bow: "Thank you for your teachings, teachers. Please get some rest."

His tone carried an unusual respect.

During those seven days, Kane not only witnessed Lemaître's unparalleled wisdom.

He also witnessed the perseverance of this 600-year-old man as he demonstrated each complicated step to him, despite his frail body.

This pure pursuit of knowledge earned Kane's heartfelt respect.

After the Lemaîtres and his wife left.

Dumbledore emerged from the shadows, his blue eyes behind his half-moon spectacles gleaming with pleasure: "It seems you two are getting along quite well."

"Master Lemaître was a true sage."

Kane's brief assessment was already a great compliment to him.

"That's true."

Dumbledore smiled and said, "However, I just received an invitation from Cornelius Fudge. He is hosting an international wizarding fraternity in the Lumière Valley in France and has invited us to join him."

Kane raised an eyebrow: "Us?"

"You and your family are also among those invited," Dumbledore winked.

Kane then remembered the invitation Draco had mentioned seven days earlier.

The distorted feeling of the door key had just dissipated.

A dreamlike scene unfolded before Kane's eyes—the Lumière Valley.

France's most renowned wizarding resort, a magical paradise shrouded in eternal twilight.

The sky was a soft purple-gold color.

Several ornately decorated airships slowly sailed by.

The hull is carved with intricate iris patterns.

The streets are paved with glowing cobblestones that change color with the footsteps of pedestrians.

The shop windows on both sides are filled with a dazzling array of items, including automatically stirring crucibles, dancing wine bottles, and floating magical jewels.

"Even more exaggerated than the Daily Prophet described," Kane commented casually.

Dumbledore smiled beside him: "French wizards have always known how to enjoy life."

Not far away, Fudge, with his pregnant belly, greeted a group of well-dressed wizards with a big smile.

His gaze swept over Kane and Dumbledore, and he immediately waved, "Albus! Kane! Over here!"

Kane frowned slightly—Fudge's enthusiasm always carried a certain calculation.

"Is this the eldest son of the Malfoy family?"

A French wizard with a fine mustache sized up Kane.

"I am Philippe de Montclair, Director of the French Department of Magical Law Enforcement."

Kane nodded politely.

Montclair suddenly lowered her voice: "I heard you've been in Devonshire lately? What's there besides wasteland?"

"Inspection of family businesses." Kane said without changing his expression, "The Malfoy family has several secluded medicinal herb plantations in the south."

This answer elicited a flicker of disappointment in the eyes of the French official.

They had heard a rumor these days that Nicholas Lemay, the immortal alchemist, had taken on a student.

A burst of exaggerated laughter suddenly erupted from the crowd, followed by screams.

"Merlin! It's Gilderoy Lockhart!"

"He's even more handsome than he looks on the cover of Witch Weekly!"

"Please give me your autograph!"

The crowd parted like a tide.

Gilderoy Lockhart strode in wearing a dazzling peacock blue robe.

His blond hair was tied into a small braid at the back of his head.

With each step, the golden peacock feathers embroidered on the robe swayed gently, as if they were truly spreading their tails.

"Dear friends!"

Lockhart opened his arms, revealing his signature, sparkling smile.

"It's such an honor to meet you all on such a beautiful night!"

Dumbledore narrowed his eyes slightly: "Giddro, I didn't expect to meet you here."

Lockhart immediately turned to Dumbledore and gave an exaggerated bow: "Dear Headmaster! I just received your invitation and was preparing to visit you at Hogwarts tomorrow!"

He patted the peacock brooch pinned to his chest. "Can you imagine how excited I am? I finally have the opportunity to pass on my adventurous experiences to the younger generation!"
