Hogwarts' Golden Glory

Chapter 138 Detection

Lu Ping rubbed his still-aching nose.

He unfolded the flattened envelope with a sigh: "At least it didn't throw the letter into the campfire..."

This is Sirius Black's style in the letters.

Lupin's heart suddenly started beating faster.

He tore open the sealing wax; inside the parchment were only a few words:

"Moon Face:"

See you in court tomorrow. But watch out for Kane Malfoy—that guy's even more ruthless than his father.

Lupin looked up and met Kane's probing gaze.

The boy smiled slightly, a smile that was elegant and appropriate, perfectly in line with the Malfoy family's standards.

But in the dim light, Lupin was inexplicably reminded of Snape's expression when he was brewing poison.

"Mr. Black's letter?" Kane asked softly. "Hopefully he didn't say anything bad about me."

Lu Ping's heart tightened, and he squeezed the letter paper with a little force, crumpling one corner.

"Uh...nothing like that."

Snape's black robes billowed at the doorway as he coldly glanced into the room.

Snape scoffed, "If you're going to reply to Black with blood, I suggest you find a more respectable way."

He turned to leave, but Kane suddenly spoke up: "Professor, wait a moment."

Snape stopped in his tracks, without turning around: "What, Master Malfoy, do you want me to stay and admire the werewolf's dwelling?"

Kane ignored his taunts.

Kane had already drawn his wand, his movements so fast they almost left afterimages.

"Healed as before," he murmured, and a soft blue light shone from the tip of his wand.

But Lu Ping's head wound only shrank slightly.

Soon, new beads of blood seeped out and slid down her pale cheeks.

"Werewolves' spell resistance?" Kane frowned and immediately changed his strategy.

He handed a bottle of ointment to the other person.

"A mixture of datura and evening primrose," he explained, "is particularly effective against injuries caused by iron."

Snape watched Kane's actions with a cold eye.

He suddenly chuckled, "Stop with your fancy tricks, Malfoy. A werewolf's healing abilities are more than enough to handle this minor injury."

Lupin took the ointment.

"Thank you," he said softly. "I didn't expect the young master of the Malfoy family to be proficient in healing magic."

Kane shrugged casually.

"Just some practical tips." He glanced meaningfully at the pliers on the ground. "After all, you have to take responsibility for cleaning up the mess if you injure someone."

Snape's black robes billowed impatiently in the doorway. "Should I prepare some refreshments for you to continue this cozy midnight tea party?"

Lupin smiled wryly and handed the ointment back to Kane: "I think Professor Snape is right, this little injury is really nothing to make a fuss about."

“Of course,” Snape sneered, “to a beast, this blood is nothing more than an appetizer before dinner.”

Kane didn't take it back. "Take it, but next time, I suggest you take the potion directly instead of trying to catch the pliers with your head."

Before Lupin could speak, Snape flung open the door: "Enough! If you intend to continue researching the potion's effects, at least find a suitable place."

Kane stared at Lupin's still-bleeding wound, and suddenly something occurred to him.

"Mr. Lupin, would you like to come to Malfoy Manor to help us observe the effects of the potion?"

Lupin initially wanted to refuse.

Then Kane said from behind, "Besides, your appearance in court tomorrow will determine Mr. Blake's fate. You wouldn't want Mr. Blake to see you like this, would you?"

Lupin looked at his tattered clothes.

Indeed, he had no clothes left to wear.

But he still wanted to refuse.

Kane then teleported Lupin and Snape.

"It seems Mr. Lupin has agreed. Let's go then!"

In the blink of an eye, we arrived at Malfoy Manor.

I heard Dobby cheering as soon as I got back.

"Young Master, Young Master Kane is back!"

Kane instructed, "Dobby, find this gentleman some clean clothes."

Lupin was also a little dizzy at this moment. Had he just followed along like this?

But Kane started his charade again: "Think about it, Professor—the Wizengamo trial is tomorrow, and Sirius hasn't seen you in twelve years. He looks up and finds you with torn clothes and a scab on your head from being hit by pliers, looking like you just crawled out of a troll's den..."

He shook his head with feigned regret, "He might just break out of prison on the spot, just to find you a decent therapist."

"Of course, you can refuse."

"But let me remind you—Rita Skeeter will definitely choose the most disheveled photo of you for the front page of tomorrow's Daily Prophet."

In the end, Lupin compromised.

After all, they're already here.

The Lucius couple had already gone to rest.

The underground laboratory at Malfoy Manor is even larger than the Potions classroom at Hogwarts.

As soon as Snape entered, he found the most comfortable spot—a high-backed chair covered in dragon skin.

There were even three cups of steaming black tea thoughtfully placed on the small table next to them.

Snape sat in a chair, sipping his black tea.

I was suddenly stunned!

His face was filled with the question, "Why am I here?"

"Stop wasting time. You're still in the mood for tea? I don't want to stay here tonight!"

"Let's test Mr. Lupin's magical activity first."

Kane took out a silver needle inlaid with moonstone and gently inserted it into Lupin's wrist.

The moment the needle tip touched the skin, silver-blue light patterns spread out along the blood vessels like a spider web.

"Your wolfsbane concentration is 80% lower than a normal werewolf's," Kane stared at the displayed data, "but your mana circuits are showing abnormal resonance—have you recently come into contact with any dark magic items?"

Lupin was taken aback: "No?"

"Think about it again carefully, otherwise this situation wouldn't have occurred!"

Urged on by Kane, Lupin actually remembered!

"I think there was one, it was Fenrir's pendant. I saw him trying to do something to a Muggle child, so I stepped in to stop him, and during that time he seemed to pull out a pendant!"

It was because he stopped Fenrir that Fenrir's men had been tracking him for the past few days.

Kane nodded. "No wonder, it must be the pendant's fault. Your magic patterns look like a messy spiderweb right now, but it's not a big problem, it'll be fine in a few days."

By this time, Lupin's head wound had healed.

Kane couldn't help but marvel at the werewolf's powerful healing ability.

"Now there is another test to see if you can maintain your sanity in wolf form."

Snape finally sat up straight: "Are you crazy? Conducting a full transformation test here?"

"So I need your help," Kane blinked innocently, "If Mr. Lupin gets out of control, my teacher certainly won't stand by and watch him die."

In the end, the two agreed.

Kane took a small bottle of scarlet liquid from the safe.

"Concentrated moonlight extract," he shook the bottle, "will forcibly trigger a 10-minute full wolf transformation if ingested."
