Hogwarts' Golden Glory
Chapter 13 Disarming Percy
"Hmm!" Percy was secretly delighted when he heard that someone was bullying his classmate, feeling that his chance to show off his skills had come.
He immediately raised his chin and said arrogantly, "You two! After the division of departments is over, I will inform your dean and you will have points deducted!"
At this point, Percy, without understanding the full picture, recklessly used his power as prefect.
His demeanor seemed to say that he was the master of this carriage, and this feeling of control over everything intoxicated him, as if he had tasted the sweetness of power.
Upon hearing this, Draco turned pale with fright.
He never imagined that he would already be tarnishing the college's reputation before even officially enrolling. If his father found out, the consequences would be unimaginable.
However, when he caught sight of Kane among those being punished, he felt a little better, thinking that at least he had someone to share the burden with, and he couldn't help but turn his gaze to Kane.
Kane was thoroughly enraged by Percy's indiscriminate behavior. His eyes widened as he questioned him!
"As a prefect, how can you so easily frame innocent people?"
In Kane's view, although he was not a perfect philanthropist, he was by no means a pushover to be bullied, much less someone who could be wronged at will.
"What? You're not convinced?"
Percy glanced at Kane with disdain, a mocking sneer playing on his lips. "Hmph, arrogant brat, you're from the Malfoy family, aren't you? Just as expected, all Malfoys are like this, utterly arrogant and rude!"
Seeing the deep prejudice the other party held against his family, Kane's anger flared even more, and he showed no mercy.
His sharp gaze fell on the trembling mouse in Ron's pocket, and he said coldly, "Oh? Is that so? At least in our family, we wouldn't let our children wear discarded old robes, use discarded old wands, or raise abandoned mice that have lived for over ten years!"
Kane said, looking at the rat perched on Ron's pocket.
Peter Pettigrew, who was perched on Ron's pocket, was dumbfounded when he heard this. He secretly lamented to himself: How did this suddenly get involved with me?
Harry stood to the side, listening to Kane's words, and couldn't help but think of his previous impoverished life, a pang of sadness rising in his heart.
He thought to himself that if he hadn't come to Hogwarts, he might still be wearing Dudley's baggy old clothes, being ridiculed and bullied by his classmates in the Muggle school.
Or, if his parents hadn't left him an inheritance, he probably wouldn't have been able to afford even a decent old piece of clothing and would have had to live in tattered clothes.
However, Kane didn't notice at this time that Harry, who regarded Kane as his first friend in the wizarding world, was already silently heartbroken.
Even knowing this, he could only attack the other party in this way, since it seemed that poverty was the only weakness of the Weasley family. Kane could only silently apologize to Harry.
Ron's face turned bright red. He naturally understood that Kane was referring to him. The feeling of being humiliated in public made him wish he could disappear into a crack in the ground.
Percy, however, seemed oblivious to his brother's embarrassment. After all, he was now wearing a brand-new robe and felt that he had completely severed ties with those impoverished days of the past, and that the poverty he had once known was no longer associated with him.
"Hmph, as expected of the shallow Malfoy family. They have nothing to boast about except money!"
Percy glared at Kane, his eyes filled with jealousy and resentment.
Seeing this, Kane sneered, his gaze fixed on Percy's brand-new clothes and gleaming shoes. He retorted without hesitation, "Oh? Is that so? You've just become a prefect and can't wait to put on a new robe. How impressive! What, now that you have a little power, you've forgotten about your brother, not caring what he wears or what he uses?"
These words were like a sharp blade, piercing straight into Percy's heart, brutally tearing open the scars he least wanted to be mentioned. The humiliation and helplessness he had suffered because of poverty surged into his heart instantly, making him extremely angry.
"You sharp-tongued brat, I'll teach you a lesson!"
Percy could no longer contain his anger. In full view of everyone, he suddenly drew his wand and pointed it at Kane. The tip of the wand gleamed with a dangerous light, as if it were about to unleash a deadly spell at any moment.
Everyone was stunned by what they saw. Openly pulling out a wand on a train was a violation of school rules.
Moreover, it was quite unexpected that a prefect would do such a thing to a freshman.
Everyone was holding their breath for Kane, thinking that he was definitely doomed this time.
Even Hermione, who had previously thought Kane was a second-year student, couldn't help but worry about him now. She didn't think Kane could withstand Percy's attack, who was a prefect.
Hermione was extremely anxious and was about to step forward to explain to Kane and try to defuse the crisis.
However, Kane reacted swiftly at that moment.
"Disarm you!"
A flash of light appeared, and Percy's wand suddenly flew out of control and fell to the ground with a "thud".
Percy stared in shock at his empty hands, then at the wand lying on the ground, his eyes filled with disbelief.
He simply couldn't believe that he, a dignified Gryffindor prefect, had been so easily disarmed by a freshman! It was an utter disgrace!
I was actually disarmed by a freshman!
Meanwhile, Kane, standing next to Hermione, was raising his wand at Percy, who had just been swaggering around.
"You can insult someone so badly, you can't even beat them in a fight! And you're a prefect? You should go back to taking care of your kids!"
Kane continued to provoke Percy, who had been disarmed by him, ignoring the facts and showing arrogance—something Kane hated most!
At that moment, Percy felt as if the air around him had frozen, and everyone's gaze was like needles piercing him.
He wished he could disappear from this place immediately, to find a crack in the ground to crawl into. Overwhelmed by this extreme humiliation, he couldn't stay any longer. Suppressing his anger, he bent down to pick up the wand from the ground, and viciously threw it down, saying, "You just wait until we get to school!"
He turned and fled the carriage in a sorry state, his disheveled figure seemingly telling of his inner resentment and humiliation.
"Oh! That's amazing, Kane! You've already defeated the Gryffindor prefect before even starting school! See, Crabbe, Goyle, that's my brother Kane Malfoy!"
Draco was so excited that he danced around, a proud smile spreading across his face, eager to show off Kane's heroic deeds to his two henchmen.
Ron and Harry stood aside, still immersed in the astonishing scene they had just witnessed, unable to come to their senses for a long time.
They never expected that this boy, who looked to be about their age, would possess such powerful magic and defeat the prefect so easily.
Ron, in particular, was well aware of the gap between himself and Percy. At home, Percy was often praised by his mother for his outstanding magical abilities, and in Ron's mind, Percy was almost an invincible figure.
However, today, Kane, a newcomer, completely overturned his understanding, which made him both awe and fearful of Kane.
But the observant Hermione noticed a few keywords: not enrolled!
"Kane! Didn't you say you were a second-year student? How come Draco says you haven't even started school yet!"
Hermione, however, astutely picked up on the key information in Draco's words. She frowned, looked at Kane, and questioned, "Kane! Didn't you say you were a second-year student? How come Draco says you haven't even started school yet?"
Hermione's eyes were filled with anger and disappointment. She felt deceived, after all, she trusted Kane so much, but she never expected that he had been lying from the very beginning.
"This...I..." Kane was caught off guard by Hermione's sudden question and stammered, unsure of how to answer.
He inwardly groaned, regretting that he shouldn't have made up that lie to tease Hermione. Now, she had exposed him on the spot, and he had truly shot himself in the foot.
Draco then realized he had said the wrong thing and inwardly cried out in alarm.
He knew that once he returned to school, Kane would definitely not let him off easily. Thinking of this, his original excitement vanished instantly, replaced by worry and unease.
"You're not going to kill my Leif, are you?"
In the midst of this awkward atmosphere, Neville, who had been ignored by everyone, cautiously interjected.
His gaze was fixed on Draco, his eyes filled with worry and fear; clearly, he was still worried that his toad would be used to make a potion.
"Don't worry, we won't touch your Leifu. Take it and leave quickly, and don't lose it again."
Kane glanced gratefully at Neville, secretly relieved that his words had just eased his predicament.
"Okay, thank you, you're such a kind person, Kane! Rafer and I will definitely thank you properly!"
Neville smiled with relief, carefully picked up the toad, and turned to leave the carriage.
"And you two? The matter is resolved, are there any other questions?"
Kane looked at Ron and Harry, who were still standing there, and asked in a calm tone.
No, that's all.
Ron swallowed nervously, glancing furtively at Kane with fear in his eyes.
He wasn't sure what the boy who had just beaten his brother into a rout would do to them next, and all he could think about was getting out of this troublesome place as quickly as possible.
"I'm sorry, Kane, Ron didn't mean to say that!"
Seeing this, Harry quickly apologized on Ron's behalf.
He knew that the conflict had been caused by Ron's lie, and he didn't want things to escalate further, so he stepped in to ease the tension.
