Hogwarts' Golden Glory

Chapter 104 The Practical Shortcomings of the Theoretical School

Draco rolled up the cuffs of his dragon-skin gloves, his platinum hair gleaming softly in the sunlight.

He knelt on one knee, looking Norbert in the eye, and spoke in a gentle tone he had never used before: "Norbert, look here—"

He shook the fireproof collar 3.0 in his hand, which was inlaid with emeralds, and the collar immediately emitted a pleasant bell sound.

Norbert's vertical pupils widened slightly, and he moved closer, his nostrils flaring.

"Good boy," Draco said cautiously, reaching out his hand, "let's put on a pretty one..."

"Awooo!" Norbert suddenly tossed his head, and the sparks he spewed out curled three strands of Draco's bangs.

Draco stood frozen in place, smelling the burnt smell of his hair, a flicker of panic in his grey-blue eyes.

Harry's shoulders trembled as he tried to suppress his laughter, while Kane elegantly covered his nose—the smell of burnt dragon's breath hairspray was truly pungent.

"Cough cough...maybe it's because of the wrong posture."

Draco, trying to remain calm, pulled a book titled "The Behavior of Young Dragons" from the bottom of a box, quickly flipping to the folded page. "It says we should establish dominance..."

He suddenly straightened his back and struck his collar with his wand, producing a majestic, crisp sound: "Norber! Obey immediately!"

The shout startled the young dragon—then it pounced joyfully, knocking Draco flat on his back.

The collar was flung five feet away, and Norber excitedly chased after his new "toy," rolling around on the ground.

"Merlin! Don't bite that rune!" Draco scrambled to his feet, his robes covered in bits of grass. "That's precision alchemy—watch out!"

Norbert suddenly unleashed a burst of flames at the rolling collar; the intense heat would definitely damage it.

Draco lunged forward without thinking to help, but was struck on the calf by the dragon's tail and slid to the side—

At the critical moment, Kane's Freeze Spell hit the collar precisely.

Harry lunged forward, trying to pull Draco up.

The two of them fell flat on their faces, watching helplessly as Norman triumphantly kicked the collar into the pumpkin patch.

"I...I've researched twenty-seven dragon taming schemes..." Draco collapsed to the ground, panting heavily.

His permed bangs stuck out comically. "Why didn't any of them mention that the baby dragon plays shuttlecock?!"

Hagrid, moved to tears, exclaimed, "It's never been so lively! Draco, you're a genius dragon tamer!"

Hagrid was completely oblivious to the disheveled state of the others.

Kane looked at the mess before him—Harry and Draco sat on the ground in a disheveled state, their robes covered in grass clippings;

Norber was happily kicking his fireproof collar like a ball;

Hagrid frantically tried to stop them, but the sparks from the little dragon's breath ignited the tip of his beard.

He sighed softly.

"It seems we need to try a different approach."

Kane rolled up his sleeves and put on his dragon-skin gloves.

He strode toward Norbert, his boots making a crisp sound as they crunched on the grass.

Norber raised his neck scales alertly, and the collar rolled off his claws.

Kane didn't use the gentle persuasion that Draco did.

Instead, it reached out and grabbed the baby dragon by the scruff of its neck—just like a mother dragon grabbing her cub.

Just as Norber was about to struggle, Kane's other hand had already precisely gripped his jaw.

Open your mouth.

His voice was calm and devoid of any emotion, yet it inexplicably reminded one of Professor Snape's tone when he asked to see the potion.

Norber reflexively opened his mouth, revealing his fine baby teeth.

Kane took the opportunity to slip the collar on, his fingers quickly adjusting it between the dragon scales and the metal.

His actions were far from gentle; in fact, they could be described as somewhat rough!

Yet it was exceptionally efficient—every touch was perfectly timed, neither harming the young dragon nor giving it a chance to resist.

"Kane! Be gentle!"

Hagrid rubbed the edge of his apron with a pained expression.

"Relax," Kane said in a deep, steady voice. "I know you understand."

Surprisingly, Norber actually stopped struggling.

With a soft "click," the collar fit perfectly around Norber's neck.

As the blue light flowed, the young dragon shook its head uncomfortably, but miraculously stopped its restlessness.

Kane released his grip and took a step back.

Norber blinked hesitantly, then suddenly realized that the glandular throbbing pain that had been bothering him for days had eased considerably.

Curious, it pawed at the collar and spat out a small fireball—this time the flame formed a neat ring, unlike the previous out-of-control spray.

"Merlin..." Draco stared blankly at the scene, still clutching the book "Young Dragon Behavior" in his hand.

Hagrid cautiously approached: "It...it doesn't hurt, does it?"

Kane flicked the ambergris off his hands: "It's safe now."

He glanced at Draco, "It saves some theorist from being treated like a human toy again."

"Nober! My little darling! Let me take a good look at you!"

Hagrid was still a little worried, so he ran over to check the baby dragon's neck.

They breathed a slight sigh of relief after discovering there wasn't even a red mark left.

Draco stood there awkwardly, still clutching the book "The Behavior of Young Dragons": "Actually... we should have built a relationship of trust first..."

Kane flicked his sleeve, which was damp with ambergris: "Wait until it burns down half the Forbidden Forest, then you can slowly build trust."

He turned to Norber, who was curled up in a ball, and squinted. "If you keep taking pictures like this, I'll put you back in the egg."

The young dragon was so startled that it hiccuped, spitting out a small spark that ignited the remaining half of Hagrid's beard.

Harry suddenly realized that although Norbert was afraid of Kane, he never dared to bite the collar around his neck—as if he instinctively knew that it would be good for him.

At this moment, the collar was firmly fastened around the other person's neck.

Norber gradually calmed down and curiously poked at the shimmering runes on it with his paws.

Hagrid smiled through his tears: "Look...it's starting to like it..."

Kane's expression gradually turned serious as he looked at the rune collar flashing around Norber's neck.

"Hagrid, this ring can only help him control the fire better."

He pointed to the rapidly growing wing membranes of the baby dragon, "In another week, it will be bigger than your cabin."

Hagrid's smile froze on his face: "But...but Norber is very well-behaved..."

Before Hagrid could finish speaking, Norbert suddenly snorted, and the runes on his collar began to flash violently.

"Nober? What's wrong, honey—"

The little dragon suddenly shook its head, and a golden-red pillar of fire shot out from its throat.

In an instant, Hagrid's underwear, which he had left hanging outside, burst into flames—the fabric printed with cartoon Niffler patterns merrily turned to ashes.

"It's nothing, just some clothes," Hagrid tried to explain.

"Adult Norwegian Spinosaurus consumed half a ton of raw meat daily."

Draco suddenly interrupted, brushing the grass clippings off his robes and standing up, "And Article 13 of the Ministry of Magic's 'Regulations Governing Restricted Magical Creatures' clearly stipulates..."

Harry frowned in confusion: "What rule?"

Draco sighed and continued:

"At the Wizarding Council of 1709, a law was formally passed banning the keeping of dragons."

"But doesn't the Malfoys also have a dragon farm?" Harry couldn't help but ask.

Draco's ears turned slightly red: "Our family has twelve international dragon taming licenses, seven Ministry of Magic-approved breeding farms, and..." He glanced at Kane, trying to recall the details, "and the certifications of every dragon tamer."
