Oh no! His rural wife is sweeter than a peach!

Chapter 76 Attending the Birthday Banquet

Song Minghua's 80th birthday celebration was held in a rather low-key manner.

His main purpose in coming to Nancheng was to visit his granddaughter, who had just given birth after marrying into the family. Coincidentally, it also happened to be his 80th birthday, and since some friends and relatives were also there, they simply held a small celebration with three tables of food.

Aside from some close relatives and friends, the other guests were all old acquaintances from the calligraphy association.

The large banquet room was filled with many people.

The president attached great importance to this birthday banquet, and arrived early with Liu Chong and the others, presenting his own congratulatory gifts.

Amidst the pleasantries and casual conversation, they talked about Old Master Ying, who hadn't arrived yet.

"I think he probably won't dare to come."

Liu Chong said mockingly.

"He doesn't dare to embarrass himself in front of you, Grandpa Song, so he simply avoids coming."

"Liu Chong".

The president called out to him and gave him a look, signaling him not to say such unpleasant things in this setting.

After all, this was Old Master Song's birthday banquet, not a place in the association where they could talk and argue as they pleased.

"His granddaughter-in-law doesn't even know if it's true or not; I think it's just that old man talking nonsense."

Yang Kaijiang subtly criticized the underground passage.

"His eldest grandson, Ying Yuchuan, got married, but there wasn't a single mention of it in the media. I think he's just making things up to get attention."

"Hehe, let's wait until he arrives."

Song Minghua was a kind, smiling, and slightly plump old man with a rosy complexion. "I don't think Ying Jishu would be so afraid of this little thing that he wouldn't come. He might not give face to anyone else, but he would give face to me, Old Man Song."

"Let's wait a bit longer, he should be here soon."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the chairman exclaimed in delight, "Old Master Ying is here!"

Upon hearing the sound, the group on their side all looked towards the entrance of the private room.

As far as the eye could see, Mr. Ying, dressed in a casual suit, stood there in high spirits.

He glanced around and saw that they were all gathered in a corner of the private room, so he walked over with his cane.

"Grandpa Song, it's been a long time. We haven't seen each other for several years."

He greeted Song Minghua with a smile, "You're still as energetic as ever. Here, this is a small gift; please don't mind it."

He handed the exquisite paper bag he was carrying in his other hand to Song Minghua.

Song Minghua didn't care about gifts; he took the paper bag and curiously glanced behind him.

"Didn't you say you were bringing your granddaughter-in-law? Where is she?"

The president and Liu Chong kept looking behind him.

Everyone wanted to see the formidable granddaughter-in-law he had mentioned.

"Grandpa Ying, you're not lying to us, are you?"

Liu Chong finally found an opportunity to openly mock him.

"In fact, you don't have any granddaughter-in-law at all."

"Yes. We won't laugh at you if you admit it now, but we're most afraid that you'll embarrass yourself in front of the old man later."

Yang Kaijiang sarcastically echoed his sentiment.

Grandpa Ying said casually, "She's just going to the restroom, she'll be back in a bit..."

"Hey, uncles, are you looking for me?"

A girl's voice, clear and melodious like a silver bell, suddenly broke in.

The president and the others were startled, and then quickly looked up.

Behind Grandpa Ying stood a bright, pretty, and cheerful young woman. She was dressed simply, with her hair tied in a low ponytail. Her slightly thin, round face was beaming with smiles, revealing shallow dimples. Her bright, almond-shaped eyes were enough to show that she was a girl who loved to laugh.

When Song Minghua saw her, he was surprised and stunned.

Is this girl Grandpa Ying's granddaughter-in-law?

Noticing that they were all watching her, Lu Luozhi greeted them warmly with a bright smile.

"I'm sorry I'm a little late. Hello everyone, I am the granddaughter-in-law of the old man Ying you've been talking about. My name is Lu Luozhi. Also, I really am his granddaughter-in-law, not a fake one. I hope you uncles and elders will give me your guidance in the future."

As she spoke, Grandpa Ying took a sip of the lemon tea he was holding in his other hand.

"Oh, the lemon tea my granddaughter-in-law bought me is so delicious, it's so sweet! Unlike other granddaughters-in-law, who never even buy me a bottle of water, let alone lemon tea."

It was immediately clear who he was being sarcastic towards, as the others suppressed their laughter and their gazes fell on Liu Chong.

Liu Chong's face darkened; he couldn't stand being mocked like that.

Pooh.

It's just lemon tea, what's so special about it? He doesn't even care.

"Oh, so this is the granddaughter-in-law you were talking about."

He glanced at Lu Luozhi with disdain. "Where did she come from? She doesn't look like a rich girl at all. She looks more like a waitress in a low-class restaurant."

"Mr. Ying, you come from a wealthy and influential family, you wouldn't actually have found someone like this, would you?"

He chuckled. "In my opinion, these hands are better suited for picking up kitchen scraps than for writing calligraphy."

"Brother Liu, don't go too far with your words."

Grandpa Ying spoke in a deep voice, "Don't you think about what your granddaughter-in-law does? No matter what Luozhi's background is, it's much more prestigious than your granddaughter-in-law's. She's a university graduate. Is your granddaughter-in-law?"

"Oh, unfortunately, I heard that she only went up to junior high school."

Upon hearing their back-and-forth conversation, Lu Luozhi instantly understood that the sharp-tongued, somewhat balding old man in front of her was Master Ying's mortal enemy.

No wonder they're mortal enemies; they talk in such a sarcastic way.

"you!"

So angry he could barely catch his breath, Liu Chong pointed at the deer vine, his anger barely contained.

"Alright, since you've described your granddaughter-in-law as so amazing, let her show everyone what she's really capable of, and let everyone see if she's really that good!"

He called out to Yang Kaijiang, "Prepare a writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone for her."

Then he called out to the president and other members, "President, and all of you, look! Grandpa Ying's granddaughter-in-law is going to perform for you. Make sure you open your eyes wide and watch carefully."

He gestured to Lu Luozhi, "Miss Lu, please."

Wow, this old man has quite a bit of resentment.

Lu Luozhi and Old Master Ying exchanged a glance.

Grandpa Ying gestured to her with his chin, indicating that she should come over.

At the same time, he told her not to worry, assuring her that he would take care of her.

Lu Luozhi smiled.

"Alright, alright, for the sake of my old man's reputation, I have to give you some face."

Isn't that exactly why she came here?

But she now realizes that the arguments between old men are just as intense as those between young people.

The group moved to the long wooden table that had been prepared beforehand.

The prepared writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone were placed on top.

The ink in the inkstone had already been ground, seemingly just waiting for her.

Song Minghua, who had taken advantage of the chaos to hide to one side, mingled in the crowd, watching the farce unfold with great interest, as well as Lu Luozhi.

I hope this girl won't embarrass him.
