Fu Ciyan's pace was neither hurried nor slow, yet it exuded a sense of undeniable pressure.

The leather shoes made a soft, muffled sound as they stepped on the carpet, each step feeling like it was treading on Lu Yao's heart.

Lu Yao subconsciously shrank back, pressing her back tightly against the sofa back.

He walked up to her, leaned down slightly, and placed his hands on the sofa armrests on either side of her, trapping her between himself and the sofa.

His clean, refreshing scent enveloped her forcefully.

"Why did you stop watching?" Fu Ciyan's voice was very low. "Weren't you watching it with great interest just now?"

Lu Yao's breath hitched, her gaze darting away: "I...I didn't..."

"Nothing?" Fu Ciyan leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against her earlobe, sending a shiver down her spine. "Do you think those people dance better than me?"

"No, it's not..."

"Do you think I dance better than those other people?"

Lu Yao trembled from his scorching breath and almost curled up.

Her gaze fell to his open collar, and she gently nudged him: "...I didn't say anything."

Fu Ciyan chuckled softly, the laughter resonating from his chest, carrying a knowing quality.

"Really?" He suddenly raised his fingertip and gently touched her burning red earlobe. "Then why is it that when I dance, your eyes shine like stars, but now that I'm standing in front of you, you don't dare to look at me?"

His fingertips were slightly cool, yet felt burning hot to the touch.

Lu Yao looked up and was caught off guard by his unfathomable eyes.

"Yaoyao," he called her name, slowly and clearly, "what else do you want to see? You can tell me, and I promise it will be better than theirs."

After he finished speaking, he did not make any further moves, but simply maintained the posture that completely enveloped her, waiting for her response.

The air seemed to freeze, with only an invisible tension spreading and tugging at her nerves.

Lu Yao curled her fingertips slightly and gripped the sofa fabric beneath her.

Finally, as if drawn by some force, she slowly met his gaze again: "Fu Ciyan, do you know that you are like a peacock with its tail feathers spread out right now?"

Fu Ciyan's expression paused subtly for a moment, then a smile spread across his eyes, as if he was amused by the unexpected metaphor.

"A peacock?" he repeated, his voice rising at the end, tinged with amusement. "Then, Miss Lu, has this peacock successfully spread its tail feathers?"

Instead of backing away, he moved even closer, his nose almost touching hers.

Their breaths intertwined, their crisp scents mingling with her faint fragrance, creating an ambiguous and indistinguishable atmosphere.

"Or rather," he lowered his voice even further, "what you want to see is more than just a peacock displaying its plumage?"

Lu Yao's face turned bright red, and the consequence of her stubbornness was that she was dragged into his rhythm even more thoroughly.

She tried to turn her face away, but he gently pinched her chin with his hand. The force wasn't strong, but it was enough to keep her from escaping his gaze.

She felt that Fu Ciyan had gone completely mad tonight. Was he on a business trip or somewhere taking further studies?

"Fu Ciyan, can you be normal for once? If you keep acting like this, I'm starting to wonder if you've fallen in love with me!" Lu Yao tried her best to act naturally, not wanting to blush and feel too embarrassed because of Fu Ciyan's methods, lest the man look down on her.

Although, she was indeed quite confused.

Fu Ciyan paused, then looked down at Lu Yao, who was pretending to be calm as they met each other's eyes.

"Is this the result you expected?" Fu Ciyan asked in return.

Lu Yao knew this guy wouldn't answer obediently, so she raised her hand and pushed him away. Lu Yao struggled to stand up, and the moment she created distance, she felt the hot and ambiguous atmosphere dissipate.

The cool air made her feel instantly alive: "Since that's not the case, don't do these unnecessary things. We're just in a working relationship. These unnecessary things will only make me feel that General Fu has gone against his original intention and is really planning to take our fake relationship for real and fall in love with me."

Fu Ciyan was pushed away by her, and straightened up without backing away.

He leaned casually against the back of the sofa, but his gaze remained fixed on her, like a hunter scrutinizing prey trying to escape his territory.

"Unnecessary things?" He repeated the words slowly, his fingertips unconsciously twirling as if still savoring the delicate feel of her skin. "Lu Yao, does our cooperation explicitly forbid doing these 'unnecessary things'?"

Lu Yao's heart tightened, and she forced herself to maintain her composure: "Although it's not written in the terms of cooperation, General Fu should be more aware of the basic boundaries than I am. It's enough to put on an act for outsiders. There's no need to be so invested in it in private."

"A sense of boundaries?" Fu Ciyan chuckled, straightening up. "Our sense of boundaries... we're just one step away from achieving it, aren't we?"

She instantly understood what he meant, and her face flushed red.

However, Fu Ciyan continued.

"As for falling in love with you..." He paused, his gaze deep, "Is this conclusion premature, or is it the answer you subconsciously hope to get?"

"You've said so much in one breath, Fu Ciyan, what are you trying to cover up?" Lu Yao raised her chin defiantly. "Admit you're attracted to me, I won't laugh at you. If you want to change our current relationship, beg me, and maybe I'll agree."

Fu Ciyan stared at her, as if locking onto prey, and curled his lips into a smile: "Fine, then I'll beg you."

"..." Lu Yao's expression froze instantly. She never expected that Fu Ciyan could be so shameless!

She really overestimated him!

"You, how can you have no backbone at all? How could you do this!" This was completely different from what she had expected.

Fu Ciyan chuckled, stood up, took her hand, and glanced at the time: "Alright, it's getting late. We should go back and finish our mission. Or do you want to stay here?"

"Shut up! Who wants to be here? I didn't promise you anything. Even if you go back and complete the mission, you... you better behave yourself!"

As Lu Yao spoke, she pulled her clothes closer together, as if that would make her feel safe.

Fu Ciyan led her out of the private room, and whether it was a coincidence or not, they ran into their beautiful neighbor whom they had met in the elevator before, just as they stepped out of the door.

Upon seeing the two of them, the slightly drunk female neighbor suddenly widened her eyes and pointed at them, exclaiming, "Hey, you two went clubbing together!"

Before they could answer, the beautiful neighbor looked at Lu Yao again and asked, "Did you order a male model? He didn't just leave it out for you, did he?"

Fu Ciyan's face darkened: "I ordered eight for her, but she didn't want them herself!"

After saying that, Fu Ciyan pulled Lu Yao away.

The beautiful neighbor looked at him incredulously, fiddling with her fingers, and stammered, "He...he said how many, eight...eight?"
