Xie Linyu's fingers tightened slightly as he heard Fu Ciyan's soft chuckle.

He naturally sensed the sarcasm in Fu Ciyan's words.

But he couldn't say anything, otherwise he would seem pretentious and petty.

"I never expected that General Fu, who was so resistant to being matched back then, would now be able to wash his hands and cook for others."

Xie Linyu responded lightly, even with a smile on his face.

Xiao Chen froze as he ate his rice, wishing he could bury his head in the bowl and pretend he didn't exist.

Fu Ciyan seemed oblivious to the sarcasm in his words, and casually placed a piece of pork rib on Lu Yao's plate: "I was surprised too, but it's just that she really likes my cooking."

Lu Yao nodded in agreement: "I even think that after he retires, he could open a restaurant, and the business would definitely be booming."

Looking at Lu Yao's innocent appearance, Xie Linyu wondered if she was doing it on purpose.

The unspoken understanding and intimacy between the two of them made him feel like he had a fishbone stuck in his throat; no matter how delicious the food was, he felt like he couldn't eat it.

Meanwhile, Xiao Chen, who was standing next to them, was shoveling rice into his mouth while they were arguing.

There was no way around it, the food was just so delicious. He felt that his brother Xie had absolutely no chance of winning in this regard. Even if Xie Linyu went back and started taking classes, he probably wouldn't be able to reach this level. Cooking sometimes really does require a bit of talent.

After the meal, Lu Yao personally brewed a pot of tea using the teapot Xie Linyu had given her.

We then talked about the script reading session.

"Speaking of which," Lu Yao handed the first cup of tea to Xie Linyu, casually bringing up the topic, "Did you receive the news that Producer He informed me that the first round of script readings for 'Temptation of the Wife' will begin next Monday?"

When she spoke, her eyes were clear, and she spoke with the attitude of someone engaged in professional communication.

Xie Linyu took the teacup and nodded, saying, "I received it too. I'll be there on time next week. If the script reading goes smoothly, filming should start soon. You'll be quite busy then. Does General Fu have any objections?"

Fu Ciyan finished tidying up the kitchen and came out just in time to hear these words: "I will cooperate with Yaoyao's work. If she needs to stay at the film set, I will go there too, after all, we have tasks to complete every day."

"What mission?" Xie Linyu asked subconsciously, then realized what he was doing and his expression froze, clearly having figured it out.

Fu Ciyan wouldn't waste such a good opportunity, and said gently, "It's just a matchmaking task. It's normal that you haven't participated in matchmaking before."

Lu Yao was surprised that the two of them would bring up this matter as if no one else was around, and she pretended to drink tea with some embarrassment.

Xiao Chen didn't dare to look at Xie Ge's expression.

There was really nothing he could do to help. After all, Brother Xie had willingly offered himself up for the kill. He could only silently light a candle in his heart.

Xie Linyu's knuckles, which were holding the teacup, turned slightly white because of Fu Ciyan's words. He knew very well that he had been tricked.

Fu Ciyan deliberately brought up this topic, specifically mentioning his close relationship with Lu Yao, and he still fell for it.

Lu Yao sensed the subtle change in the atmosphere, awkwardly put down her cup, and gave Fu Ciyan a reproachful look.

That gaze wasn't particularly powerful; it seemed to carry a hint of helplessness and embarrassment as it swept over, yet it stirred something within Fu Ciyan's heart.

He knew he had been a bit childish, even deliberately provocative, but seeing Lu Yao's reaction, his wicked sense of triumph was mixed with a hint of inexplicable pleasure.

At least, her attention was completely back on him.

Xie Linyu took in the exchange of glances between the two, and the pent-up anger in his chest almost burst out of his throat.

He slammed the teacup back onto the coffee table with a soft, crisp sound.

"General Fu and Miss Lu have a really good relationship." He tugged at the corners of his mouth, his smile somewhat cold. "It's certainly an eye-opener for me, an 'outsider.' It's getting late, so I won't bother you any longer."

He deliberately emphasized the words "outsider," and then stood up. In the process, he pulled his arm, frowned, and reached out to press his shoulder.

Seeing this, Lu Yao quickly asked, "Does your arm still hurt?"

Xie Linyu's fingers, which were pressing on his shoulder, paused slightly. He lowered his eyes, looking somewhat restrained: "Don't worry, it was just a slight tug from the movement, it's nothing serious."

Xiao Chen watched as Xie Ge's acting skills suddenly became "weak," and silently looked away.

Fu Ciyan took in everything, his eyes growing deeper.

He stepped forward, subtly blocking Lu Yao's gaze from Xie Linyu: "If Actor Xie is not feeling well, I'll contact a doctor for you. After all, you were injured while helping Yao Yao, and we have an obligation to help you heal."

Lu Yao thought Fu Ciyan's suggestion was fine and nodded, "Yes, why don't we go to the hospital for another check-up?"

The concern in her eyes was still genuine, but it wasn't what Xie Linyu wanted.

"No need to trouble General Fu." Xie Linyu's attitude was somewhat cold. "My medical team has been following up. It's just a minor issue. We'll take care of it when we get back. Don't worry about it. Thank you for your hospitality today. Lu Yao, see you on set."

After saying that, he nodded to the two of them, then turned and walked straight to the door.

"Xiao Chen, let's go."

"Ah? Oh, you're here!" Xiao Chen quickly followed, flashing a sweet smile as he passed Lu Yao, mouthing rapidly, "Goodbye Miss Lu, goodbye Brother Fu!"

After everyone left, Lu Yao belatedly looked at Fu Ciyan and asked, "Do you think Xie Linyu is a little unhappy, or feels that we didn't entertain him well?"

Fu Ciyan glanced back at him and saw that she was genuinely thinking about the problem and hadn't yet discovered its source.

He genuinely felt some sympathy for Xie Linyu.

"Is he feeling unwell? Anyway, he should have received our good intentions. Don't overthink it."

Lu Yao wasn't one to easily get caught up in internal conflicts. She felt that Fu Ciyan was right; they had expressed their feelings, and they couldn't control what Xie Linyu thought.

"Thank you so much for your hard work today, taking so long to help me."

She looked at Fu Ciyan, her tone sincere. Lu Yao had seen how busy Fu Ciyan had been all morning and knew that if it weren't for her, he wouldn't have needed to do so much.

Fu Ciyan looked at the reflection of himself in her eyes, and the irritation he felt because of Xie Linyu was somewhat soothed.

"It's my duty." He said succinctly, but his tone softened. "If the production crew needs your cooperation, don't worry about me. I'll do whatever it takes."

Unexpectedly, he reiterated his stance, and Lu Yao was somewhat pleased by his recognition of her work.

"I understand. If I really need to stay there, I'll take you with me." After all, the two of them are truly inseparable now.
