Seemingly surprised that Lu Qinghe would say such a thing, An Ning's eyes widened in astonishment, and her hand holding the juice suddenly tightened.

Remarriage?

These two words were simply a pipe dream for her; she wouldn't even dare to imagine them.

"Didn't you go back to Jinghai this time to try and win him back?"

Lu Qinghe gently swirled her wine glass, her smile bright. "After all, you were the one who initiated the divorce, and you were the one who dumped him. My younger brother has never experienced such a setback in relationships before, so if you want to rekindle your old flame, you have to take the initiative and at least give him a way out."

Anning listened to her words, her mind buzzing, and her heart filled with bitterness.

Perhaps in Qinghe's eyes, she left Lu Xiyan on a whim, so now she regrets it and wants to get back together with him.

But that's not the case...

The end and the beginning of this relationship were no longer up to her.

"Qinghe, you've misunderstood." Anning lowered her eyes gently, her voice soft. "I went back to Jinghai for my mother, and I went to Ou Teng only for work, not for him."

"Peace." Lu Qinghe's bright face remained smiling. "You can fool him with what you said, but you can't fool me, and don't fool yourself either."

An Ning's breath hitched, and she suddenly looked at her.

"Do you know why I like you?" Lu Qinghe smiled, "Because when I first saw you, I felt that you were clean and pure, like a piece of clear glass without any impurities, and I could see your true nature at a glance."

"I grew up in an environment where people would devour me without spitting out the bones. I've seen far too many different kinds of people, all of them two-faced and difficult to deal with."

Lu Qinghe leaned back in her chair, her beautiful eyes crinkling with laughter. "Lu Xiyan grew up in the same environment as me, so I'm not surprised at all that he fell in love with you. He sees many qualities in you that wealthy heiresses don't have. To be more precise, your mutual attraction was destined."

"Similarly, I've seen countless people, and I'm even less likely to misjudge someone." Her eyes met An Ning's trembling gaze. "I don't believe a single word of those bullshit rumors circulating about you leaving Lu Xiyan."

"I don't believe you're capable of doing this, nor do I believe you're that kind of person. But regardless, it's your decision, and I have no right to interfere too much."

Lu Qinghe smiled gently, "We're both women, your eyes can't fool me. You clearly still love Lu Xiyan, so why don't you dare admit it?"

An Ning's heart clenched suddenly, as if it were being gripped tightly, making it impossible to breathe.

Perhaps it was because someone had seen through her thoughts, or perhaps it was because the love and grievances she couldn't express were suddenly seen and understood, that she choked up, her eyes welled up with tears, and her vision quickly blurred.

"I'm sorry to him..." An Ning choked up, and tears suddenly streamed down her face.

"Then why did you suddenly get a divorce in the first place?" Lu Qinghe asked, frowning. "An Ning, what were your reasons? Why didn't you tell him?"

"Is someone in our Lu family forcing you? Or do you feel that the difference in your family background is too great, putting too much pressure on you?"

Tears dripped onto the table. Anning raised her hand to wipe away the tears on her face. "Qinghe, thank you for telling me all this. I really couldn't hide it from you. It's not that I still love him, it's that I've always loved him, loved him so much..."

She looked up at Lu Qinghe, her eyes blurry with tears, "But there are too many obstacles between us, and it's long past that 'love' alone can solve everything."

She smirked, knowing that even if she told Lu Xiyan she loved him now, he would only laugh at her and wouldn't believe a word she said.

"I've long ago..." An Ning felt a pang in her chest and choked back tears, "I'm not worthy of his love."

"I really don't know what happened between you two, but I'm telling you this today only out of a sister's heartache for her brother." Lu Qinghe downed the wine in her glass in one gulp. "Whether you decide to never see each other again or decide to salvage that regrettable relationship, it's up to you."

"All I want to say is that he was always sincere towards you. He's a very sensible person, and no other woman has ever appeared in his life besides you," Lu Qinghe said. "He's had a tough few years, so if you still love him, you shouldn't let him down."

......

"Mr. Lu, this document needs your review."

In the president's office, Jiang Yao handed over the documents.

The man, dressed in a black suit, exuded an air of refined elegance. He took the document, glanced at it briefly, and then signed it with his pen.

Outside the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, the setting sun had completely disappeared into the horizon.

Lu Xiyan glanced out the window, "Jiang Yao."

Jiang Yao had just closed the document and was about to leave when he heard the voice and immediately replied, "Mr. Lu, is there anything else you need?"

Lu Xiyan looked away. "It's nothing."

It's almost dark; she shouldn't be so stupid as to still be waiting downstairs.

"Yes, Mr. Lu."

Jiang Yao was about to leave when his cell phone rang in his pocket.

It's an internal company phone number.

He answered the phone quickly, and the next second he asked, "How are you? Are you alright?"

Lu Xiyan suddenly glanced at him and saw him hang up the phone to report, "Mr. Lu, the receptionist just said that a woman had a hypoglycemic attack while waiting for someone in the lobby and fainted. Now... hey! Mr. Lu, where are you going?"

Before Jiang Yao could finish speaking, he saw the man in front of him change his expression and stride out of the office. He quickly followed, "President Lu, wait for me!"

......

Lu Xiyan rushed to the elevator almost without thinking, quickly pressed the button for the first floor, his chest heaving violently.

Low blood sugar caused her to faint?

His hands, hanging by his sides, tightened suddenly, his knuckles turning almost white from the force. Lu Xiyan's thin lips were pressed together, his eyes deep and unfathomable.

The elevator stopped on the first floor, and as soon as the doors opened, he strode out.

As soon as I entered the lobby, I heard the sound of an ambulance at the entrance, which then faded into the distance.

Lu Xiyan only saw the ambulance drive away. His back stiffened suddenly, his eyes trembled, and he quickly walked to the front desk.

The receptionist was dealing with the recent incident when she saw the man walking straight towards her and exclaimed in fright, "Mr. Lu—"

"Did someone just faint from low blood sugar?"

Before the person in charge could finish speaking, Lu Xiyan quickly asked, "What does he look like? How old does he look? Do you know his name? Is his surname An?"

He asked a lot of questions in one breath with a cold face, which frightened the person in charge into thinking that he had come to interrogate him. He was also wondering why this matter had alarmed President Lu.

Meeting the man's piercing gaze, the person in charge stammered, "Mr. Lu! A woman just fainted here due to low blood sugar. She's pregnant, looks to be in her twenties, and I heard she's a family member of a sales employee. She came to deliver something but suddenly had a low blood sugar attack—"

Before the person in charge could finish speaking, the man seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, his furrowed brows relaxed, and his cold expression softened considerably.

Jiang Yao caught up shortly after, noticed the man's expression, and immediately realized what was happening. He quickly asked the person in charge, "Is there a Miss An in the lobby? Where is she?"

"Yes, Assistant Jiang," the receptionist replied quickly. "But Miss An left long ago."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yao suddenly felt a chilling gaze fixed on him.

He turned his head stiffly, only to meet Lu Xiyan's cool gaze.

"Too talkative."
