Haikyuu!!: The Disaster of Gamers

Chapter 304: Game complete, life goes on.

In the dressing room of a top-tier hotel in Tokyo, a tie was pulled crookedly.

Kotaro Bokuto rolled up the sleeves of his bespoke suit, revealing his muscular forearms, and practiced his spiking motion in front of the mirror. The luxurious fabric creaked dangerously with each movement.

"This outfit is too tight! I can't jump at all!" Wood Rabbit shouted.

Tetsuro Kuroo leaned against the doorframe, a glass of champagne in his hand, and bluntly criticized, "You don't even have to play today. Behave yourself and don't tear the sponsor's clothes. Wearing haute couture on a volleyball player's frame is a test of the fabric's tension to the limit."

Oikawa Tetsu occupied the largest vanity mirror, meticulously styling every strand of his hair with hairspray. He turned to look at Lu Ren, who was sitting on the sofa in the corner: "Little Lu Ren, your groomsmen lineup is good enough to attend an international supermodel competition. With someone like me, the face of the show, you should be secretly happy."

Lu Ren ignored him. He looked down at the wedding schedule on his phone, his finger swiping across the screen. This group had been gathering since six in the morning, turning the entire top floor of the hotel into a chaotic mess, like a locker room during the Spring High School finals.

The sound of Hyuga Shoyo and Kageyama Tobio arguing could be heard outside the door.

"Idiot! Your bow tie is crooked!"

"Mind your own business! You stepped on my shoes!"

Lu Ren rubbed his temples and stood up. He walked to the door and flung it open. The two people who were still pushing and shoving stopped and looked over at him.

"If you keep making noise, I'll tie you both to the pillars downstairs and use you as welcoming mascots." Lu Ren's tone was calm and even.

There was a two-second silence in the corridor. Sawamura Daichi walked over from around the corner, pressed Hinata and Kageyama's heads down, and forced them to bow in apology. Sugawara Koji, standing nearby, chuckled and tried to smooth things over: "On such a joyous occasion, everyone should be a little more reserved."

The convoy stopped outside Ya-zhi's villa. The bridesmaids were led by Kiyoko Shimizu, with Hitoka Yachi peeking out from behind.

The door-blocking game is like answering a question.

Oikawa Tetsu stared at the calculus exam paper slipped through the crack in the door and fell silent.

"This is beyond the scope of the curriculum," Kuroo retorted, finding fault.

Standing at the back of the crowd, Ushijima Wakatoshi earnestly suggested, "It would be faster to break down the door."

Iwaizumi flicked Oikawa on the forehead with his hand, and glared at Ushijima: "Don't give me any bad advice. This is a wedding procession, not a demolition."

Lu Ren folded the exam paper and stuffed it into his pocket. He then pulled out a thick stack of red envelopes from inside his suit jacket and slipped them through the crack in the door.

Cheers erupted from inside. The door clicked open.

Money power is always more useful than calculus.

Yazhi, dressed in white gauze, sat on the edge of the bed, holding a round fan in her hand. She watched Lu Ren walk in, her eyes unable to hide her smile.

Lu Ren knelt down on one knee and handed over the bouquet.

"Is this flower heavy?" Lu Ren asked.

"Not bad. How much money did you slip in? I heard Renhua scream." Yazhi lowered her voice.

"Enough to buy all the protective gear for their entire volleyball team." Lu Ren picked her up from the bed.

The main venue was a top-tier banquet hall in Tokyo Bay. Lu Jianguo, dressed in a Tang suit, was radiant as he socialized with his business associates. Lu Xin stood beside him, holding Yazhi's hand and giving her endless instructions.

The ceremony proceeded smoothly. The music changed, the doors opened, and Ya-Chih walked down the red carpet, lifting her dress. The two exchanged rings, completing all the formalities.

It was time for the bouquet toss. The emcee, microphone in hand, enthusiastically called for the single groomsmen and bridesmaids to come forward.

Hinata Shoyo was the first to rush to the front of the table, bending his knees and getting into a ready-to-catch stance. Kageyama Tobio squeezed next to him, not to be outdone. Hoshino Kōrai cut in from the other side, occupying an excellent jumping position.

With her back to the crowd, Ya-Chih held the bouquet in both hands and threw it forcefully backward.

The bouquet traced a high parabola in the air.

"Mine!" Hinata shouted, jumping up on the spot.

"Get out of the way!" Kageyama shouted as he took to the air.

The two collided mid-air, neither of them touching the flowers. The bouquet passed over their heads and landed squarely on the row behind them.

Kozume Kenma was playing Switch with his head down when he heard the sound of wind above him. He instinctively reached out and grabbed it.

A beautifully wrapped bouquet of roses landed gently in his arms.

The entire audience burst into laughter. Grinding, holding the flowers, watched as his game character on the screen was killed by a monster, displaying "GAME OVER." He looked up, his face clearly saying, "Please spare me."

The dinner began. A volleyball player's alcohol tolerance is directly proportional to their physical fitness.

Gong You walked over with a wine dispenser, pulled out the chair next to Lu Ren, and sat down: "Boss Lu, you can't avoid this round today, can you?"

Lu Ren picked up the cup; it contained a clear liquid.

Oikawa Tetsu leaned over and sniffed it, immediately exposing the deception: "Plain water? Your forgery technique is too perfunctory."

"I still need to settle accounts, I can't get drunk." Lu Ren said without changing his expression.

"What's the point of settling accounts! Boss Lu is paying for everything today!" Mu Tu shouted, raising his wine glass.

Coach Ukai and Teacher Takeda sat at the next table, watching their now-grown students make a ruckus. Ukai raised his glass and clinked it against Takeda's.

"Time flies," Takeda remarked.

Lu Ren was forced to drink three glasses of red wine. The alcohol fermented in his stomach, and his head began to spin. He leaned back in his chair, his gaze sweeping over the group of people.

Hinata and Kageyama were still blaming each other for failing to catch the bouquet. Kuroo and Tsukishima Hotaru were discussing some unconventional tactics, with Tsukishima listening despite her disdain. Ushijima Wakatoshi quietly ate the high-grade Wagyu beef on the table, while Tendo Satoru told him jokes.

These people, whom he once defined as NPCs, are now sitting at his wedding banquet, noisy and vibrant.

He picked up his glass and stood up.

The whole table fell silent.

Lu Ren didn't say anything, but simply drank the wine in his glass in one gulp.

"Cheers," he said.

"Cheers!" The unified shout made the crystal chandelier on the ceiling tremble.

The splendor has faded.

In the penthouse suite, the air was so quiet that you could hear the faint hum of the central air conditioning.

Ya-zhi sat at the dressing table, removing her hair clips one by one. Lu Ren loosened his tie, tossed his suit jacket onto the sofa, and went to the bar to pour two glasses of warm water.

He handed the water to Ya-Chi and leaned against the edge of the dressing table.

"I'm exhausted." Ya-zhi rubbed her sore neck, took the water glass and took a sip.

Lu Ren reached out and massaged her shoulders. The pressure was just right, pressing on her tense muscles.

"That guy Oikawa threw up in the end, and Iwaizumi carried him back," Lu Ren casually mentioned.

"Hinata and Kageyama were still racing to see who could get to the subway station first when they left, those two idiots," Yazhi laughed.

After removing her makeup, Yazhi stood up and sat down on the sofa. Lu Ren walked over and sat down next to her.

Yazhi leaned against Lu Ren's shoulder. The scent of shower gel mingled with a lingering smell of alcohol.

Outside the window is the Tokyo night view, neon lights forming a sea of light, and cars leaving long red taillights on the overpasses.

"Lu Ren," Ya Zhi whispered his name.

"Um."

What are your plans for tomorrow?

"sleep."

"I meant later." Ya Zhi shifted to a more comfortable position, her fingers fiddling with the buttons on Lu Ren's shirt. "Isn't the merger and acquisition deal with the Lu Group supposed to be finalized next week? And there's the V League sponsorship for next year; you mentioned before that you wanted to set up another selection camp."

Lu Ren looked at the lights outside the window.

How many years has he been in this world? He went from being a bystander who just wanted to play volleyball like a game to a commander on the court, the benefactor of these monsters, and finally the head of the Lu Group.

The main quests keep coming one after another, and the dungeons get harder and harder as you play them.

He raised his hand and placed it on the back of Yazhi's hand.

"Leave the merger and acquisition deal to professional managers. Let Oikawa and the others handle the selection process themselves."

Lu Ren lowered his head, resting his chin on the top of Ya Zhi's head.

"I'm tired." Lu Ren closed his eyes.

Let's rest here.

The night was deep. No one spoke in the room. Only the steady breathing of two people mingled together.

Game completed.

The player has disconnected.

Life goes on.
