Chapter 63 Rectifying Military Discipline!
Qi Fan gave the orders clearly, then turned and left, leaving Xi Shun standing there bewildered in the wind.
happy Shun could easily hear the determination in Qi Fan's words; he was determined to see the entire Guard Brigade and there was no room for ambiguity.
He dared not delay. He suddenly came to his senses, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead as he ran towards the camp headquarters, shouting for help to gather the scattered members of the guard brigade.
Qi Fan quickly boarded the car waiting outside the camp, raised his hand and instructed the driver, "Go to the ten-mile plain outside Fengtian City," before looking at the others accompanying him.
These were the key personnel he had selected from among the students of the military academy, including Chu Shixin and Zhang Xuecheng.
As soon as the group settled in, the car engine roared to life and sped off toward the meeting point.
The atmosphere inside the carriage was temporarily quiet. Taking advantage of this journey, Qi Fan couldn't wait to open the system panel in his mind.
The system notified me that the reward would be issued soon, so I took advantage of this break to check it.
As soon as the system was opened, a series of reward notifications popped up:
[Congratulations, host, on completing the mission! Rewards have been issued!]
[Congratulations, host, on obtaining a Rank B Legion Card: Advanced Medical Team (100 members)!]
[Congratulations, host, you have obtained a B-level Legion Card: Elite Infantry Regiment!]
[Congratulations, host, you have obtained a Grade B Armory Card: 300 AK47s!]
[Congratulations, host, you have obtained a Grade B Armory Card: a Barrett sniper rifle!]
[Congratulations, host, you have obtained a Grade B skill card: Proficiency in Foreign Languages!]
[Congratulations, host, you have obtained a Grade B skill card: Master of Gambling!]
[Congratulations, host, you have obtained an A-level character card: Li Yuanba!]
As he stared at the lines of reward information, Qi Fan's eyes widened, and his breathing became increasingly rapid.
The rewards were already quite generous, and Qi Fan became more and more excited as he looked at them.
But when the final A-level character card popped up, Qi Fan's mouth gaped open wide enough to fit three eggs; he was completely stunned.
"What the hell is this?" Qi Fan exclaimed inwardly. "Li Yuanba? System, are you kidding me? This is the Republic of China, firearms are common now, what use is a fierce general from the Sui and Tang dynasties? He's not invincible!"
Filled with doubt and confusion, he immediately opened the attribute panel of this A-grade character card and carefully examined the details:
Grade A Character Card: Li Yuanba
Attack: S+
Strategy: C-
Equipment: Golden Hammer for Drumming (weighing 800 jin), Mount: Ten Thousand Miles of Clouds and Mist
Skill: Innate Super Strength - Can possess the strength of 100 tons for half an hour! (Can only be used once per day)
After looking at the attribute panel, Qi Fan's lips twitched, and he thought to himself.
As expected, it was Li Yuanba, who relied solely on brute force. In terms of strength, in the era of cold weapons, this guy was indeed invincible. With a force of 100 tons, he could probably lift and throw a tank, let alone hit a person.
The problem is, this is the Republic of China era, where firearms are rampant! No matter how strong you are, you can't stop bullets.
If Li Yuanba were actually sent to the battlefield and encountered an enemy with good marksmanship, he would probably be shot dead before he even got close to them.
This seemingly top-tier A-level character card seems rather useless in the current era.
The car sped along, and before long, the outline of the ten-mile plain outside Fengtian City came into view.
As the car approached, Qi Fan looked out the window and saw that a number of people were already scattered around the open space, crookedly gathered together, without any of the discipline that an army should have. It was clear that most of the personnel had not yet arrived.
Seeing this, Qi Fan did not show any sign of anxiety; instead, he appeared remarkably calm.
He got out of the car, waved to Chu Shixin and the others, and walked straight to the sunshade that had been set up in advance.
"No rush, let's have a cup of tea here first and wait for them all to arrive."
Tables and chairs were already prepared under the pergola, and attendants poured hot tea for the group. Qi Fan sipped the tea slowly, his expression calm.
But the soldiers outside the shelter were not so relaxed. Seeing the newly appointed "acting brigade commander" so calm, they were all very uneasy and terrified.
Anyone could guess that the young commander, who had just shone brightly in the exercise, suddenly summoning the entire brigade was definitely not a trivial matter.
In the crowd, Zhao Pingmin, the regimental commander, quietly tugged at Xishun beside him and whispered something.
"Xishun, you and Liu Zi... oh no, you and Commander Zhang grew up together, you know him best. Go and sound him out, see what he's really up to. Why is he gathering the whole brigade like this? What's going on?"
Xi Shun was also hesitant, but since Zhao Pingmin had already spoken, he couldn't refuse. He could only bite the bullet, rub his hands together, and quickly walk to the outside of the pavilion, respectfully calling out.
"Reporting, sir! The guard brigade is now fully assembled, and some more are on their way. Please provide further instructions!"
Qi Fan glanced at him, lightly tapping the rim of his teacup with his fingertips, and asked in a calm tone, "How many people haven't arrived yet?"
happy Shun straightened his back and answered truthfully.
"Sir, some personnel from the First Regiment and most of the Second Regiment haven't arrived yet. We've already sent people to urge them!"
"Hmm," Qi Fan responded, taking a sip of hot tea before speaking slowly.
"It's alright, no rush. Let them take their time. We'll talk once everyone has arrived."
happy Shun was taken aback, not expecting Qi Fan to be so easy to talk to. He quickly replied "Yes" and stepped aside to wait.
And so, Qi Fan and his companions leisurely enjoyed their tea under the shade of the pavilion, while the soldiers outside waited anxiously. Time ticked by, and after a full three hours, the last batch of soldiers finally arrived, sparsely lining up in the ranks.
Only when no more people joined the group did Qi Fan put down his teacup, stand up, dust off the corner of his clothes, and slowly walk towards the front of the group.
His gaze was sharp as he slowly swept over the crooked line in front of him and said in a deep voice.
"Three hours! A full three hours, and the Guard Brigade barely managed to assemble!"
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried a chilling edge.
"Aren't you the elite of the Fengtian Army? Aren't you the guard responsible for protecting the core of Fengtian? With this speed of assembly and this level of discipline, you dare to call yourselves elite?"
Upon hearing this, the soldiers below fell silent instantly, not daring to utter a sound. They all lowered their heads tremblingly, avoiding Qi Fan's gaze.
The only sound on the plain was the rustling of the wind through the grass.
"I'll ask you one more time!" Qi Fan's voice suddenly rose, filled with thunderous rage.
"All units whose personnel were not present on time, whether they are regimental commanders, battalion commanders, or company and platoon leaders, step forward!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a commotion broke out in the ranks. Then, a dense mass of people emerged from the ranks, roughly accounting for nearly half of the total number of the guard brigade!
Looking at the so-called "elite Fengtian Army" in front of him, Qi Fan felt a burning anger in his chest, and his heart was filled with endless disappointment and rage.
No wonder the small powers could so easily invade Northeast China, no wonder the three northeastern provinces could be handed over without firing a single shot!
With such rotten military discipline and such a disorganized fighting capacity, how can they possibly defend our territory? How can they possibly defeat the enemy?
He suppressed his anger, staring intently at the three regimental commanders of the guard brigade, and questioned them through gritted teeth.
"Is this the kind of soldiers you've trained? Even your supposedly elite guard brigade is this rotten; what about the rest of the Fengtian Army?!"
