Five years after my wife's death, she came back!

Chapter 33 Luckily, she can't speak.

The study fell silent instantly, and Cheng Suyun's face turned deathly pale.

She and Shang Haisheng had two sons and a daughter.

Her eldest daughter, Shang Shijin, was born when she was 24 years old and had just gotten married. She is now married to a businessman who married into the Shang family, and they have a son named Shang Yu.

For the next eight years, she and Shang Haisheng were unable to have another child.

Over the course of eight years, Cheng Suyun went to the hospital for numerous checkups and consulted gynecologists in various countries, but she was unable to conceive again.

When she was thirty-two, she finally became pregnant again, and she and Shang Haisheng were both looking forward to the child.

At that time, Mr. Shang was still alive, and Mrs. Shang was also in good health. Their second son, Shang Xu'an, was born amidst the expectations of the whole family.

After he was born, almost the entire family focused their attention on him. Grandpa Shang took him by his side from a young age and held him in his arms all day long.

Shang Chenyan's arrival was unexpected by everyone, including Cheng Suyun.

After Shang Xu'an was born, the couple's desire for children diminished, and Cheng Suyun had been using contraception, but she unexpectedly became pregnant and had no choice but to give birth.

Shang Chenyan and Shang Xu'an are only two years apart. Two months before he was born, Old Master Shang died of a cerebral hemorrhage, and Old Madam Shang suffered a stroke due to excessive grief. After being rescued, her health deteriorated significantly, and she has been living in a sanatorium ever since.

The birth of Shang Chenyan did not alleviate the sorrow that enveloped the Shang family. The sudden death of the old master Shang and the fierce infighting within the group left Shang Haisheng overwhelmed with responsibilities.

Looking at the newborn child, Cheng Suyun felt far more exhausted than joyful.

She knew that birth, aging, sickness, and death were irreversible and she wouldn't take her anger out on her children, but people's hearts always tend to become severely biased without them even realizing it.

She couldn't deny that among the three children, she liked Shang Xu'an the most and neglected Shang Chenyan the most.

Shang Chenyan was quiet and didn't talk much from a young age, while Shang Xu'an was cheerful, lively, and had a sweet tongue that made everyone in the family happy.

Ten years passed in this way. When Shang Chenyan was ten years old, he and Shang Xu'an were kidnapped by their enemies.

The kidnapping case shocked the entire Jiangcheng. Shang Haisheng used almost all his financial resources to try to rescue his two sons, and the police were very cooperative. Unfortunately, in the end, only Shang Chenyan survived.

Cheng Suyun couldn't bear the blow and fainted several times.

She would rather faint than accept the reality that Shang Xu'an was gone.

One afternoon, she came to her senses. The old house was quiet. Like a lost soul, she went to Shang Xu'an's room, hugged the things he used to use, and cried bitterly.

As she came out, she passed by Shang Chenyan's room next door.

As if possessed, Cheng Suyun went inside to take a look.

On that very day, she found a diary in Shang Chenyan's room, and the first page contained the following:

"I wish my brother would disappear."

......

"Alright, how old are you? Why can't you learn to enjoy life?" Shang Haisheng's words interrupted his reminiscence. He lazily suggested, "Why don't you go out with Mrs. Liu and Mrs. Pei when you have nothing to do? Or we can go to the beach for a vacation to escape the cold. Your son is almost thirty; he doesn't need you to revolve around him anymore."

Shang Haisheng muttered to himself for a long time without getting a reply. When he looked up, he saw Cheng Suyun wiping away tears.

He cried out in pain, quickly dropping the chessboard in his hand, and went over to put his arm around her shoulder: "Why are you crying? Did I say something wrong?"

He then pretended to slap his mouth twice: "I won't say anything more, I'll shut up."

Cheng Suyun glared at him: "He's my son, I can do whatever I want with him, okay?"

"Fine, fine, do whatever you want with him. I'll talk to him tomorrow and make him move back. I'll make sure he's properly managed by you."

Cheng Suyun shoved him away and left, muttering, "Crazy."

The villa was very quiet in the afternoon. Shang Chenyan was handling work in the study, while Shi Ying and Shang Nian were fast asleep on the princess bed.

Shang Nian woke up first. She smelled a sweet fragrance, the scent of her mother.

Before she even opened her eyes, Shang Nian had already locked onto the direction, buried her head in it, rubbed against it, and sniffed hard.

She was held in Shi Ying's arms, feeling soft and sweet, and extremely comfortable.

After lying down for a while, Shang Nian felt hungry, but Shi Ying was still not awake, so she quietly slipped out of her embrace, lifted the blanket, and ran out.

When Shang Chenyan came out of the study, he happened to see her small figure running towards the study.

"What's wrong?" The man bent down and picked her up.

Shang Nian pointed to her stomach.

Are you hungry?

Shang Nian nodded.

"Zhang Ma is making dinner downstairs. Dinner will be ready soon. If you're really hungry, you can go down and have some fruit or snacks, but don't eat too much."

Upon hearing this, Shang Nian immediately pushed him aside and ran downstairs.

Shang Chenyan smiled, glancing out of the corner of his eye at her room door, which wasn't closed properly.

Through the small gap, you can see a long bulge on the bed, and you can faintly smell the fragrance emanating from it.

Shang Chenyan's Adam's apple bobbed, and he pushed open the door as if possessed.

Shi Ying was still asleep. The room was very warm. She had taken off her sweater and was only wearing a small tank top, revealing her fair and smooth shoulders. Her cheeks and lips were pink.

The dim, golden rays of the setting sun streamed in through the window, casting a long shadow of the man standing by the bed, which just covered the girl on the bed.

Shang Chenyan bent down and sat on the edge of the bed, gently stroking her loose black hair and sniffing it with fascination.

His fingertips gently traced the girl's cheek, and he couldn't help but lower his head to place a light kiss on her face.

A fleeting kiss was far from enough to soothe the restlessness in his heart.

Shi Ying's eyelashes fluttered, as if she was about to wake up. Shang Chenyan quickly let go of her and stood up.

He gazed at her intently for a moment, then tiptoed away.

But as soon as he turned around, he saw a small figure standing by the door, clinging to the door frame with both hands, looking at the two of them curiously.

Shang Nian tilted her head, blinked, and then ran her fingers across her face twice, making a "shy" gesture.

Shang Chenyan: "..."

"Didn't you go downstairs?"

Shang Nian tried to run in, but Shang Chenyan grabbed her under his arm and led her downstairs: "Don't talk nonsense, understand?"

"If you talk nonsense, Mommy won't want you anymore."

Shang Nian opened her mouth, then glared at him sullenly.

A few minutes after the two left, Shi Ying woke up.

The lights were off inside; the sun had already set, and it was dark outside the window.

The empty room gave Shi Ying a sense of desolation, as if she had been abandoned by the whole world when she woke up.

There seemed to be a scent in the room that didn't belong there—a faint, cool woody fragrance.

Without thinking much about it, she rubbed her eyes, washed up, and then pushed open the door and went out.

Standing at the top of the stairs, Shi Ying could hear Zhang Ma and Shang Chenyan's voices below, as well as bright lights and Shang Nian running around.

Shang Chenyan seemed to be scolding her for not running around. His voice was unusually calm, even a little exasperated and helpless.

Shi Ying smiled unconsciously, as if her heart had suddenly been filled.

When Zhang Ma saw her, she quickly greeted her, "Miss Shi, come down for dinner."

When Shang Nian saw her coming downstairs, she immediately threw herself into her arms.

Shi Ying caught her and led her to sit at the dining table.

Shang Nian glanced at Shang Chenyan beside her, then at Shi Ying opposite her. Suddenly, she pointed to her left cheek, then at Shi Ying, and covered her mouth to chuckle. Her two dark, grape-like eyes curved into crescent moons.

Shi Ying didn't understand what she was laughing at.

Shang Chenyan picked up her teacup and took a sip, feeling thankful for the first time that she couldn't speak.
