Primordial Era: When a Good Guy Awakens a Morally Unethical System

"You two lowly and shameless scoundrels, how dare you stand in Zixiao Palace and listen to the Dao with us! If it weren't for you two, Zhen Yuanzi would surely have become a saint!" With each sentence, Hongyun slapped him across the air. In just a few moments, Jieyin and Zhunti's heads were swollen and red like pig heads.

Jieyin hated Hongyun to the core, yet was powerless to escape this predicament, and his heart was filled with sorrow. Suddenly, a voice arose from within him, and his eyes gradually became resolute, as if he had found his own path.

Hongyun burst out laughing. The Seven Treasures Tree suppresses destiny; how poor must Jieyin be? He dragged Zhunti, someone who could never become a saint, into founding the Western Sect, just because he didn't have anything to suppress destiny!

The accumulated merit transformed into golden lotuses that descended upon Mount Ling, instantly entering the bodies of Jieyin and Zhunti. The moment the merit entered their bodies, it merged with the primordial purple energy, causing their auras to surge rapidly, reaching the peak of Quasi-Sainthood in almost an instant.

Hongyun didn't argue with the Heavenly Dao; he simply withdrew his magical power and allowed the two of them to receive the merit.

Both Jieyin and Zhunti showed joy on their faces; they had been waiting for this day for far too long.

Jieyin stared at his body in shock: "What happened?"

Just as he was about to attain enlightenment, the strange phenomenon suddenly disappeared, and his cultivation level, which was about to break through, stopped its rapid increase and ultimately remained at the peak of Quasi-Saint.

It is only natural that Zhunti stopped at the peak of Quasi-Saint, because the merit bestowed by Heaven made him stop there. However, Zhunti still had Primordial Purple Qi in his body, but there was no sign of it helping him break through to Sainthood.

"How could this happen?" Zhunti and Jieyin were deathly pale, especially Jieyin, who almost lost his balance.

They were just a step away from the realm of sainthood, practically with one foot already in it, but ultimately failed. To only be halfway to the Dao—if word got out, wouldn't people laugh their heads off? Forget about revitalizing the West. Thinking of this, the two felt an overwhelming heaviness in their hearts.

"We two co-founded a sect, yet our merits aren't enough to support my senior brother's ascension to sainthood?" Zhunti's face was ashen.

After a moment, Jieyin suddenly seemed to understand something, and he raised his right palm:

"Heaven's will is above, I guide you in making this grand vow today!"

"If I attain unsurpassed Bodhi and become a fully enlightened being, the Buddha-land I reside in will be adorned with immeasurable and inconceivable merits and virtues. There will be no hells, hungry ghosts, birds, beasts, or even the smallest insects. All sentient beings, including those in the Yama realm and the three evil realms, who are reborn in my Buddha-land and receive my Dharma teachings, will all attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi and will never again fall into evil realms. If I attain this vow, I will become a Buddha. If I do not attain this vow, I will not attain unsurpassed Bodhi."

"When I attain Buddhahood, all sentient beings in the ten directions will be reborn in my Pure Land. They will all possess bodies of pure purple gold, with the thirty-two marks of a great man, upright and pure, and all of the same kind. If there are differences in appearance, or if there are those who are beautiful or ugly, I will not attain perfect enlightenment."

When I attain Buddhahood, from the earth's edge to the sky, all palaces, pavilions, ponds, flowing water, flowering trees, and all things in the land will be composed of immeasurable precious fragrance. This fragrance will pervade the ten directions. All beings who smell it will cultivate the Buddha's practices. If this is not so, I will not attain perfect enlightenment.

When I attain Buddhahood, all the bodhisattvas in the ten directions, upon hearing my name, will all attain purity, liberation, universal samadhi, and profound dharani, abiding in samadhi until they become Buddhas. In samadhi, they will constantly make offerings to all Buddhas without losing their concentration. If this is not so, I will not attain perfect enlightenment.

When I attain Buddhahood, if bodhisattvas in other worlds hear my name, cultivate the bodhisattva path, and possess virtuous roots, and at that time do not attain even one, two, or three kinds of forbearance, and cannot directly realize the non-retrogression of all Buddha's teachings, then I will not attain perfect enlightenment.
