My mom is waiting for treatment, and you're summoning me to be a hero?

Chapter 379 Pure Land, the First Deity in the Crack

Hearing Lin Mo's words, the man stood there stunned.

He moved his lips for a long time before finally managing to force out a smile that looked even uglier than a grimace.

"Don't joke around, this..."

Before he could finish speaking, an invisible force slammed him hard to the ground.

His face was pressed into the mud, and his nose hit a piece of gravel, causing him to groan in pain.

He struggled to turn his eyes and, out of the corner of his eye, saw that what was pressing down on him was a semi-transparent soul.

He wore a tattered golden royal robe, his triple crown floated askew on his head, and the wound on his severed neck still faintly glowed with a ghostly blue light.

"Your Majesty... Your Majesty?!"

Sam's voice cracked with a sharp edge.

Saint Zefa's empty eyes regained a sliver of consciousness.

He looked down at the person he was pressing down and paused for a moment.

"Semu? Weren't you sent to the Pure Land by the gods? How come..."

As he spoke, he seemed to remember something, and his voice abruptly stopped.

His fingers unconsciously tightened a little, then he slowly raised his head to look at Lin Mo standing behind Semu.

The moment their eyes met, Saint Zefa swallowed hard, not daring to ask anything.

Samuel then spoke.

"This guy just said he killed the Pope and destroyed the Holy Kingdom of the Tower... Your Majesty, what's going on here? Say something!"

He struggled to lift his head, but was pressed down even harder by Saint Zefa's soul, his cheeks crushed into the mud, and a trickle of blood smeared from the corner of his mouth.

Saint Zefa nodded with difficulty.

His soul was trembling slightly, whether from anger or fear, his voice hoarse and dry.

"What he said is true. He is the thirty-fourth Demon King after Yin Xue, and he also exposed the church's killing of infants. The current church believers... are all dead."

Samu's eyes widened, his pupils trembling wildly on the ground, and he muttered "Impossible."

But Saint Zefa's expression had already told him everything.

His body began to tremble violently, his fingers dug into the soil, and his fingernails were filled with pebbles.

A boot stepped on his head, grinding his cheek deeper into the mud.

Lin Mo's voice came from above, cold and calm, as if stating a fact that did not require a reply.

"I don't want to hear another word of nonsense from you. How do you learn the laws of this world, and how do you leave this place?"

Samu swallowed a mouthful of dirt, choking and coughing several times, but the fear of death forced him to desperately squeeze out answers between coughs.

"The power of the laws of this world resides within those imprisoned gods... By releasing them, we can obtain their laws!"

He was panting heavily, his cheek distorted by the sole of Lin Mo's boot, his voice muffled but urgent.

"These floating islands are the prisons that hold those gods. Each large floating island contains a god. I know where the god on this island is imprisoned. I've lived here for several years. I can take you to see him. It's not far, really not far!"

Lin Mo narrowed his eyes and slowly raised his boot: "Lead the way."

Sam quickly got up from the ground, not bothering to brush off the mud and bloodstains on his face, and bowed in a gesture of invitation.

"Yes, yes, sir, please follow me."

With that, he turned and walked up the mountain.

His steps were unsteady and hurried, and he almost tripped over the pebbles on the ground several times, but he dared not slow down at all, as if he was afraid that if he slowed down even a step, the black sword behind him would fall down.

Lin Mo followed behind him, his gaze sweeping over his thin, almost frail frame.

Then his gaze swept over the dulled axe hanging at his waist.

This man was panting heavily after chopping down just a few corpses; his physical condition was even worse than that of an ordinary soldier on the mainland.

He couldn't help but wonder how someone with Samu's strength could survive here.

"How did you manage to survive here, being so weak? As far as I know, the creatures in this world are all quite powerful."

Lin Mo asked directly.

This question isn't just directed at Samu.

The villagers he casually killed in the village were all ordinary people, without even a level.

The monsters they encountered on their journey were all quite powerful, just as the Dark Elf leader had said; they were generally above level 90, and occasionally there were even demigod-level beasts.

Even a single one of these creatures could raze the village to the ground.

Sam quickly explained, his tone revealing an undisguised sense of relief.

"Before we came here, the divine being gave me a holy light aura. Those creatures that sensed the holy light aura would not approach us. They are not afraid of me, but of the divine being. The intelligent life on the island also dared not rebel against us. A few fools tried to rebel before, but they were burned to ashes by the holy light aura."

Lin Mo frowned: "Us? There are many people like you?"

Samu nodded and continued.

"There are quite a few like me. Every year, people are sent here. Those who have made contributions but are not strong enough to go to the God Realm are sent here. We have also set up a teleportation array, and we can hold gatherings occasionally."

The spirit of Saint Zefa, who was standing to the side, also spoke to Lin Mo:

"This place is known as a sacred place within the church, and many believers want to come here."

"Pure Land?"

Lin Mo gave a very faint, cold laugh.

The islanders control the population through the most primitive form of killing, and the Vatican's lackeys act as local tyrants here. Does this godforsaken place deserve to be called a paradise?

……

Then Sam led Lin Mo toward the center of the village.

The closer you get to that clock, the stronger the smell of blood becomes.

The walls of the wooden houses on both sides of the dirt road were splattered with fresh blood, and several mutilated corpses lay across the road, their intestines hanging out of the ground.

A burly man was straddling another man, smashing stones into his face repeatedly until his hands were covered in bits of flesh and bone, while he let out incoherent, maniacal laughter.

Not far away, a woman rushed out of the alley, clutching a pair of scissors dripping with blood. She screamed and charged at Samu when she saw him.

"Kill them! Kill them all!"

Samu was also startled by the crazy woman.

Lin Mo simply frowned.

He stopped, his right hand resting on the hilt of the black sword, and a killing aura silently spread out from beneath his feet.

A blood-red light curtain spread outwards from him, instantly enveloping the entire village.

The edge of the territory swept past every wooden house, every alley, and every villager still wielding a weapon.

Then, he drew his black sword and casually slashed, killing the woman.

An invisible sword flashed across every inch of space within the area, and all the villagers who were still standing froze in their tracks at the same moment.

The corpses fell to the ground in unison, their muffled thuds echoing one after another, like a bag of potatoes being dumped on the ground at the same time.

The whole village fell silent.

There were no more shouts of killing, no more wild laughter, only the low chimes of the clock in the distance and the whistling of the wind blowing through the cracks in the wooden houses.

Samu stood frozen in place, his legs trembling like leaves, his teeth chattering.

He opened his mouth several times before finally managing to squeeze out a few words: "M-Sir, this way..."

It was only then that Sam realized how terrifying Lin Mo was.

This guy really doesn't hold back when it comes to killing.

The two arrived at the clock.

Upon closer inspection, its outer shell is not metal, but a dark gray material that Lin Mo has never seen before. The surface is covered with densely packed runes, which flash on and off as the pointer moves, like a slowly beating heart.

The clock's base was deeply embedded in the rocky ground, with a few broken stone slabs and clumps of withered grass scattered around it.

Samu crouched down around the clock base, his fingers groping on the ground, digging through a thick layer of soil and gravel to reveal a rusty iron plate.

He gripped the groove on the edge of the iron plate and pried it up with force. The iron plate creaked open, revealing a stone staircase extending downwards.

The steps were narrow, allowing only one person to pass at a time. The stone walls on both sides were covered with unknown dark moss, and a damp, decaying aura rose from the depths, mixed with some extremely faint fluctuations of laws.

Samu stepped aside, bowed to make way, his voice still trembling.

"Sir...this is the place. The prisoners are locked up downstairs."
