Obsessive Young Master Wei: My Beloved Loses Control Every Night
Chapter 142 Zhizhi Today, it's just me.
Not much light could seep through the gaps in the blackout curtains; only the small nightlight by the bedside was on.
She woke up earlier than the alarm clock, her body still tucked in the blankets, but her mind was already rehearsing.
A few hours later, she was going to take Wei Zixian home, not as a neighbor, but as her boyfriend.
My heart was pounding a little fast in my chest.
The parents' impression of Wei Zixian was still fragmented: the quiet young man next door who had a successful business and seemed to have hurt their daughter.
Today, all these labels need to be torn down and rewritten.
Just as I was thinking about how to start the conversation naturally, I heard the rustling sound of bedding behind me.
His warm breath pressed against hers, and Wei Zixian's voice was muffled on the pillow. Before she even opened her eyes, his arms had already wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer until her back was pressed against his chest.
"It's still early." His chin brushed against the top of her head, his voice muffled, as if trying to drag her back to her dream. "Want to sleep a little longer?"
Bian Zhizhi was held tightly in his arms, her fingers resting on his arm across her waist, and she could feel his heartbeat.
The embrace was so comfortable that it almost convinced her.
"I can't sleep," she whispered, her fingertips unconsciously drawing small circles on the inside of his arm.
Wei Zixian gave a vague "hmm," but tightened his grip on her arm even more, clearly not giving up yet.
A few seconds later, he truly came to his senses, opened his eyes, lowered his head and kissed her earlobe, his voice free of sleepiness, carrying a hoarse laugh.
"Then... go take a shower? Then go home." He paused, as if suddenly remembering an important procedure, "I asked Butler Li to prepare a gift; it's my first visit, I can't come empty-handed."
Bian Zhizhi's slight doubt about "whether it's too fast" quietly dissipated in the face of his tense demeanor.
"Okay." She smiled.
Just as I was about to get up, my phone on the bedside table started vibrating, its screen stubbornly lit in the dim light.
Changxi Pavilion.
Bian Zhizhi was taken aback.
It must be late at night in France now.
She turned her head to look at Wei Zixian, and he saw her too. His brows furrowed almost imperceptibly, but he didn't loosen his arms around her. He just buried his face deeper into her neck and waited.
Bian Zhizhi swiped to answer the call: "Xiting?"
The phone rang with the hollow echo of airport announcements: "Zhizhi, I'm sorry for the early call. Something came up with the project, and I just got back to China. There are some details... that need to be discussed with you in person as soon as possible; it's hard to explain over the phone."
His reasoning was flawless.
Before Bian Zhizhi could speak, Wei Zixian's fingertips lightly brushed against her collarbone, his arm tightening as a silent reminder.
"I can't today. I have important plans and I can't spare the whole day. If it's not too urgent, how about we reschedule for tomorrow? Or could you email me first?"
There was a two or three-second silence on the other end of the phone.
When he spoke again, Chang Xiting's voice remained steady, but beneath the gentle tone lay a strange restraint.
"...Okay, it was my oversight. You go ahead with your work."
After hanging up the phone, the room returned to silence.
Bian Zhizhi put down her phone and turned around. Wei Zixian happened to be leaning in, his voice low and nasal, with the languid sound of someone just waking up.
.
"Today, Zhizhi is all mine."
She reached out and smoothed his messy hair. "Yes, it's just for you. Didn't you want to take a shower? If you dawdle any longer, Mom and Dad will get impatient."
Wei Zixian immediately looked up, his eyes shining brightly, showing no trace of grievance, but rather the joy of a successful scheme.
He rolled out of bed, turned around, and stretched out his hand to her, palm up.
"Let's go, after we shower, we'll go home."
*
The trunk contained several exquisitely packaged gift boxes, which Butler Li had quickly prepared after receiving that instruction.
Bian Wenbai received top-grade pre-Qingming Longjing tea and a famous Yixing teapot, while Lin Suxin received a silk shawl, high-end skincare products, imported fruits, and snacks.
The sense of proportion was impeccable, and every detail showed meticulous care.
Wei Zixian wasn't wearing formal attire today; he was wearing light gray casual pants with a white linen shirt, the cuffs rolled up twice to reveal his wrists.
The sense of distance was deliberately weakened, and the aura of "President Wei" disappeared, making him look like a handsome young man visiting an elder.
Bian Zhizhi looked at the large and small bags in his hands, and then at the rare expression on his face, and couldn't help but laugh: "It's just a simple meal."
"It's our first time, so we need to be very polite," Wei Zixian said, his gaze falling on her face. He suddenly leaned closer, a crack appearing in his forced composure. "Zhizhi, do I look alright? Will your aunt and uncle think I'm too dull? Or... not energetic enough?"
Bian Zhizhi looked at him carefully.
The man had deep-set eyes and brows, and when he wasn't smiling, he did have a sense of aloofness. But at this moment, he was staring at me expectantly, his thin lips slightly pursed, and beneath that restrained sharpness lay an unconcealed unease.
Her heart softened, she shook her head, took his arm, and gently pressed her fingertips against the crook of his arm.
"Very good. Especially handsome. Let's go, Wei, son-in-law."
She deliberately spoke the last three words slowly, with a hint of teasing.
Wei Zixian's ears turned visibly red, and he straightened his back and led her towards the building entrance.
Lin Suxin opened the door, wearing an apron and holding a spatula.
When she saw the two people standing side by side at the door, especially her daughter holding Wei Zixian's arm while Wei Zixian carried large bags and had a restrained smile on his face, she was clearly taken aback.
"Auntie, I'm sorry to bother you." Wei Zixian immediately bowed slightly and handed over the gift, "It's just a small token of my appreciation."
"You came all this way, but you brought so much stuff..." Lin Suxin snapped out of her daze, stepped aside to let the two of them in, her gaze lingering on Wei Zixian for a few more seconds before turning to her daughter with a questioning look in her eyes.
Bian Zhizhi winked at her.
Lin Suxin had a general idea of what was going on, and her tone became warmer: "Come in quickly. Lao Bian! Zhizhi brought Xiao Wei back!"
Bian Wenbai got up from the living room, put down the newspaper in his hand, adjusted his glasses, and looked towards the door.
"Hello, Uncle." Wei Zixian greeted him again, his posture very humble, even bowing slightly.
"Okay, have a seat." Bian Wenbai nodded and pointed to the sofa. "I heard from Zhizhi that you're coming over for dinner today."
"Yes, thank you for your attention." Wei Zixian sat down on the sofa, his back straight, his hands neatly placed on his knees.
Bian Zhizhi almost laughed out loud at that sight, but also felt sorry for him.
Lin Suxin went to the kitchen to tend the stove, while Bian Wenbai poured tea. After exchanging pleasantries, the conversation became somewhat dry.
After all, it takes time to adjust from "the neighbor I'm not very familiar with" to "my daughter's boyfriend".
Wei Zixian responded cautiously, answered every question, and was sincere in his attitude.
He didn't boast about his career or try to be charming. He followed his father's lead and talked about current events and health. Occasionally, he would add a funny story about Bian Zhizhi's childhood, which prompted Bian Wenbai to say a few more words.
The atmosphere gradually relaxed as the aroma wafted from the kitchen.
"You guys chat first, I'll go check on the kitchen." Bian Zhizhi stood up and gave Wei Zixian a reassuring look.
Wei Zixian nodded, his eyes conveying "Don't worry".
In the kitchen, Lin Suxin was preparing a fish. Seeing her daughter enter, she lowered her voice and asked, "Is it really settled?"
"Hmm." Bian Zhizhi helped wash the vegetables. "He... is different from before, Mom. At least not to me."
"I could tell." Lin Suxin moved quickly and spoke in an even lower voice, "Look how nervous he was. He didn't know where to put his hands when he came in, and his eyes kept following you."
His manners were impeccable, and he looked quite dashing. Your father will probably have to give him another look, but I think the boy's eyes are genuine.
