Bian Zhizhi raised her hand and reached towards his collar.

Wei Zixian wasn't wearing a tie today, but he had a decorative silk tie stuffed in his suit pocket.

The dark blue color with subtle patterns was something he specifically chose today to match the style that Bian Zhizhi might like.

Bian Zhizhi pulled out the tie.

Wei Zixian held his breath.

Then, he saw Bian Zhizhi stand on tiptoe and blindfold him with her tie.

Vision was plunged into darkness.

Wei Zixian's breath hitched for a moment.

"Zhizhi?" His voice was a little hoarse.

"Shh," Bian Zhizhi whispered in his ear, "Don't ask questions, just follow me."

She took his hand and used her other hand to open the door.

Wei Zixian let her lead him into the room.

The door closed behind me, cutting off the light from the corridor.

In the darkness, other senses become exceptionally sharp.

Wei Zixian smelled the fragrance of roses, not the strong kind, but the scent of roses with dew.

It also smells like scented candles, like cedarwood.

He heard very soft music, a piano piece, the melody as gentle as a lover's whisper.

He could also hear Bian Zhizhi's breathing, which was very close and somewhat rapid.

"Zhizhi..." he couldn't help but call her again.

"Wait a little longer," Bian Zhizhi said, leading him into the room.

Wei Zixian followed her, counting her steps.

Five steps, six steps, and then it stopped.

"Sit down," Bian Zhizhi said.

Wei Zixian obediently sat down on the mattress.

"Now," Bian Zhizhi's voice rang out in front of me, very close, "can you let go now?"

Wei Zixian then realized that he was still holding her hand tightly.

He couldn't bear to let go.

But he slowly loosened his grip.

The moment he lost the sensation of her touch, Wei Zixian felt a void in his heart.

But soon, he heard rustling sounds.

It was the sound of clothes rubbing together, and very light footsteps, as if someone was moving around in the room.

Wei Zixian waited quietly.

With his tie covering his eyes, he couldn't see anything and could only rely on his ears to catch every subtle sound.

He heard the soft sound of a candle being lit, the music being turned up slightly, and the sound of Bian Zhizhi walking to the window, followed by the sound of the curtains being drawn back, and the feeling of a river breeze rushing in.

Then, the footsteps returned to him.

Wei Zixian's heart began to pound wildly.

His shirt was unbuttoned, revealing well-defined abs and a muscular chest.

Wei Zixian's muscles tensed instantly.

"You can take it off now," Bian Zhizhi said.

Her voice was soft, carrying a hint of nervousness, a touch of anticipation, and a wealth of tenderness.

Wei Zixian raised his hand, his fingertips touching the silk tie.

He paused for a second.

Then, slowly pull it down.

The moment his vision returned to light, Wei Zixian was stunned.

He sat on the large bed in the center of the suite, facing a floor-to-ceiling window.

The curtains were fully drawn open, revealing the dazzling night view of the Yantong River outside.

The river is like a black ribbon, reflecting the lights on both banks, which are broken into countless starlight.

The room was decorated to resemble a gentle dream.

The floor was covered with rose petals, stretching from the doorway all the way to the bedside. The petals were in varying shades of pink and white, like a path paved with petals.

Dozens of scented candles were lit all around, their flickering light casting shimmering shadows on the walls.

The candles were arranged in a heart shape, surrounding him and Bian Zhizhi in the middle.

The air was filled with the fragrance of roses and cedar, warm and lingering.

The background music was Chopin's Nocturne, with the piano sounds flowing like water throughout the room.

But none of these things were what made Wei Zixian stunned.

What made him stop breathing and his heart stop beating was Bian Zhizhi standing in front of him.

She stood in the center of the candlelight, her smoky pink silk dress shimmering like pearls in the candlelight.

The straps were so thin they were almost invisible, revealing her delicate collarbones and rounded shoulders.

The dress hugged her figure, highlighting her slender waist, and the hem flared out, reaching down to her ankles.

Her hair was styled in a loose bun, with a few stray strands hanging down her neck.

A touch of glitter was swept at the outer corner of her eyes, sparkling in the candlelight.

She wore a pink diamond necklace around her neck, the teardrop-shaped pendant resting just below her collarbone, rising and falling gently with her breath.

But what Wei Zixian couldn't take his eyes off was her eyes.

Those eyes, which were always gentle and calm, were now filled with candlelight, and also with a certain emotion.

She looked at him, a slight smile playing on her lips.

It's unrealistically beautiful.

She was so beautiful that Wei Zixian wondered if he was dreaming.

"Wei Zixian," Bian Zhizhi said, her voice exceptionally clear in the quiet room.

Wei Zixian suddenly came to his senses.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but found his throat tight and he couldn't utter a single word.

"Don't speak yet." Bian Zhizhi took a step forward, her footsteps rustling softly on the rose petals. "Let me finish."

She stopped by the bed, very close to him.

Wei Zixian was so close that he could smell her perfume, a fresh scent of citrus mixed with white flowers, like the breeze of an early summer evening.

"I've thought a lot these past three months," Bian Zhizhi said softly, her gaze gently falling on his face. "I've thought about what happened three years ago, and why we ended up like that. I've also thought about how I've spent these three years, and how you've spent them."

Wei Zixian's Adam's apple bobbed.

"I know you've been trying to change. Your gentleness and patience every day. You've taken ninety-nine steps for me. So today, I want to take the last step."

She took a deep breath, took the velvet box out of her handbag, and opened it.

Inside were a pair of deep blue starry agate cufflinks.

"These cufflinks were custom-made for me." Bian Zhizhi handed the box to him. "They have our initials engraved on them."

Wei Zixian's gaze fell on the cufflinks, then he looked up at Bian Zhizhi.

His eyes reddened.

"Wei Zixian," Bian Zhizhi looked into his eyes and said firmly, word by word:

"I like you."

"It's not gratitude, it's not being moved, it's being touched. It's the feeling of my heart still racing when I see you again after three years.

It's the feeling of loving you while also feeling heartache when I see you change for me and work so hard for me.

It's a feeling that I've grown more certain of liking someone with each passing day over the past few months.

Her tears finally fell, sliding down her cheeks like diamonds in the candlelight.

But she was still smiling.

"So, will you... officially become my boyfriend?"

The moment Bian Zhizhi uttered that last question, she felt the whole world fall silent.

All that remained were the crackling of the candlelight, the flowing music, and her own thunderous heartbeat.

She looked at Wei Zixian, at his red-rimmed eyes, at his slightly trembling lips, and at the emotions surging in his eyes that were almost overflowing.

It seems like a long time has passed.

It seemed like only a moment.
