Eagle Hunter recounted a legend he had heard in his tribe when he was young: "It is said that long ago, the beastmen were just beastmen and could not switch between two forms. At that time, the herbivorous tribe only ate grass. The totem spirit descended upon the earth, blessing the beastmen and giving them the ability to transform their forms. After they could transform into human form, the herbivorous tribe also began to eat meat, but because their hunting ability was limited, they could only eat half meat and half grass."

"What about the humans?"

"What's wrong with the human race?"

"What has humanity received in return for the blessings of the totem spirits?"

Eagle Hunter pondered for a moment: "Humans haven't received the blessings of the totem spirits, and it seems they haven't changed much from before. Perhaps it's because totems and such are beast-like."

In other words, according to normal biological evolution, humans who can use tools would still dominate the world. However, the evolutionary process of this world went awry. The totem spirit forcibly enhanced the intelligence and strength of the beastmen and also granted them some magical abilities. Perhaps because the totem spirit is a beastman, it favors the beastmen and the benefits given to humans seem to leak out occasionally. For example, female humans sometimes awaken some magical abilities, but the proportion is much lower than that of beastmen.

Every tribe has a shaman, including human tribes. If the previous shaman dies without choosing a successor, the tribe must find a way to send someone to another tribe to learn witchcraft, which comes at a very high cost. Tribes without shamans are easily wiped out. Usually, such tribes will disintegrate or become subordinate tribes of other tribes, and subordinate tribes must give up half of their hunting spoils.

The original owner was a marginal member of the tribe and didn't know much about it. Now, Ye summarizes it and it seems that the shaman's prayers can really bring the protection of the totem spirit and also receive instructions from the totem spirit, such as this tribe relocation.

As they approached the mountains, Falcon Hunter finally spoke up, words he'd been holding back for days: "Ye, if you have the chance, could you take in another male orc?"

"Huh? Why? Is it mandatory for one female to have multiple males in your tribe?" Ye asked curiously. She remembered that her original tribe did not force this. She could find a male to form a bond with first, and then decide whether to take in other males.

However, they will usually be taken back, not because of lust, but mainly because of survival. In harsh living conditions, it is difficult for a male to maintain a small family.

"No, it depends on the female's own wishes. But we live outside, and I, an orc, can't protect you. Like last time when we were surrounded by flying beasts, if there had been another orc, he could have protected you." Falcon Hunter gave an example. Another reason is that he can't transform into human form during the day. His beast form isn't flexible enough, and he can't do many things to help the female.

"Oh, then let's leave it at that for now. I can protect myself." Ye was too lazy to work things out with others. She kept Eagle Hunter because of his special circumstances. He wouldn't be going back to live in the tribe. He could help her hunt and also meet her own needs.

Human women in this world do not have a specific estrus cycle, nor do they have menstrual cycles like women in other worlds. However, they have a very difficult-to-discuss issue: every now and then, they experience a few days of extremely strong sexual desire.

The original owner was almost beaten to death because of this. She had never been raised by female elders and was unaware of her own physical condition. One day, she suddenly developed a very strong desire to get close to the males in the tribe. Unfortunately, the male she wanted to get close to was the one another female had taken a liking to. That female was tall and strong and beat her up directly. Males don't directly hit females, and females can only try to break up fights. The original owner had an awkward position in the tribe, and no one intervened. She was beaten and injured all over her body and almost died.

Eagle Hunter moved his beak but didn't say anything more. That was all he could do for now. Ye didn't want to live in the tribe. There were practically no orcs like him wandering around, and even if he wanted to, it wouldn't be easy to find one.

As they spoke, they approached the mountain range. The falcon hunter first found a mountaintop with dense vegetation, and with a cry from the falcon, he drove away the wild animals nearby.

"Wait here for a moment, I'll go check out that cave."

"Okay, go ahead." Ye stretched his arms and legs and looked around at his surroundings.

After the falcon flew away, Ye squatted down under a tree and carefully observed the plants. This place was far from the original owner's living environment, and it seemed that the types of plants had changed a lot. She wondered if she could still find some wild vegetables to eat.

Danger struck in an instant. Ye, who was crouching on the ground, suddenly felt her hair stand on end. She rolled over and found herself in a spot occupied by a toad-like creature. She tried to pounce, but failed. The toad then used its hind legs to pounce again, but it still missed.

The toad was bewildered. Its prey had suddenly disappeared, and its small brain simply couldn't comprehend the situation, so it simply sat there and didn't move.

Ye, who had entered the space for refuge, dared not come out and could only pray in his heart that Eagle Hunter would return soon.

Fortunately, the falcon hunter returned in about half an hour and saw a rascal in the place where he had settled the female, but the female was nowhere to be seen. He was instantly furious and, ignoring the venom on the rascal's body, grabbed it with his claws and tore it apart in mid-air.

This kind of rascal beast itself doesn't have much fighting power. Its greatest weapon is its body full of venom. Under normal circumstances, the falcon hunter wouldn't bother to provoke the rascal beast. Although the poison wouldn't kill it, the antidote would be quite troublesome. Now, in his anger, he completely disregarded the harm of the venom and killed the rascal beast in one move.

Ye couldn't see what was happening outside the space, but she could hear the sounds. She heard the mournful cry of a falcon. She carefully left the space and saw the torn-up toad. She turned and ran behind a tree, avoiding the rain of blood.

"Ye?" The falcon, its claws still stained with blood and flesh, swooped down.

Ye, leaning against the tree trunk, emerged from behind the tree and said, "I think I've been poisoned."

Her arm was scratched when that ugly thing first pounced. There was only wound medicine in the space, so she disinfected and cleaned it, but it didn't seem to help much. Her vision went black and she felt weak all over.

"The scoundrel is covered in poison. You were scratched by its claws. It's okay, it's okay, don't be afraid. I know how to cure the scoundrel's poison." The falcon hunter reassured her, but he was actually panicking. He dared not leave the female alone outside anymore, but he was in his eagle form now and could not hold her.

"Do we need to find some herbs?" Ye gritted her teeth, fighting off wave after wave of dizziness.

"Well, but you can't stay here alone. Rascals usually live together as a male and a female." Although he didn't know why the other one hadn't appeared, he didn't dare gamble that it would never show up.
