In a room on the left side of the front yard, Li Kaixin was still fast asleep.

Suddenly, a loud knocking sound rang out on the door.

"Who is it?" Li Kaixin mumbled sleepily, put on her clothes, and went to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, Chen Yongtai and Chen Yong'an stood smiling in the doorway.

"Brother Yongtai? Brother Yong'an?"

Li Kaixin rubbed her eyes, her voice still grumpy from just waking up, "Why are you here again today? Did something happen?"

"Hope you're alright today!"

Chen Yongtai grinned, turned his head and pointed behind him, "Hurry up and get ready, your brother is taking you to a good place today."

Li Kaixin looked in the direction he pointed and saw a large military green truck parked outside the courtyard gate.

There were seven or eight young men in military uniforms in the truck bed, peering around curiously.

"A good place?"

Li Kaixin was now fully awake and looked at him suspiciously. "Brother Yongtai, you're not going to drag me to the army camp, are you?"

Chen Yongtai was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter: "Wow, Kaixin, you could even guess that?"

"Really?"

Li Kaixin was somewhat surprised, then shook his head, "Let's forget it! It's probably against the rules for an ordinary person like me to go."

"What's wrong with that!"

Chen Yongtai put his arm around his shoulder and said, "We're not going to any military restricted areas. We'll just take you around the shooting range and training grounds."

"Those guys outside were supposed to be off today, but they all came over after they heard about you."

Chen Yong'an, who was standing nearby, also came over and advised with a grin:

"Kaixin, stop dawdling. We came all this way to pick you up; if you don't go, we'll have made a wasted trip!"

"Alright!"

Seeing that they had all said that, Li Kaixin nodded: "Then wait for me a moment, I'll go and tell my parents across the street."

He was actually quite curious about military life, and now that he had this opportunity, he didn't want to miss it.

The three of them then walked out of the courtyard together.

As Li Kaixin passed the entrance of courtyard number 93, he said something to the two people and then quickly went inside.

Chen Yongtai and Chen Yong'an then walked towards the car.

As they approached, a young soldier poked his head out from the truck bed and said with a grin:

"Yong'an, you weren't so drunk by that young man that you can't even stand up, were you?"

"Yeah, your alcohol tolerance is really low," another one teased.

Chen Yong'an, feeling embarrassed, retorted stiffly:

"Hey Jiang Dahe and Wang Feng, don't laugh, you'll be in for a tough time tonight."

"Don't worry about that, we'll definitely get that kid drunk for you."

Jiang Dahe, unconcerned, turned around and shouted behind him, "Don't you think so?"

Although no one made a sound in the truck bed, their eyes clearly showed that they were all looking forward to a good show.

"well!"

Chen Yong'an, provoked, raised his voice, "Are you all this arrogant? Don't blame me for not warning you later; you'll be slapped in the face!"

"Alright, alright! Stop arguing."

Chen Yongtai interrupted them with a laugh, "If you're so capable, let's have a real drinking contest tonight. Let's think about how to entertain everyone today."

Upon hearing this, the young men in the truck bed's eyes lit up, and they immediately huddled together and began to discuss it in hushed tones.

On the other side, Li Kaixin walked into the backyard and bumped into her father, who was coming out of the kitchen with toiletries.

"Happy, you're up early! You don't even get a proper night's sleep during your vacation?" Father Li Mingde said with a smile as he walked towards the sink.

Li Kaixin sighed helplessly, "Dad, I didn't want this either! But Yongtai and the others came knocking on the door early this morning."

"Were they the two grandsons of Old Master Chen from that day?" Father Li Mingde stopped in his tracks.

"Yes, they said they'd take me to the military camp. I came to let you know."

Upon hearing this, Li Mingde, the father, showed some approval: "Alright! It's good for Kaixin to go and see for herself."

Qin Xiuli, the mother who had overheard their conversation, poked her head out of the house and couldn't help but give them some instructions:

"Kaixin, be sure to follow the rules in the military camp and don't cause trouble for others."

"Yes, Mother," Li Kaixin replied, then turned and walked quickly outside.

Seeing him about to leave, his mother, Qin Xiuli, quickly called out from behind, "Kaixin, why don't you eat your meal before you go?"

"No need, Yongtai and the others are already waiting outside." Li Kaixin waved his hand without turning his head.

Back outside the courtyard, Chen Yongtai and his brother had already finished discussing things with the men in the truck bed.

He was leaning against the car door smoking when he saw Li Kaixin come out, and quickly put out his cigarette.

"Happy, you're here?"

Chen Yongtai smiled and opened the passenger door. "Come on, get in, let's go."

Li Kaixin didn't stand on ceremony and got into the passenger seat.

Chen Yongtai followed closely behind, climbed into the driver's seat, and started the car.

The truck slowly drove out of the alley, and several young soldiers in the truck bed started making a ruckus.

Jiang Dahe leaned out and tapped on the driver's side window:

"Brother Yongtai, hurry up! Driving this slowly is slower than walking!"

"What's the rush!"

Chen Yongtai chuckled, gripping the steering wheel. "Driving that fast in the city, you want to get a ticket, don't you?"

Jiang Dahe, perched in the truck bed, squinted in the wind, pulled his head back, and continued muttering, "Well, now you're afraid of getting punished? You're never like this usually!"

"Dahe, can't you see that yet?"

Chen Feng, standing nearby, chuckled and chimed in, "Brother Yongtai is just taking care of little Kaixin!"

"Little Kaixin looks so young, we'd better take good care of him," another young soldier joked.

Li Kaixin heard the laughter and chatter behind her and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

"Kaixin, don't pay them any mind. These guys may be glib, but they're actually quite shrewd." Chen Yongtai shook his head with a smile.

"It's okay, Yongtai," Li Kaixin smiled, "I think it's good to have some fun."

After the truck left Beijing, Chen Yongtai picked up speed and sped off in one direction.

The men in the truck bed kept talking, chatting away.

"Hey Happy Brother, I heard you got Yong'an drunk?"

Jiang Dahe, who was lying on the front fender of the truck bed, suddenly yelled at the passenger.

Li Kaixin was taken aback by the question and denied it, saying, "No, Brother Dahe?"

Chen Yong'an, who was behind the truck bed, immediately panicked and reached out to gag Jiang Dahe.

He truly regretted blurting it out yesterday, and now he wished he could disappear into a crack in the ground.

Jiang Dahe pulled his hand away from Chen Yong'an, but seeing the murderous look in his eyes, he wisely changed his words: "Oh, maybe I remembered wrong."

Upon hearing this, the others in the back of the truck bed blushed and forced back their laughter.
