The next morning, a knocking sound came from outside the door.

Immediately afterward, Li Kai's younger brother's excited voice rang out: "Big brother, big brother, get up!"

Li Kaixin slowly opened her eyes, propped herself up, her mind not yet fully clear.

Seeing that there was no movement inside for a long time, Li Kai, the younger brother outside the door, reached out to knock again.

"Squeak!" The door opened from the inside.

Seeing his older brother's strange expression, Li Kai, the younger brother, froze in mid-air, then gave an awkward smile: "Big brother, I just came to call you for breakfast, you believe me?"

"I believe you!" Li Kaixin gave a playful smile. "Then I won't be taking you there today."

"No, big brother!" Li Kai, the younger brother, immediately put on a pitiful look. "You promised!"

"Then look, what time is it now?"

As Li Kaixin spoke, she held up her wrist, which was adorned with a watch, to her younger brother's eyes. "It's only six o'clock, and you've already woken me up."

"Big brother, I was wrong, okay?!"

Li Kai, the younger brother, glanced at the time and quickly grabbed his older brother's arm and shook it, saying, "I was just worried you'd oversleep and wouldn't make it in time to take us!"

"Alright, alright, stop shaking me." Li Kaixin was exasperated by his shaking. "I'll take you, I'll take you, okay? Let's wash up first, alright?"

"Okay, thanks, big brother!" The younger brother, Li Kai, immediately let go and ran to the kitchen in a flash.

Li Kaixin followed behind, smiling helplessly.

Judging from the situation, I probably can't avoid it tomorrow either; I guess I won't be able to sleep in.

In the kitchen, the father was walking out with a cup for rinsing his mouth when he saw his second son running in. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Wow, the sun must have risen in the west today. You're up so early."

"That's right! They woke me up very early this morning," Li Kaixin said as she walked into the kitchen.

The father, Li Mingde, showed no sympathy for his eldest son. Instead, he said with a hint of mockery, "You were the one who promised to deliver it to him today. Who can you blame?"

"Fine! Did I make a mistake by agreeing?" Li Kaixin shrugged.

Upon seeing this, younger brother Li Kai immediately defended his older brother: "Dad, don't talk nonsense! Big brother keeps his word!"

After saying that, she tilted her little face up and gave Li Kaixin a flattering smile.

Seeing his second son's smug expression, father Li Mingde couldn't help but laugh and scold, "You brat, you've really grown wings, daring to stand up to your old man and talk back to your older brother?"

"Dad, I'm on the side of justice!" Li Kai, the younger brother, puffed out his chest, looking righteous and awe-inspiring.

Watching his younger brother being so brave, Li Kaixin couldn't help but secretly give him a thumbs up in her heart.

"Alright! I think you're asking for it today." Father Li Mingde said, and was about to reach out and grab his second son's buttocks.

Upon seeing this, the younger brother, Li Kai, scrambled behind his older brother, shouting, "Big brother! Help me!"

"You three, stop making a fuss over there," Qin Xiuli, the mother who was busy at the stove, said. "Breakfast is almost ready, so hurry up and wash up."

My mother's words still have an effect.

Father Li Mingde immediately stopped and pointed at his son, feigning anger: "You brat, just you wait, see how I deal with you later."

The younger brother, Li Kai, hid behind his older brother and even stuck out his tongue defiantly at his father.

Father Li Mingde didn't say anything more and turned to walk towards the water trough in the yard.

Li Kaixin turned to look at her younger brother behind her, amused. "Aren't you really afraid Dad will beat you?"

"Big brother! Isn't it here for you?"

The younger brother, Li Kai, looked up at his older brother, his tone becoming timid again: "Big brother, I was just speaking up for you. If... if Dad really beats me up later, you'd better stop him."

Li Kaixin didn't reply and went straight to get her toiletries.

"Hey, big brother, don't go!" Li Kai, the younger brother, immediately followed.

Li Kaixin held an enamel mug and a towel in one hand, and patted her younger brother's shoulder with the other, speaking earnestly:

"Xiao Kai, I'm very grateful to you. But I can't help you with that last bit of provocation towards Dad."

"You'd better pray for yourself!"

After saying that, he walked towards the water trough in the yard.

Reaching the sink, the father was washing his face. Turning to see his eldest son approaching, he asked, "Where's Xiao Kai? Still not here?"

"Not yet!" Li Kaixin turned on the tap and asked tentatively, "Dad, are you really going to beat him up?"

"Hmph!" Father Li Mingde put down the towel, giving his eldest son a dangerous look. "What, you want to speak up for him?"

"No, no, I was just asking casually." Li Kaixin immediately sensed a murderous aura and quickly waved his hand.

He knew his younger brother was likely going to get a lesson.

Just then, his younger brother Li Kai arrived, dawdling along.

Looking at her father, she forced a smile: "Dad, I was just joking with you. You...you wouldn't be so petty, would you?"

Li Kaixin's lips twitched, and he thought to himself: This kid is still building up his anger points. Is he really afraid of not beating me enough?

"No, no!" Father Li Mingde smiled sinisterly as he approached his second son step by step. "Xiao Kai, stay there and don't move."

"Dad, please don't come any closer. I was really wrong, okay?" Li Kai, the younger brother, couldn't help but take a half step back.

When his father, Li Mingde, saw that he was trying to slip away, he stepped forward and caught him in one swift motion.

When Li Kai, the younger brother, saw that he had been caught, he turned to look at his older brother with pleading eyes.

Li Kaixin immediately turned her head away, muttering, "Oh dear! It's getting late, I have to go wake Xiaoxiao up."

Before he finished speaking, he quickly walked away with his toiletries.

"Big brother! Waaah..." Li Kai tried to shout, but his father covered his mouth before he could finish.

Hearing his younger brother's half-sob, Li Kaixin quickened his pace.

Only after his figure completely disappeared behind the kitchen door did his father, Li Mingde, release his grip.

Li Kai, the younger brother, looked at his father with his head drooping like a deflated balloon: "Dad, could...could you hit me a little lighter?"

What do you think?

Father Li Mingde raised his hand and gave his second son a few light slaps on the buttocks, scolding him as he did so:

"You think I'm stingy?!"

"You stuck your tongue out at me, huh!"

Suddenly, a series of "Ouch!" sounds rang out in the courtyard.

Hearing the commotion, the neighbors all peeked out to see what was happening.

Seeing that it was Li Mingde disciplining the children, they were no longer surprised and went back to their own rooms to attend to their own business.

Upon entering the kitchen, Li Kaixin couldn't help but shudder, silently praying for her younger brother.

Mother Qin Xiuli stopped cleaning the stove, looked up and asked, "Kaixin, what's going on outside? I heard Xiaokai shouting."

"Mom, don't worry about it, Xiao Kai is receiving loving education from his father!" Li Kaixin replied with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Qin Xiuli, the mother, smiled and shook her head, continuing to clean the stove.

After putting away the toiletries, Li Kaixin went around to her sister's room from the side door.
