Time Travel: My Comfortable Life After Going to the Countryside
Chapter 217 is a pity.
The door was pushed open, and Sun Famiao walked in with a teacup in his hand. He stood on the podium and glanced around.
When the message landed on Liu Xiangyang's side, he paused for a moment.
"Liu Xiangyang, come to my office after class."
The classroom fell silent for a moment.
All eyes turned to Liu Xiangyang.
Liu Xiangyang stood up: "Okay."
Sun Famiao nodded and opened his lecture notes.
"Attend class."
In one lesson, Sun Famiao explained the pathways of the twelve meridians and their main acupoints.
He spoke slowly but clearly, drawing diagrams on the blackboard as he spoke.
Some people below were taking notes, while others were completely confused.
Liu Xiangyang took a few notes, but spent most of the time listening.
He had seen some of these things in Dr. Han's book, but Sun Famiao's perspective was different, and some of them were things he had never thought of.
When the bell rang, Sun Famiao picked up his teacup.
"Liu Xiangyang, come with me."
Liu Xiangyang stood up and followed him outside.
Behind him, Wang Dazhu muttered under his breath, "Did Xiangyang do something wrong? Why was he called away by Teacher Sun?"
Zhao Xiaoman glared at him: "Don't talk nonsense, it might be a good thing."
Sun Famiao's office was on the first floor of the teaching building. It wasn't big, just a table, a chair, and a cabinet crammed with books.
He sat down, took out a mimeographed lecture note from the drawer, and handed it to Liu Xiangyang.
Have you studied this before?
Liu Xiangyang took it; the cover read "A Compilation of Clinical Experience in Acupuncture and Moxibustion".
He looked up at Sun Famiao: "Dr. Sun, I haven't seen this before."
Sun Famiao picked up the enamel mug, took a sip, and smacked his lips.
"How long did your master teach you?"
"Less than half a year."
"You've learned so much in less than six months," Sun Famiao said, looking at him. "You're very talented."
Liu Xiangyang smiled but didn't say anything.
Sun Famiao took another sip and put the jar down.
"Alright, here you go. Take a good look at it, and ask me if you have any questions."
Liu Xiangyang nodded, turned around and walked out of the office.
At noon, Liu Xiangyang was carrying his lunchbox and looking for a seat when Wang Dazhu squeezed in.
"Xiangyang, what did Teacher Sun want with you this morning?"
Liu Chaoyang put down his rice bowl: "He gave me a handout."
"That's it?" Wang Dazhu looked incredulous. "I thought you had made a mistake."
Liu Xiangyang glanced at him: "You're overthinking it."
"I didn't think much of it," Wang Dazhu said in a low voice. "I've heard that Professor Sun is very famous. Even the dean is his student. He's retired, but he came here to teach us in response to Chairman Mao's call."
"He really did give me a handout. Here, take a look." Liu Xiangyang placed the book that Dr. Sun had given him on the table.
Wang Dazhu saw the book, picked it up and flipped through it: "Hey, I know these words, but they don't know me."
Suddenly someone sat down next to me.
Liu Xiangyang turned his head and saw Zhao Xiaoman.
She held the rice bowl, looking at him with a smile.
"Liu Xiangyang, don't forget Wednesday."
Liu Xiangyang nodded.
"I can't forget it."
Zhao Xiaoman was satisfied, lowered her head to eat, and smiled.
Monday and Tuesday flew by.
The training course was structured: Sun Famiao's class in the morning, Zhou Zhiming's class in the afternoon, and self-study in the evening.
Liu Xiangyang has been flipping through the book "A Compilation of Clinical Experience in Acupuncture and Moxibustion" for the past two days, occasionally flipping through Sun Famiao's old notes. He writes down a few parts that he doesn't understand, intending to ask about them when he has the chance.
Zhao Xiaoman still came over every day, sometimes giving her a piece of candy, sometimes asking about acupoints, and sometimes saying nothing at all, just sitting next to her flipping through a book.
Zhou Zhiming taught his classes as usual those two days. He called on Liu Xiangyang twice, asking questions that had just been covered. Liu Xiangyang answered correctly, and Zhou Zhiming nodded without saying anything more.
Wang Dazhu muttered to himself, "Why hasn't Teacher Zhou been being sarcastic these past two days?"
On Wednesday morning, Sun Famiao was lecturing on the acupoints of the Yangming Large Intestine Meridian.
"Shangyang, Erjian, Sanjian, Hegu, Yangxi..." he said, gesturing on his hand. "The Hegu acupoint is mainly used to treat headaches, toothaches, fever, and sore throats. Remember, it's located here..."
Before he could finish speaking, the door was pushed open.
A young nurse in a white coat poked her head in, her face showing urgency: "Dr. Sun, there's a patient in the outpatient department that Dr. Li isn't sure about and would like you to come and take a look."
Sun Famiao frowned and put down the pointer in his hand.
"What's going on?"
The nurse took two steps forward and said a few words in a low voice.
After listening, Sun Famiao nodded and turned to leave.
After taking two steps, he suddenly stopped and looked back at the classroom.
"Liu Xiangyang, come with me."
The classroom fell silent for a moment.
All eyes turned to Liu Xiangyang.
Liu Xiangyang paused for a moment, then stood up and followed him outside.
The outpatient department is in another building.
Sun Famiao walked quickly, and Liu Xiangyang followed behind, without saying a word the whole way.
Walk through the corridor and turn into a consultation room.
There were several people standing in the room: a young doctor in a white coat, two nurses, and a middle-aged couple. The woman was sitting on a stool, clutching her stomach, her face pale.
When the young doctor saw Sun Famiao enter, he quickly went to greet him: "Teacher, you've arrived. This patient..."
Sun Famiao waved his hand and walked to the patient.
"Where do you feel unwell?"
The woman clutched her lower right abdomen, her voice weak: "It's been hurting here... for two days now, in waves, and it hurt really bad this morning."
Sun Famiao reached out and pressed down, and the woman hissed and backed away.
"Do you have a fever?" The young doctor quickly stepped forward: "You have a slight fever. I just took your temperature again, and it's 37.8 degrees Celsius."
Sun Famiao pressed the buttons again, asked a few questions, then stood up and looked at the young doctor.
"What do you think, Xiao Li?"
Dr. Li rubbed his hands together: "I suspect it's appendicitis, but... the pain is located in a lower part of her body, and there's no obvious rebound tenderness, so I'm not sure."
Sun Famiao didn't speak, but turned to look at Liu Xiangyang.
"Come and take a look."
Liu Xiangyang was stunned for a moment.
Everyone in the room looked at him. He was a young man in his early twenties, dressed plainly, and looked like a student.
The young doctor's expression was somewhat subtle.
Liu Xiangyang walked over and squatted down in front of the patient.
"I'll press it, just let me know if it hurts."
He reached out and pressed on the patient's lower right abdomen. The woman frowned but didn't say anything.
He pressed on other areas and asked a few questions: When did the pain start? How does it hurt? How is your appetite? Are your bowel movements and urination normal?
Then he stood up and looked at Sun Famiao.
"Dr. Sun, I don't think it's appendicitis."
The room fell silent for a moment.
The young doctor frowned. "Not appendicitis? Then what is it?"
Liu Xiangyang didn't answer directly, but turned to the patient.
"Have you been working too hard these past few days? Or have you been lifting heavy things?"
The woman paused for a moment, then looked at the man beside her.
The man thought for a moment: "A couple of days ago, she moved some bags of potatoes..."
Liu Xiangyang nodded and looked at Sun Famiao.
"Abdominal muscle strain. It hurts when the abdominal muscles tighten when pressed, but there are no obvious tender points deep within. There is no rebound tenderness, and the body temperature is not high, so it doesn't seem like appendicitis."
Sun Famiao looked at him without saying a word.
Dr. Li opened his mouth as if to say something, but then swallowed it back.
Sun Famiao suddenly smiled.
He patted Liu Xiangyang on the shoulder and turned to Dr. Li.
"Did you hear that? It's a strained abdominal muscle. Go home and rest for a few days, apply some heat, and it'll be fine."
The woman breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this.
The man quickly thanked the doctor, saying, "Thank you, doctor! Thank you, doctor!"
Dr. Li stood to the side, her expression somewhat complicated.
Sun Famiao didn't say anything more and led Liu Xiangyang outside.
After leaving the consultation room, Liu Xiangyang followed behind without saying a word.
After walking for a while, Sun Famiao suddenly spoke.
How did you come up with that idea?
Liu Xiangyang thought for a moment and said, "My master once told me that stomach aches are not always caused by internal organs."
"The way she was in pain, her abdominal muscles were tense when I pressed on them, but there was no deep reaction, and her body temperature wasn't high, so I thought it was related to her muscles."
"Xiangyang, go back to the classroom and study first. I'll come back later."
Liu Xiangyang took a few steps and heard Sun Famiao's voice behind him: "What a pity..."
