The next day, the two, who hadn't slept all night, parted ways just in time.

With a "pop" sound.

"You're such a little devil. It looks like I won't be able to get anything done this morning. I'll have to catch up on some sleep when I get to work."

"This is my job. If I don't cultivate the fields well, you'll say I'm not doing my job properly."

"Go to the cabinet and get me a pack of sanitary napkins you brought last time. I need to wrap myself in them."

"Hehe, okay, what are you doing? Let me help you put it on."

……

The summer sun was scorching, and the square of the Harbin Railway Station was filled with heat waves and noisy voices. Liu Xiangyang pushed his bicycle and met Zhang Tiejun at the agreed-upon edge of the square. He also saw Old Wang, who was squatting under the shade of a tree not far away, smoking a pipe. Next to Old Wang was a sturdy wooden cart with a glossy blue horse harnessed to it.

"Uncle Wang, you're here too. It's so hot, thank you for making the trip." Liu Xiangyang quickly stepped forward and offered cigarettes to the two of them.

The train's whistle sounded as it approached the station, trailing white smoke as it slowly came to a stop. Soon after, a few scattered passengers began to emerge from the exit.

A little while later, Sun Hong, whom I had just seen yesterday, appeared at the exit, followed by a group of young people carrying heavy luggage, their faces covered in sweat and exhausted from the journey.

She stopped, counted the number of people, and after confirming that there were no mistakes, she led the eight people (seven men and one woman) through the noisy square and walked straight towards the direction where Zhang Tiejun and Liu Xiangyang were waiting.

"Secretary Zhang, I haven't let you down this time!" Sun Hong waved and greeted him from afar. He walked up and shook hands with him. "They're all good prospects. They're all here. Everyone on the list is here. They all had a good journey."

As she spoke, she took out a handover list and roster from her briefcase. "The paperwork is here. Just sign it, and this group of educated youth will be officially handed over to the Dongsheng Production Brigade." Her gaze lingered on Liu Xiangyang beside her, and she nodded.

Zhang Tiejun took the list, looked at it carefully, and then called out the names again according to the roster. The eight educated youths answered in turn, their voices filled with restraint and awkwardness from being in a new place. When Bai Jie answered "Here," her voice was clear and crisp, and she lowered her head slightly.

The handover procedures were completed in a brief conversation and with signatures. Sun Hong then gave a few routine instructions on "doing a good job in receiving and resettling the young people" and "strengthening ideological education," before turning around and leaving, completely handing over these young people who had just left home to Dongsheng Village.

Liu Xiangyang's gaze was instantly locked onto the only female educated youth, Bai Jie, who stood out excessively even among a group of people who were covered in dust and grime.

Her face, however, was that of a typical young girl, with fair skin, delicate and gentle features, especially her eyes, which were large and clear, with a gentle gaze, showing a hint of weariness from a long journey, but not much fear.

She was wearing a slightly worn light blue floral shirt and faded military green trousers, but these most ordinary clothes could not hide her naturally beautiful figure.

The shirt was slightly damp with sweat, clinging to the body and outlining a breathtakingly full figure and a supple waist that seemed impossible to encircle. The trousers hugged the straight and slender legs.

The girl's face, the woman's voluptuous figure, and her calm temperament blended together in a strange yet harmonious way. Among this group of inexperienced male educated youth, she was like a pebble suddenly thrown into the water, instantly attracting all the subtle gazes.

When her gaze met Liu Xiangyang's, who was greeting her from directly in front of her, a fleeting look of surprise flashed across her gentle eyes before she lowered them, a faint blush creeping up her ears.

Liu Xiangyang stood tall and straight, with sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes. His handsome face and calm, mountain-like demeanor made him stand out in the noisy square with a dazzling, incongruous presence. Bai Jie's heart skipped a beat for no reason, and she quickly looked away, only to feel her face getting even hotter.

Zhang Tiejun stepped forward to complete the handover with Sun Hong, checked the list, and called out names one by one. When he called Bai Jie's name, her voice was very soft and sweet.

After the formalities were completed, Zhang Tiejun gave a brief welcome speech and then handed over the task of making introductions to Liu Xiangyang.

Liu Xiangyang stepped forward, his gaze calmly sweeping over the crowd. His gaze lingered briefly on the faces of the seven male educated youths who were either curious, scrutinizing, or secretly glancing at Bai Jie. Finally, his gaze met Bai Jie's calm eyes, and Bai Jie blushed and lowered her head.

Liu Xiangyang nodded and introduced himself succinctly: "Hello everyone, my name is Liu Xiangyang. I'm also a former educated youth, and now I'm a special village patrol officer. It's nice to meet you all. Feel free to come to me if you have any questions in the future."

After saying that, he glanced at Bai Jie and continued, "Everyone is here to learn from the farmers... It's about fifty or sixty li from Bingcheng to our Dongsheng Village. The village has sent a horse-drawn carriage to pick you up. Please take good care of your luggage and personal belongings on the way."

Upon hearing that they would have to walk dozens of miles, several male educated youths looked distressed. Bai Jie, however, remained calm, simply lifting her heavy bedding roll up even higher. This action made her full breasts even more noticeable, causing the male educated youths beside her to stare wide-eyed.

"Put all the luggage on the carriage, it'll be easier that way," Old Wang shouted, starting to help arrange it. Liu Xiangyang also stepped forward to lend a hand, his movements swift and efficient.

When it was Bai Jie's turn to carry that huge bedding roll, Liu Xiangyang naturally reached out and said, "I'll do it." He didn't look Bai Jie in the eye, and his tone was calm.

"Thank you... thank you, Comrade Liu. I... I myself..." Bai Jie's voice was a little flustered, and her hands unconsciously tightened their grip on the straps.

"The journey is still long, save your energy." Without further ado, Liu Xiangyang took the bedding roll. It was indeed heavy. He tensed his arm muscles and steadily lifted the luggage onto the vehicle and arranged it. As he moved, he could feel Bai Jie's gaze following him, filled with gratitude and a hint of barely perceptible shyness.

"Girl, this bundle of yours is quite heavy. What good stuff did you bring?" Old Wang puffed on his cigarette and joked.

Bai Jie blushed even more and said in a soft voice, "Thank you for your help, Comrade Xiangyang. It's just... just some clothes and books."

The luggage was loaded and piled up more than halfway on the cart. Old Wang cracked his whip, the horses started moving, the wheels creaked and turned, and the group began to move slowly. Liu Xiangyang and Zhang Tiejun walked on both sides of the cart to keep watch, and the eight educated youths followed behind. Soon they were stretched into a sparse line on the dusty gravel road.

After walking about three or four miles, the sun became increasingly scorching. Several male educated youths began to pant heavily, constantly drinking the little water left in their water bottles. Bai Jie lagged behind the group, her face pale and her lips dry. Sweat soaked her temples and the back of her clothes, the wet fabric clinging tightly to her skin, revealing her curves. She bit her lip and followed silently.

Seeing this, Liu Xiangyang said, "Everyone, if you're thirsty, have a drink of water. We still have a long way to go, so don't leave because you'll get heatstroke."

"I have some water here, you guys. Let me pour some for you." Two or three male educated youths heard this and ran over with their water bottles: "Thank you, we forgot to fill up our water bottles at the station."

Seeing Bai Jie lick her lips, Liu Xiangyang hesitated to approach her, so he walked directly to her side, handed her the water bottle, and said in a low voice, "Drink some water, don't get heatstroke."

Caught off guard, Bai Jie looked up and met Liu Xiangyang's deep, calm eyes. Two red blushes instantly rose on her face, even her neck turning pink. "Thank... thank you, Comrade Liu..." Her voice was barely audible. She took the bowl with both hands, her fingertips accidentally brushing against Liu Xiangyang's fingers. She trembled slightly as if burned. She picked up the kettle and sipped the water slowly, her eyelashes lowered, not daring to look at him again.

After finishing the drink, she realized it was Liu Xiangyang's water bottle. She thought to herself, "Didn't I just kiss Comrade Liu Xiangyang?" Thinking of this, her face, already red from the sun, became even redder and hotter.

Several male educated youths nearby watched this scene with mixed feelings, some envious, some resentful, but all helpless. Liu Xiangyang smiled slightly, glanced at her, put away the water bottle, and returned to the carriage.

Old Wang glanced at Liu Xiangyang, who had caught up again, then looked at Bai Jie, who was walking with her head down and her ears still red. He took a puff of his cigarette, cracked his whip, and said, "Giddy up!"

The carriage sped up.
