Time Travel: My Comfortable Life After Going to the Countryside
Chapter 161 My son will never go hungry again
As June arrived, the weather began to get hot and dry.
That evening, Liu Xiangyang did not go straight home as usual.
He didn't ride his bicycle; instead, he walked slowly along the dirt road toward the small huts behind the brigade headquarters.
Gu Xiaoyu had just finished dinner—a bowl of thin porridge, half a cornbread, and some pickled vegetables. By the light of the oil lamp, she was carefully sewing the thick insole that was almost finished when she heard familiar footsteps stop at the door. Her heart skipped a beat, and she almost pricked her hand with the needle.
The door wasn't locked, and Liu Xiangyang pushed it open, bringing in a gust of night wind that made the oil lamp flame flicker.
"Brother Xiangyang." Gu Xiaoyu quickly put down her needlework and stood up, her fingers unconsciously rubbing the hem of her clothes. He was later than usual today.
"Hmm." Liu Xiangyang closed the door behind him and bolted it. The very soft "click" sound was particularly clear in the quiet room.
Gu Xiaoyu's breath hitched as she watched him approach step by step. Today, he was only wearing a slightly worn dark shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his muscular forearms. His face didn't have any special expression, but his eyes were deeper than usual, quietly fixed on her.
"The insoles are almost finished." He walked to the table, picked up the half-finished insole, and looked at it.
"It's...it's almost there." Gu Xiaoyu's voice was a little tight.
Liu Xiangyang put down the insoles and glanced at the small house. It was much cleaner and tidier than before. A faded blue cloth was spread on the worn table. On the only windowsill was a chipped earthenware pot with a few unknown wildflowers inside, adding a bit of life to the simple house.
"Well done," he said.
"Since I had nothing to do, I tidied up a bit." Gu Xiaoyu lowered her head, feeling as if his gaze was tangible, and wherever it swept over, that area would involuntarily heat up.
Liu Xiangyang sat down on the only rickety stool in the room and pointed to the edge of the bed: "Sit."
Gu Xiaoyu sat down as instructed, placing her hands on her knees and keeping her back ramrod straight, like a primary school student waiting to be scolded. Her heart was pounding so hard that you could almost hear it thumping.
The dim light of the oil lamp enveloped her in a soft glow, revealing even the fine hairs on her face. Her clean face remained beautiful, but her eyes held a hint of nervousness, and a barely perceptible, desperate submissiveness.
Liu Xiangyang looked at her for a while before speaking, his voice low but exceptionally clear in the quiet room: "You're fully recovered?"
"It's all done, it's been done for a while now." Gu Xiaoyu nodded quickly.
"No movement from Li Jianjun lately?"
"No, Captain Wang and Sister Roland were both watching, he... he didn't dare to do anything."
The question and answer seemed like ordinary concern, but something tense in the air became increasingly apparent.
Liu Xiangyang stopped asking questions and just looked at her. The only sounds in the room were the occasional crackling of the lamp wick and her slightly rapid breathing.
After what seemed like an eternity, he spoke again, his tone calm yet carrying an undeniable authority: "Turn the lamp up a bit brighter."
Gu Xiaoyu stood up, her hands trembling slightly. She picked up the fine needle on the table and carefully raised the wick of the lamp. The flame flickered, and the room became much brighter, leaving her nowhere to hide.
Liu Xiangyang's gaze slowly slid from her face to her slender neck, her thin shoulders, then to the slight rise and fall of her chest, and finally landed on her tightly pressed legs. His gaze carried a scrutinizing quality, as if he were confirming what belonged to him.
Gu Xiaoyu felt as if her skin was being burned wherever that gaze fell. She froze on the spot, her fingers gripping the hem of her clothes, her knuckles turning slightly white.
"Come here," Liu Xiangyang said.
Two words, spoken lightly, yet they struck Gu Xiaoyu's heart.
Gu Xiaoyu moved step by step to him, only half a step away. She could smell the faint scent of tobacco and sweat on him, which mixed into an aggressive masculine aura.
Liu Xiangyang raised his hand, but didn't touch her. He simply ran his fingers very lightly over the fading bruises on her cheek. "Does it still hurt?"
"It doesn't hurt anymore." Gu Xiaoyu's voice trembled, and the place where his fingertips touched felt like a tiny electric current running through it.
"From now on, you belong to me. Only I can make you feel pain, make you cry, make you laugh, and make you feel sweet." Liu Xiangyang withdrew his hand, his tone resolute, as if stating an established fact.
Then, he reached out and grasped her waist. His hands were large and warm, and through the thin fabric of her clothes, she could clearly feel their warmth and strength.
Gu Xiaoyu trembled all over, almost unable to stand. She closed her eyes, her long eyelashes fluttering like the wings of a startled butterfly.
Liu Xiangyang applied slight pressure to pull her closer, making her spread her legs and straddle his lap. This position made her slightly taller than him, but it made her feel completely under his control.
His arms encircled her waist and back, pulling her into his embrace. Their bodies pressed tightly together, and Gu Xiaoyu could feel the breadth and warmth of his chest, as well as the undeniable, gradually awakening outline beneath her.
Her face flushed instantly, her body stiffened, and she didn't know what to do with her hands, so she could only vaguely place them on his shoulders.
"Look at me." Liu Xiangyang's voice rang in my ears, warm and gentle.
Gu Xiaoyu was forced to open her eyes and meet his gaze, which was so close to hers.
"Are you scared?" he asked, his lips almost touching her earlobe.
Gu Xiaoyu shook her head, then nodded, and finally whispered, "No... I'm not afraid. I... I'm willing."
"I know you're willing." Liu Xiangyang's hand slowly moved up from her waist, across her back, and to the back of her head, inserting itself into her slightly dry hair. He gently gripped the roots of her hair, forcing her face to tilt back higher and her lips to open slightly.
His thumb caressed her soft lips, the movement slow and suggestive.
Gu Xiaoyu's breathing became completely disordered, her chest heaving violently, and she looked at him with moist eyes, filled with complete submission.
Liu Xiangyang lowered his head and kissed her lips. He pried open her teeth and plunged in, capturing all her breath and awkward responses.
Gu Xiaoyu was completely unfamiliar with the task and could only passively endure it, clumsily responding in his manner. The kiss was long and deep, robbing her of all her oxygen and ability to think.
When the kiss ended, her eyes were hazy, and she relied entirely on his arm around her waist for support.
Liu Xiangyang's kisses traced along her chin, down to her slender neck, leaving warm, damp marks. His hands were also busy, deftly unbuttoning her old shirt. One button, two buttons… his fingertips occasionally brushed against her delicate skin, sending shivers down her spine.
When the shirt was opened, revealing a small undershirt made of the same old fabric underneath, Gu Xiaoyu visibly flinched, her arms instinctively reaching up to hug herself.
"Don't move," Liu Xiangyang commanded in a low voice, gently pulling her arm away.
Under the dim light, the girl's youthful and beautiful body was half-hidden in front of him. He hadn't expected that her long-term malnutrition had only made her a little thin, but her frame was well-proportioned, reminding him of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau sung by Han Hong. Under the light, her body gleamed with an ivory-like luster, and she had a nervous blush.
Liu Xiangyang's gaze, filled with admiration and fervor, slowly swept over her before he looked down at her.
"My son will never go hungry again."
