Naruto: Building the Strongest Uchiha Starting with Gacha Pulls

Chapter 11 Orochimaru who doesn't want to take on disciples

Unlike her other two teammates, who have the Hokage as their father and the most powerful clan in the ninja world behind them, the Uzuki clan has always been a small clan with no top-tier experts throughout history, and even Jonin are only one or two. Now that she finally has such an opportunity, how could she be willing to give it up?

"That's right, Orochimaru-senpai, don't think I'm just someone who relies on his father just because I'm the Hokage's son!"

Sarutobi Enjun followed closely behind Uzuki Ruri, and said excitedly.

Orochimaru looked at Sarutobi Enjun's excited expression with a hint of disdain in his eyes.

His dead apprentice was so passionate that he ended up walking headlong into a trap set by the enemy and died a horrible death.

"I think Orochimaru-senpai hasn't truly rejected us yet, but is giving us a chance in his own way, right? Otherwise, there would be no need for you to bring us out of the village."

Orochimaru turned his gaze to Uchiha Gen.

Actually, he really didn't want to lead this team because it was too troublesome. Sarutobi Enjun's identity as the son of the Hokage was very sensitive, and he couldn't afford any accidents. But for Orochimaru, Uchiha Gen was even more troublesome.

How about training another Uchiha like Uchiha Kagami?

That means Orochimaru not only wanted to cultivate Gen Uchiha's strength, but also to guide his thinking and turn him into one of his own, not just to keep him from getting into trouble.

but……

"You're not stupid, you're right. I hope you can react just as quickly when you're in danger."

As Orochimaru spoke, he tossed a mission scroll to Gen Uchiha.

"I won't arrange some meaningless survival drills at the beginning like other Jonin. Let's get straight to the point. This mission is one I carefully selected yesterday. Use this mission to prove to me that you are capable of gaining my approval. Otherwise, I'll ask Sarutobi-sensei to find you a different Jonin to lead the team. I have no interest in babysitting cannon fodder who are destined to die on the battlefield."

Orochimaru's move left Sarutobi Enjun and Uzuki Ruri somewhat bewildered.

Is it appropriate for someone to leave the village to perform a mission right after graduation?

Meanwhile, Uchiha Gen had already unrolled the scroll he received and begun to read it.

Extraordinary people do extraordinary things. Orochimaru is indeed someone who doesn't adhere to rules and has a very strong sense of self.

Given that his identity is different from that of an ordinary Jonin, such a thing happening is both unexpected and reasonable.

After realizing what was happening, Sarutobi Enjun and Uzuki Ruri also leaned over to look at the contents of the scroll.

[Rank C Mission: Locate and eliminate bandits, and collect taxes]

[Mission Commissioner: Orochimaru's Team]

[Contractor: Lord of River Valley, Land of Fire]

[Reward for the mission: 60,000 taels]

[Task assignment details: ...]

C-level mission?

The first mission for a genin is a C-rank. This must be the first time in the entire Hidden Leaf Village, or even the Five Great Ninja Villages.

It's a wonder the Third Hokage agreed to give Orochimaru's team this kind of mission. Wasn't he afraid of something unexpected happening?

Gen Uchiha glanced at Orochimaru out of the corner of his eye.

Okay, with Orochimaru around, even if he's not in his complete form, his abilities are far beyond those of an ordinary Jonin, so there shouldn't be any problems.

For Orochimaru and Hiruzen Sarutobi, it's better to have an accident on a mission of this level than to have an accident on the battlefield in the future.

At least for now, Orochimaru's strength is enough to cover the fallout.

For Gen Uchiha, being able to carry out a C-rank mission at this stage is also a good thing.

The experience gained will be far greater than what a regular genin would get from a grueling D-rank mission.

I wonder what kind of trickery lies behind this seemingly simple C-level mission.

Because Orochimaru had previously stated that this mission was one he had carefully selected.

Soon, after registering their ninja numbers and other information with the Chunin guarding the Konoha gate, the group set off together and left the village.

This mission is located in a relatively remote river valley town. Although it is not particularly far from Konoha, transportation is not very convenient. It is quite troublesome for anyone other than ninjas to get there.

The town was able to develop because of certain conditions.

Aside from the inconvenient transportation, the soil here is quite fertile, and the surrounding mountains contain abundant mineral veins and forestry resources, enough to be self-sufficient. They can also sell minerals and other resources to generate wealth, providing the daimyo with tax revenue worth millions of taels every year.

However, shortly after the outbreak of the Ninja World War, a group of bandits appeared in the vicinity. They not only robbed caravans, but also recently stole the taxes and supplies that the town was preparing to supply to the daimyo.

If it were just robbing caravans, Konoha might not necessarily wipe them out, because their presence would make caravans wanting to travel to the vicinity feel dangerous and hire Konoha ninjas, thus increasing Konoha's mission quota. But if it were tax robbing, that would be a different matter altogether.

The bulk of Konoha's military spending comes from the daimyo's appropriations, and the daimyo's wealth mainly comes from tax revenue.

In other words, some of the money they stole belonged to Konoha.

This is intolerable.

The ninjas traveled very fast. The group set off from the gates of Konoha in the morning, and arrived at their destination just before lunchtime.

"Now it's all up to you. I'll just observe your performance and won't interfere. Let's go."

Orochimaru stood on a tree trunk with his arms crossed, looking at the town in the distance, and addressed the three genin behind him.

"Yes!" ×3

Three figures darted out simultaneously, heading towards the town gate.

"Wait a minute."

Uchiha Gen suddenly spoke up.

Sarutobi Enjun asked:

"What's wrong, Yuan?"

"Do you think we should just go in like this?"

Uchiha Gen addressed his two teammates.

Ruri Uzuki tilted her head, her purple hair fluttering in the wind.

"You mean we should disguise ourselves before entering this town, so that the spies left behind by the bandits won't see that Konoha has sent ninjas and warn them to escape?"

"That makes sense, Yuan. You're so observant!"

Sarutobi Enjun gave Uchiha Gen a thumbs-up.

"Not only that, this mission was assigned to us by Orochimaru as a test. Although it is only a C-rank mission, it is certainly not as easy as simply finding bandits, killing them all, and finding taxes. Not to mention that we have never carried out a C-rank mission before, especially without a team leader."

Therefore, we can never be too careful. Before officially carrying out the mission, we need to gather intelligence first.
