Chapter 199 Giant Python Seeks Help! Old Monkey Gifts Crescent Moon Treasure, Sweetie Pounds Medicin
A short while later, rustling sounds came from inside the cave, and the old monkey came out holding a shiny object in its hand.
It came to Sweetie and placed the thing in her palm.
Sweetie looked down and froze.
The old monkey gave her a thin silver sheet, shaped like a crescent moon, with a smooth texture that reflected the little girl's face. The other side of the silver sheet was engraved with fine patterns, exquisitely crafted and beautifully designed.
Sweetie didn't recognize what it was or how to play with it. She fiddled with the silver piece, holding it up to the sunlight for a while, and muttered, "Grandpa Monkey, what can this little crescent-shaped piece be used for? Is it for cutting fruit?"
The old monkey raised its paw, pointed to the hole it had come out of, then to the fragments, and then turned to another direction, pointing forcefully in that direction.
Sweetie tilted her little head, thought carefully for a moment, and asked, "Are you going to tell Sweetie that someone came from there and put this crescent-shaped piece of paper into the hole?"
The old monkey nodded in satisfaction, as if praising Sweetie for being very clever.
Sweetie's big eyes darted around, and suddenly she thought of something. "Grandpa Monkey, has someone been here before? Could they have fallen down from here like Sweetie?"
The old monkey shook his head and pointed in that direction again, implying that unlike her, who fell down the mountain, he came from that direction.
Sweetie's eyes widened immediately. "Really? Sweetie wants to go that way too! Does that mean I can go out and find Daddy?"
The old monkey hesitated for a moment, seemingly unsure of the answer.
He took the silver piece from the little girl's hand, looked at it, and then inserted it into her hair. The beautiful silver piece and the wreath complemented each other, and when the sunlight shone on it, the soft beauty of the wildflowers and the shimmering silver piece made it exceptionally beautiful.
The old monkey stared at her for a long time, nodded in satisfaction, and even reached out to gently pat the top of her head, as if praising her beauty.
Then, it took the little girl's hand and walked in the direction it had just pointed.
A group of little monkeys immediately followed.
The old monkey led her down a different path, one that Sweetie hadn't taken yesterday. The trees here were taller and denser, blocking most of the sunlight, and the air was more humid, with a strange damp chill.
"Grandpa Monkey, are you taking Sweetie out? Will Sweetie be able to find her dad?"
The little girl was overjoyed at the thought of being sent away by the old monkey, and she even skipped around with excitement.
Soon, Tian Tian arrived at a tall cave. The cave was so tall, even taller than the three-story supply and marketing cooperative she had seen before. It was dark and gloomy inside, with a chilly wind blowing through it.
The dark entrance to the cave seemed to have no end in sight.
The old monkey tugged at her little hand, gesturing for Sweetie to come inside with him. But seeing the bottomless abyss, Sweetie's little heart immediately filled with fear.
She involuntarily took a few steps back and whispered, "Grandpa Monkey, the cave is too dark, I'm scared."
The old monkey patted her shoulder and squeaked at her a few times, as if to encourage her.
But Tian Tian was too scared. Faced with such an unknown cave, she simply couldn't muster the courage to rush in.
"No, no, Grandpa Monkey, Sweetie is really scared."
She'd be fine if her dad held her, or maybe a few friends could come along, but she really wouldn't dare to be alone.
The old monkey shrugged, showing a helpless expression, but it seemed to understand Sweetie's timid feelings, and pulled her back again.
It seems the little girl is afraid to go home from here, so they can only help her find another way.
Just then, a rustling sound suddenly came from beside the cave, and the grass, half a foot tall, rustled, as if some large animal was hiding inside.
Sweetie was startled and instinctively tried to hide behind the old monkey, but the old monkey was faster than her. He turned around and hugged her, and jumped onto the big rock next to them in a few quick movements.
"Squeak squeak squeak!" The little monkeys surrounding Sweetie were all on high alert. Some climbed trees, some climbed rocks. However, they were very intelligent and all stood in front of the old monkey and Sweetie in perfect unison, protecting them tightly.
A moment later, the grass slowly parted, and a giant python as thick as a water bucket slowly swam out of it.
It was several meters long, with golden and light brown stripes coiled around its body. Its head alone was bigger than the ball that Sweetie had played with. When it swam out of the grass like this, not only was Sweetie scared, but even the old monkey tightened its grip on Sweetie's arms.
Strangely, after the python swam out, it didn't seem to intend to attack. Instead, it slightly turned its body, revealing a section of its belly.
It flicked its tongue slightly, making a soft hissing sound, then remained motionless, watching the troop of monkeys before it, and the only human baby among them.
Sweetie was trembling with fear from the appearance of the giant python. For a while, she didn't even dare to open her eyes to look. But after a while, Grandpa Monkey didn't give any warning, and the little monkey didn't start attacking with shouts. Slowly, Sweetie cautiously opened her eyes a crack and looked out carefully.
Upon closer inspection, she was startled again. There was a bloody, mangled wound on the python's overturned belly, which looked as if it had been cut by a sharp stone or other weapon.
The python remained motionless, its wounds exposed. It didn't seem like it was fighting the monkeys; rather, it seemed like it was seeking their help.
"Grandpa Monkey," Sweetie asked quietly, a little unsure of what to do, "Is that big snake injured? Does it hurt a lot?"
The old monkey didn't respond to her, but stared at the giant python, as if pondering something.
After a moment, it handed Sweetie to another large monkey, then leaped off the rock and, with a few bounds, arrived beside the giant python.
The giant python remained motionless, its vertical pupils revealing a docile gaze, which seemed to carry a hint of pleading.
The wound looked like it had been there for several days, and the python was suffering greatly, desperately hoping to receive treatment and help.
The old monkey thought for a moment, then extended its paw, pointed at the python's wound, and squeaked a few times. The python couldn't make a sound, but its tacit action seemed to be a response, "Yes, I'm injured, please help me."
The old monkey thought for a moment, then leaped back, hooked its long tail, and jumped a few times on the tree before disappearing into another part of the cave.
The monkeys remained motionless, staying put because they had not received instructions from the older monkey to retreat.
Sweetie stared in the direction the old monkey had disappeared, and asked somewhat nervously, "Where did Grandpa Monkey go? He's not not coming back, is he?"
The big monkey reached out its paw and patted her little head, signaling her not to worry.
Sure enough, after a short while, the old monkey grabbed a handful of grass leaves and swung back down from the tree.
It compared the blade of grass to the python's body, then pondered for a while with some distress.
Throughout the entire process, the python maintained the same posture, seemingly understanding that it was trying to save itself.
After the old monkey finished thinking, it jumped back and landed next to Sweetie. It handed Sweetie a blade of grass and then picked up a stone from the side, giving it to her as well.
The little girl, holding a stone in one hand and a blade of grass in the other, looked at the old monkey with a blank expression and asked in a childish voice, "Grandpa Monkey, what do you want Sweetie to do?"
The old monkey pointed to the stone, then to the blades of grass, and gestured with its two paws as if they were colliding. Sweetie tilted her head and watched for a long time, then suddenly realized what was going on.
"Oh, Sweetie, I understand! Grandpa Monkey wants Sweetie to smash this leaf!"
Upon hearing that the little girl was so clever, the old monkey nodded with great satisfaction.
Sweetie immediately nodded, "Okay!"
She spread the grass on the ground, picked up a stone and smashed it on top of the grass, which quickly released green juice.
"Squeak, squeak." The old monkey pointed to the juice that was flowing out.
"Got it." Sweetie immediately found a new leaf, carefully placed the juice and chopped leaves on it, looked up at the old monkey, and quickly received a pat on the head as a sign of praise.
Encouraged, Tian Tian became even more motivated. She squatted on the ground, grabbed a stone with one hand, and vigorously smashed the grass blades, "thump thump thump," the more she smashed, the more juice appeared.
The old monkey looked at it, then assessed the python's wound. It stood up and went back along the tree branch.
This time, it brought back another kind of grass. Sweetie didn't know what these grasses were called, but she had already guessed that the old monkey did this to save the big snake.
She had received help from a snake when she was in the desert, and now that the snake was injured, it had come to Grandpa Monkey for help. Sweetie should also do her part.
With that in mind, she smashed even harder.
Seeing how hard Sweetie was working, the little monkeys squeaked and came to help her.
Unfortunately, their claws weren't as nimble as sweet little hands. When they picked up stones and tried to smash them, they either used too much force and tore the leaves to shreds, or they simply couldn't hit the stones at all. Sometimes, the stones slipped from their hands after a few smashes, and they would shrink back and run away in fright.
Therefore, this somewhat arduous activity still needs to be completed by Sweetie.
Fortunately, although the little girl felt tired, she had a strong will to persevere. When her right hand got sore, she switched to her left hand and kept alternating between her two hands. Finally, she managed to crush all the grass leaves that the old monkey had found into grass juice and broken leaves.
The old monkey squatted down beside her and saw the little girl working very hard to pound the herbs, sweat beading on her forehead. It squeaked twice, turned its head, and walked ahead, gesturing for Sweetie to follow with the herbs.
