Courtyard House: First, kill the hypocrites, leave none alive.
Chapter 88 Two More Killed
From the moment Chen Feng suddenly attacked to the moment he killed the two men with his twin guns, the entire process took no more than three seconds!
The echoes of gunfire still reverberated in the cramped compartment, and the pungent smell of gunpowder instantly overwhelmed the original stench.
Dead silence.
Absolute silence.
All that remained was the dull roar of the cargo ship's main engine and the creaking sound of the ship rocking.
The man in the couple stood frozen in place, half-rising, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at the two rapidly cooling corpses on the ground, and at the black figure standing there with a gun, like a demon.
His woman seemed stunned by the gunshot; she forgot even to sob, her mouth agape, trembling silently.
The middle-aged man, who had been as still as a stone, suddenly raised his head. In the darkness, his eyes seemed to light up for a moment, but then quickly dimmed again, and he shrank back into the shadows.
Xiao Yu was shielded by Chen Feng in the corner of the pile of goods behind him, her little hands tightly covering her mouth to prevent herself from screaming.
She couldn't see exactly what happened, but the two deafening gunshots, the sudden burst of chilling killing intent, and the fresh smell of blood that quickly filled the air all made her realize—her brother had killed someone again.
In this dark, despairing depths of the sea.
Chen Feng maintained a half-crouch shooting posture, with the muzzle slightly lowered and pointing at the ground, but his eyes were like those of a most vigilant cheetah, scanning the remaining living people in the darkness.
His breathing was steady, and his heartbeat didn't even increase much.
It was as if the thunderous slaughter just now had merely brushed away a speck of dust from his sleeve.
He waited a few seconds.
They confirmed that the two people on the ground were completely dead, and that the remaining people did not make any unusual movements.
Then, he slowly straightened up.
They didn't look at the two corpses, nor at the other terrified stowaways.
His gaze fell towards the hatch above him.
With gunfire that loud, it was impossible for the people above not to hear it.
He is waiting.
Wait for the smuggler or crew to react.
Should we come down and check?
Are you pretending not to hear?
Or... should we just come down and clean up the scene, and "deal with" the trouble at the same time?
In the dark cabin, only the increasingly strong smell of blood and gunpowder smoke silently spread.
The couple and the middle-aged man all held their breath, as if even breathing would bring about their deaths.
After about two or three minutes—which felt incredibly long in the dead silence—a sound finally came from above again.
It wasn't the sound of the iron ladder being stepped on, but the sound of the hatch being pulled open.
Then, a stronger beam of flashlight shone down. This time it wasn't the dying flashlight from the crew member who delivered the food, but a high-powered shipboard flashlight. The beam was so bright and dazzling that it illuminated this bloody corner of the hold as if it were daytime.
Two crew members, dressed in the same greasy overalls but with larger builds and fierce eyes, climbed down the iron ladder.
Instead of carrying iron buckets, they each carried a thick wooden stick with an iron tip.
The powerful flashlight first swept over the two corpses on the ground that were still gushing blood, then over Chen Feng, who stood with his gun and expressionless, followed by the other three huddled in the corner trembling, and finally landed on the conspicuous canvas tool bag at Chen Feng's feet.
The two crew members' faces looked unusually gloomy in the bright light.
They glanced at the corpse, then at the gun in Chen Feng's hand, a hint of apprehension flashing in their eyes, but more than that, a numb, indifferent ferocity.
One of the bearded crew members poked the corpse on the ground with a stick to confirm it was dead, then looked up at Chen Feng, his voice hoarse and rough: "You did this?"
Chen Feng didn't answer, he just stared at him coldly.
The bearded crew member didn't care, spat, and cursed, "Damn it, I knew something bad would happen. A bunch of poor bastards, nothing to their name, and they're even fighting amongst themselves."
Another bald crew member walked up to the couple and the middle-aged man, shone his flashlight in their faces, and asked in a menacing tone, "You guys, are you involved?"
The couple were so frightened they shook their heads repeatedly, unable to utter a word. The middle-aged man also silently shook his head.
The bald crew member, seemingly not expecting to get anything out of him, waved his hand impatiently: "Get lost!"
Then, the two crew members began to dispose of the body.
They didn't ask Chen Feng why he killed anyone, nor did they intend to confiscate his weapons—perhaps they were afraid, or perhaps they felt it was unnecessary.
They simply handled the corpse like two bags of garbage, each person grabbing one of the bodies by the feet and roughly dragging them toward the iron ladder.
The corpse left two thick, slippery trails of blood on the ground, making a sickening scraping sound.
Once they reached the bottom of the iron ladder, the two men laboriously carried the bodies up one by one.
The entire process was silent and efficient, carrying a chilling indifference.
Just as the bearded crewman was dragging the second corpse up the iron ladder and about to disappear into the hatch, he suddenly stopped, turned around, and shone his flashlight on Chen Feng again. His voice was still hoarse, but it seemed less fierce and more...in other words.
"We'll be there in a day. Behave yourselves and don't cause any more trouble. Once we get there, get the hell out of here."
After saying that, he didn't linger and dragged the corpse all the way up.
The hatch was closed again, the beam of the powerful flashlight disappeared, and the bottom of the hatch was plunged into darkness once more.
But this time, the darkness no longer seems so pure.
The two fresh bloodstains on the ground, the even stronger stench of blood in the air, and the cold yet efficient "cleaning" process all infused this darkness with a new and even more chilling cold.
The couple seemed to only dare to breathe heavily after the crew left, but they remained huddled in the corner, not daring to make a sound.
The middle-aged man also turned into a silent stone once again.
Chen Feng slowly holstered his gun, placing it back on his waistband. He walked to Xiaoyu's side and pulled her back into his arms.
Xiaoyu's body was still trembling slightly.
"It's alright," Chen Feng said softly, his voice calm, as if nothing had happened. "There's still one day left."
He gently stroked her back, but his gaze once again turned to the dark void.
one day.
We'll arrive at Hong Kong Island in one more day.
But the journey that day will likely not be peaceful.
The smuggler's warning was less of a reminder and more of an ultimatum.
They don't care about the dead, they only care about not affecting their "delivery". But if there are any more "accidents" next, will they simply choose the simplest way to deal with it—clean up the source of the trouble along with the "goods"?
There are still three people left in this cabin.
Having witnessed the carnage just now, will they be completely terrified, or... in their final moments of despair, unleash an even more insane act?
Chen Feng didn't know.
All he knew was that he had to get through this last day.
For Xiaoyu's sake, and for my own.
He leaned back against the pile of cargo, closed his eyes, and began to regulate his breathing and regain his strength. His hand remained on the handle of the gun at his waist.
The muzzle of the gun still seemed to retain a trace of heat.
Blood has already been drawn.
Inside this dark, sunless iron can, on this journey to the unknown.
Since we've already started killing, we don't care about a few more.
Any threat, any obstacle.
It all had to be paved with blood.
Not a single one can be left alive.
This vow still resonates powerfully beneath the deep sea and within steel cages.
