Chen Guan put both hands in his pockets and leisurely surveyed the bare forest in front of him.

Snowflakes landed on his shoulders, and all he could hear around him was the sound of the wind.

"After watching for so long, aren't you going to come out and stretch your muscles?"

Chen Guan spoke loudly to the empty snow forest.

His voice pierced through the wind and snow, reaching clearly into the ears of every bear clan scout.

"Or perhaps," Chen Guan took his right hand out of his pocket and patted the snowflakes off his palm, "that the bears of the North are like groundhogs, only daring to hide in their burrows and watch the show?"

As the last word fell, Chen Guan raised his right hand and pressed it down towards the silent snow forest in front of him.

The black mark on the palm shimmered with a dark golden luster.

The next moment, countless evil thoughts that had been dormant beneath the snow were instantly ignited.

boom!

The snow-covered ground thirty meters ahead suddenly exploded, and the snow mixed with frozen soil was lifted into the sky by a tremendous force.

A dozen tall, white figures screamed as they were thrown out of the snow pit, tumbling through the air before crashing heavily into the thick tree trunks around them.

Guan Jinyue stopped in her tracks.

She looked at the elite demon race ahead, now rendered incapable of fighting.

This force was completely beyond her comprehension.

There was no fluctuation of spiritual energy in the air, and even the space she was most familiar with did not ripple.

"What did you do to them?"

Adhering to the principle of asking questions when she didn't understand, she asked.

Chen Guan turned his gaze away from what was in front of him and looked at his right hand. The black mark on his palm was losing its dark golden luster.

"Borrowing a little bit of strength."

He put his hands back into his pockets: "They were too eager to kill me."

"I simply helped them visualize this idea and then gave it back to themselves as a gift."

Guan Jinyue looked at the bear scouts howling in pain in the snow pit.

"You... use your emotions as a weapon of attack."

She said softly, having already seen through his intentions.

"You could say you were lucky."

Chen Guan smiled and did not deny it.

He walked forward through the knee-deep snow, the soft ground making a rhythmic sound under his feet.

Chen Guan walked up to the largest bear clan captain.

The bear is struggling in the snow, clutching its broken ribs.

"Are you satisfied with the gift I gave you earlier?"

Chen Guan looked down at him from his high position.

The bear clan captain spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with fragments of internal organs.

"You human scum who can use sorcery!"

He roared loudly.

"This is the territory of the Northern Ice Soul Bear Clan!"

"You won't be leaving this snowfield alive today!"

Chen Guan sighed.

"It seems your hospitality needs improvement. Also, I am human and do not know any magic."

He crouched down, and his right hand came out of his pocket again, the black mark on his palm aimed at the bear clan captain on the ground.

"What do you want to do?"

The bear clan captain instinctively shrank back.

"All you can think about right now is tearing me to pieces."

Chen Guan looked into his eyes, and as Chen Guan finished speaking, the black mark on his palm lit up with an eerie glow once more, and an invisible force directly locked onto the bear clan captain's brain.

"What exactly did you do to me?!"

The bear clan captain screamed in terror.

He discovered that his killing intent was leaking away out of thin air, as if a huge hole had opened in his mind, and all the will that supported him in fighting was rapidly leaking away.

What followed was an indescribable feeling of weakness and emptiness.

Chen Guan looked at the increasingly bright mark on his palm.

"I'm devouring your hostility."

He explained patiently.

"This experience is truly amazing."

"The more you hate me, the more power I can take from you."

He heard Baal's laughter in his mind. The Lezi Demon finally couldn't stand watching anymore and didn't hold back his praise.

"The speed at which you adapted to demonic power is nothing short of a miracle."

Chen Guan remained noncommittal to Baal's praise. The bear clan captain in front of him had completely collapsed on the snow, his bloodshot eyes now dull and lifeless, and he had even lost the strength to lift his claws.

Guan Jinyue walked to Chen Guan's side.

"Did you drain his fighting spirit?"

She looked at the mud on the ground; the demon race, having lost their will to fight, were no better than ordinary wild beasts.

Chen Guan stood up.

"They want my life, so it's perfectly reasonable for me to charge some interest as a toll."

He kicked the bear clan captain at his feet.

"Where are your other two teams?"

He asked the question.

The bear clan captain was panting heavily, no longer daring to even look up at the coffin, his mind filled only with fear of this human.

"They ran away."

Guan Jinyue answered the question for him.

"I can no longer sense any movement from the other two directions."

Chen Guan nodded.

"Your companion is smarter than you."

"Now that our location has been exposed," Guan Jinyue began to analyze the situation. "The Bear King will definitely not allow us to roam freely in his territory."

"No matter what, we should go first."

Chen Guan looked at the bear on the ground, didn't finish it off, and turned to leave.

Guan Jinyue followed silently, and it was the right thing to do not make a move to finish off the enemy, because that would only escalate the conflict.

The two continued their journey through the howling wind and snow.

The commotion they had just made had a significant deterrent effect, and they encountered no obstacles on the next few kilometers.

All the eyes that had been watching from the shadows had left, leaving only the rustling sound of the wind blowing through the snow.

Chen Guan glanced at the gray sky, the snowflakes landing on his face with a biting chill.

As he walked, he examined the black mark on his palm. Although the thing was easy to use, Chen Guan felt that things were not so simple.

"Bar"

He called out from the depths of his consciousness.

"Does this skill have any side effects?"

Barr yawned.

"Of course there are side effects."

"Eating too much junk food can cause indigestion."

"Absorbing too much negative emotion from the outside world will cause irreversible pollution to your mental cognition."

"Although your mental fortitude is as hard as a rock, if you're constantly immersed in this filth, who knows, one day you might turn into something strange."

Chen Guan smiled silently in his mind.

"It's much better to be crazy than dead."

He also has a skill called "Regret," which is quite related to emotions.

He looked up and saw a huge ice sculpture directly in front of him, its rough outline barely visible in the snow.

"That's the altar you mentioned."

He pointed to the building in front of him and asked.

Guan Jinyue followed his gaze.

"That's right."

She nodded in confirmation.

"That is the huge statue of the first Bear King, and the real entrance to the altar is directly below the base of the statue."
