Highway Survival for All: My RV's Infinite Evolution

Seeing this scene, Lin Hui felt both gratified and somewhat bittersweet.

He took out a silver necklace and a black-covered diary from the alternate dimension and walked up to Lilith.

He crouched down, his gaze level with Lilith's, and his tone became exceptionally gentle:

"Lilith, this is something your mother asked me to give you."

"Mother……"

Lilith was slightly taken aback.

This word was both unfamiliar and familiar to her.

Vague fragments flashed through her mind, like a pair of warm hands, a vague embrace, and a comforting scent...

However, no matter how hard she tried to think, she could never make out the person's face.

"my mother?"

She murmured to herself and subconsciously took the black diary.

It was a very ordinary leather notebook, with a worn cover that made it look somewhat old.

Lilith sat on the soft sofa in the RV, her small hand gently stroking the cover.

Then, she turned to the first page.

What catches the eye is the delicate and neat handwriting, along with a simple line drawing next to it.

The painting depicts a baby in swaddling clothes, grinning with its toothless mouth.

To my dearest Lilith:

By the time you read this diary, Mom may have already gone to a very far place. Don't cry, Mom has just gone to be with Dad and my sister. They have waited for me for so, so long.

I know you might forget many things, even who I am. That's okay, Mommy will remember them for you. These are memories Mommy has preserved for you.

[Date: Year Month Day, Sunny.]

Today, my Lilith met us. You cried so loudly that even Uncle Leon next door said this child will definitely be a singer someday. Your eyes are just like your father's, the purest blue. Holding you in my arms, I felt like I had the whole world.

Lilith's fingers gently traced the words, her eyes slightly warming.

She turned to the third page.

[Date: Year, Month, Day; Cloudy.]

To protect you from the curse, your mother put a ring on your finger. It will protect you, but... it might make you feel a little lonely. I'm sorry, my Lilith.

......

[Date: Year Month Day, Rainy.]

Today, my Lilith misses her mother. But silly child, your father and sister are gone. This sister... is actually a creation of your mother using her necklace. To avoid being watched by that terrifying being, and to protect you from harm, your mother can only pretend to be your sister to keep you company.

[Date: Year Month Day, Rainy.]

The fog... is getting thicker. Lilith, today you asked me why Daddy and Mommy aren't coming home? I lied to you. I said Daddy and Mommy went to fight monsters, that they were great heroes. Actually, Daddy really did become a hero, to protect us...

Lilith sniffed, and a tear fell onto the page with a "plop".

Although she couldn't remember, looking at these words made her heart ache.

With trembling hands, she continued flipping through the pages.

The diary is very thick, recording every little detail of more than twenty years.

Her first steps, her first words, her first illness...

Every page is filled with the weight of a mother's love.

Until you turn to the last few pages.

[On [Date], there was heavy fog.]

Lilith was very happy today because a doctor named Bai Ling gave her medicine. Lilith smiled and told me that she was getting better and could take "Sister" out to sunbathe more often.

[Date: Year, Month, Day]

This is the last diary entry.

Lilith is even happier today because the older sister named Bai Ling came to visit her, along with a young man named Lin Hui. He gave Mom a lot of food and also gave you a beautiful white princess dress.

Lilith, you look like a little angel when you twirl around in your dress. Mommy really wants to watch you grow up forever, to see you in your wedding dress...

But Mom's time is running out. The monster is about to awaken. To fight for your future, Mom must do one last thing.

Lilith, sleep well. When you wake up, all the nightmares should be over. You should stay with Brother Lin Hui; he's a good person, a trustworthy and strong man. Be obedient, eat your meals properly, and don't be picky.

The necklace is for you; it was a token of love from your father to your mother, and now it's yours.

My Lilith, don't be afraid, don't look back.

[Mom is always here, in the wind, in the rain, in every moment you miss me.]

I will always, always protect you.

Love, Mom.

"Waaah..."

As the last page was turned, Lilith could no longer hold back.

Guided by these words, those fragmented memories surged forth like a tide, piecing themselves back together into vivid images.

"elder sister……"

Lilith choked back tears as the image of her older sister, who always played with her and saved the best food for her, gradually became clearer in her mind, and then... slowly overlapped with the image of her mother.

It turns out that the older sister is the mother.

It turns out that it was my mother who had always been there for me.

Lilith suddenly hugged the diary tightly, as if she wanted to meld it into her body.

Her frail body trembled slightly, and her face was already covered with tears.
