Re:Zero -Starting Life in Zero

Chapter 255 The Secret Behind the Door

Pandora chuckled softly, a laugh filled with bitterness and helplessness, as she slowly revealed the deepest obsession of the world's will:

"However, the time and energy required to create a new world are incalculable. In the long process of the old world perishing and the new world being rebuilt, countless living beings will perish completely in the chaos."

"Oed Ragnar did not want to give up any life, so he chose the most foolish method, which was to prolong life for the aging world."

She looked up into the vast distance, a dim resolve flashing in her eyes, her tone calm yet carrying an unspeakable heaviness:

"Behind that door lies the intricate web of life that connects the world, and Ode Ragnar uses his own sacred body as nourishment to barely sustain this world on the verge of collapse."

"And I, with my own hands, severed the solidified reality and released the fragments of His soul trapped in His body. Those fragments are the witch factors of the Seven Sins."

With his eyes closed, Green quietly sensed the witch factor flowing through his body. The restless power swirled around him, yet he could not feel even a trace of the consciousness and warmth belonging to the world's will.

After a long while, he slowly opened his eyes, his tone calm and even, yet every word pierced the heart: "It's a pity, Pandora, there isn't a single soul left in these witch genes."

Pandora's calm smile faltered for only a moment before the unexpected pain in her eyes was quickly concealed.

In an instant, he returned to his usual calm and indifference, as if the emotion he had just felt had never occurred.

Her fingertips, hanging at her sides, curled almost imperceptibly before relaxing. Her tone remained calm, yet carried an almost obsessive certainty:

"How will you know if you don't try?"

Upon hearing this, Green simply shrugged, his tone crisp and decisive, no longer dwelling on Pandora's obsession, and turned to look at Emilia beside him:

"Let's stay here for now. Come on, Lia, let's go see what's going on with the other villagers."

Emilia immediately responded, her eyes resolute as she followed his steps, her tone full of trust: "Yes, Grin."

She then turned to the side and gently took Fortuna's hand beside her, her voice soft and obedient, carrying a comforting tone towards an elder:

"Mom, we'll listen to Green."

Just as Green and his two companions turned to leave, Pandora suddenly moved, landing silently and lightly in front of them like a feather. Her plain-colored dress swept across the ground, blocking everyone's path.

Green paused, his eyes narrowing instantly, his aura hardening, his tone carrying undisguised distance and warning: "Pandora, having escaped with your life, wouldn't it be better to find a corner to crouch in?"

But Pandora was not afraid of his threat at all. She remained calm, her eyebrows slightly curved, and she gently advised, "Mr. Green, don't be angry."

"If you really want to create a new world, you must also open that door."

Green raised an eyebrow and pressed on, "Why?"

"Because this world is not yet dead, if your new world were to grow here, most of its nutrients would be taken away, and it would be impossible for it to take shape." Pandora spoke slowly, each word clear and distinct.

Upon hearing this, a hint of doubt flashed in Green's eyes, and his tone carried a scrutinizing tone: "I'm a little confused, Pandora, do you want this world to live or die?"

Pandora looked up at him calmly, her tone resolute: "I want to give this world a new life."

Green scoffed, his tone blunt: "So you're just sending it to be reborn, huh?"

Pandora was speechless for a moment, then spoke again, her voice lowered and carrying a hint of secrecy: "...Mr. Grin, let me tell you a secret."

"The arrogant witch's essence lies behind the door."

"Hundreds of years ago, I retrieved it and followed the scent of Odragna to this place. The witch factor was sucked into that hidden door, and that was the only time I ever saw that door."

"Once you consume that witch factor, seven-eighths of the direct authority originating from Ode Ragnar will be in your hands."

Without these core nutrients, the old world will wither away more quickly.

"At that time, the old world will only have the power of jealousy left to survive."

"And you can plant a new world at its center. The maturity of the new world connects with the death of the old world, which is enough to preserve existing life to the maximum extent."

As Green listened to Pandora's words, his fingertips unconsciously curled up, and a hint of interest began to stir in his heart.

Creating a new world requires massive power to support it, and the more power-based abilities one has, the better. He cannot easily ignore this temptation.

He never thought about any grand ambition to save the world, nor did he want to be a supreme ruler.

Firstly, it's to find a safe and secure permanent home for those creatures in the fairy tale world;

Secondly, he knew in his heart that this old and desolate world was already on the verge of collapse and wouldn't last much longer.

For Rem, Ram, Betty, and Ria beside him, and all his friends who are important to him.

He must create a new world of absolute safety to protect everyone.

Just as he was pondering, Fortuna stepped forward, gently raising her hand to stop Green, her eyes filled with worry and seriousness, and softly advised him:

"Little Grimm, don't easily believe the words of a witch."

Upon hearing this, Green nodded gently, his gaze towards Fortuna reassuring, yet his tone was unwavering: "Don't worry, Mom, I understand."

He knew all too well that the witch's words were never without calculation, but at this moment he had no other choice, his tone filled with resolve:

"But I do need that power. If a new world can be created, everyone in the village frozen in ice, and even Jus, who is now just a soul, can be saved."

Fortuna opened her mouth, but a heart full of worry stuck in her throat.

Seeing the unwavering determination in Green's eyes, he ultimately couldn't bring himself to offer any words of dissuasion. He simply clenched his fists and said in a deep voice:

"Let me go with you!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Emilia immediately spread her arms, blocking Fortuna's path, shaking her head rapidly, her tone filled with unwavering insistence:

"Baa baa! Mom, I wish I could be here with Green right now."

She turned to look at Fortuna, her eyes full of sensible consideration, and said earnestly:

"You take the others and move everyone in the village to a safe place. I'll stay here with Green, everything will be fine."

Before the words were finished, a clear and powerful voice suddenly rang out.

Jiafeier strode forward, vigorously flexing the taut muscles in his arms, and confidently patted his chest, saying:

"Your Majesty, please go and do what you need to do! Leave the moving of the villagers to me!"

He turned around and shouted behind him, his tone crisp and decisive:

"Hey, Grandpa, Otto, you two, don't just stand around, come help out and move some of the lighter ice sculptures. Hurry up!"
