Re:Zero -Starting Life in Zero

Chapter 246 Pinocchio and the Black Wolf

Pandora's body rippled with illusory energy, her form slowly dissolving like a shattered phantom, easily breaking free from the shackles of the withered wooden spear.

The piercing wound in his chest disappeared in an instant, without leaving a trace of blood.

She glanced down at Pinocchio's nose, her slender, white fingers lightly touching the air, causing tiny fragments of illusory power to fall.

"Fir trees are very prone to withering at this time of year."

Her voice was light and airy, without a trace of murderous intent, yet it carried an irresistible power of rules, and the crisp cracking sound instantly exploded on Pinocchio's body.

His swollen wooden nose withered rapidly at a visible speed, the bark peeling off layer by layer, the wood grain completely cracking and spreading all the way to the tip of his nose.

Its once sharp and pointed appearance instantly turned into a useless piece of dead wood, hanging down.

Pinocchio felt a piercing numbness and excruciating pain in his nose, as if all his strength had been drained away, and his wooden body trembled slightly.

He staggered back two steps, staring at Pandora with a face full of shock and anger:

"You damned woman, how dare you ruin my nose!"

"Damn it, let me show you something even better."

Having said that, Pinocchio prepared to reach for his belt.

Before he could make any further moves, the Dark Fairy Tale Book flashed with black light once more.

A giant black wolf landed, sending Pinocchio flying.

"Get out of here, don't get my dinner dirty with your toothpicks."

Before he could finish speaking, the giant wolf took a deep breath, its chest expanding to its maximum size.

The next instant, a black storm powerful enough to tear the heavens and earth spewed out from its gaping maw!

The howling wind, carrying sharp, blade-like pieces of wood, swept across the entire dilapidated church in an instant.

The originally dilapidated tables, chairs, murals, and even parts of the walls were instantly reduced to dust by this violent suction and tearing force, and were forcibly lifted into the sky before crashing down.

Dust filled the air, cries of anguish echoed everywhere, and even the church's foundations trembled slightly under this force, as if they might collapse completely at any moment.

Pandora, at the eye of the storm, remained unharmed throughout.

She was surrounded by illusory ripples, and the space around her was separated from her by an invisible barrier.

No matter how fierce the storm or how boulders bombarded her, they could not touch her in the slightest.

She was like an observer on another level, coldly watching this cataclysmic atrocity. Her eyes narrowed slightly, then she looked towards the throne, her voice as clear and cold as shattered jade:

"Grimm, please stop releasing this filth. This world has begun to crumble."

As soon as Pandora finished speaking, the lingering ripples of illusion around her abruptly stopped.

The giant wolf, entirely black and exuding a bloodthirsty aura, gave her no chance to continue persuading him.

With a powerful stomp of his limbs, the rubble was instantly shattered!

Its massive body transformed into a streak of black lightning, accompanied by the howling sound of wind as it hurtled through the air, and flew straight toward Pandora!

Its scarlet beastly eyes were filled with violence and greed, and its gaping maw spewed out a foul-smelling gust of wind.

Before Pandora could activate its illusory power to dodge, it let out a fierce howl and bit down.

It swallowed her whole, along with the surrounding illusory space, whole into its belly!

Click—!

The space cracked with a crisp sound as the black wolf bit into it and swallowed it whole.

Where Pandora once stood, only a jarring gap remained.

The pitch-black fissure twisted and writhed, with the surrounding airflow rushing back in.

Several seconds passed before it slowly healed on its own, returning to its original empty state.

After swallowing Pandora, the black wolf shook its enormous head, causing the black fur around its neck to bristle in the wind.

His crimson eyes swept over the dilapidated church, a low, impatient growl escaping his throat, his tone arrogant and domineering:

"What are you babbling on about? So much nonsense!"

Pinocchio, who had been blasted against the stone pillar, clutched his aching wooden body and finally managed to get up. Seeing this scene, he exclaimed angrily:

"You bastard, you just swallowed it whole? Damn, what a waste!"

The giant wolf flicked its dust-covered, jet-black mane, its scarlet beastly eyes glancing sideways at the disheveled Pinocchio beneath the stone pillar, a sneer escaping its throat.

His rough, high-pitched voice, filled with undisguised contempt, snapped back:

"So what? Do you expect me to eat it after you've covered someone in resin? Go to hell."

These words struck Pinocchio's sore spot precisely, each word piercing his heart, leaving him speechless.

He was originally a puppet carved by a carpenter, born with a father but no mother. This insult struck his weak spot, making his wooden body tremble with anger, and wood chips almost fell from the cracked grain.

Pinocchio, clutching his withered nose, was both in pain and furious, hopping mad and roaring:

"If you're hungry, go eat an apostle! One bite will fill you up. Why are you fighting me for this bite and ruining my plans!"

The giant wolf disdainfully scratched at its sharp claws, causing the rubble beneath its feet to shatter instantly. A low growl escaped its chest, full of shrewd calculation:

"Do you think I'm stupid?! The Apostle is about to create a world. If we mess with him now, we'll probably get chased and hacked down by a truckload of people. I'm not doing that kind of losing business!"

"I'll just swallow this preachy woman; it'll shut her up and fill my stomach at the same time—a win-win situation!"

The two figures were still locked in a fierce confrontation in the center of the church, the dust still swirling in the air.

A clear, cold voice, devoid of any warmth or human touch, suddenly rang out from behind them, drifting lightly into their ears, instantly freezing the previously roaring giant wolf and Pinocchio in place.

"Gentlemen, if you can, please go back to where you came from. This place does not belong to you."

The voice was exactly the same as before, still gentle yet containing a chilling power of rules, but the location from which the voice rang out made both of them shudder.

Pinocchio was startled and immediately turned around to be on guard.

"Holy crap, they're still alive?"

Without the slightest hesitation, the giant wolf suddenly opened its blood-red maw.

Its sharp fangs gleamed with a cold light, and it bit down hard on Pandora, who was standing still again, swallowing her whole with a brutal and ruthless motion.

After swallowing it, the giant wolf shook its head viciously, its black fur covered in dust and a menacing aura.

His crimson eyes swept across the empty ground, and his rough voice, filled with rage and disdain, coldly spat:

"Scream? It's just one more bite. I'd like to see what other trouble you can cause!"

As soon as the giant wolf finished speaking, that indifferent yet ethereal voice echoed for the third time in the church.

This time, the voice was right next to it, close to its ear, carrying a cool breath, gently brushing against its erect wolf ears.

"Are you full, Mr. Wolf?"

The giant wolf's black fur instantly bristled into needle-like shapes, and its massive body trembled uncontrollably.

A chill ran straight up from his tailbone to the top of his head, completely overwhelming his previous violence and arrogance.
